About Dan Brownell

Dan Brownell is the chairman of the Business Integrity Commission, the agency charged with keeping organized crime out of wholesale markets and private carting. Brownell was a prosecutor with the Manhattan district attorney’s office.  Mr. Brownell, who has held a variety of investigatory positions at the city, state and federal level, was chief of the Rackets Bureau and deputy chief of the Investigative Division under Manhattan D.A. Cyrus Vance. He supervises a team of attorneys prosecuting organized crime, corruption, construction fraud and white-collar crimes.  The commission has had success rooting out organized crime at the Fulton Street Fish Market.  The Business Integrity Commission consists of the Chairperson Brownell who was appointed by the mayor and commissioners of the Police Department, the Department of Consumer Affairs, the Department of Investigation, the Department of Small Business Services and the Department of Sanitation, or their designees.
