Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis – a Republican was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2010. Her district includes all of Staten Island and a large portion of Brooklyn. Daughter of immigrants – father from Greece and mother a Cuban exile of the Castro dictatorship. Reelected with 74% of the vote. Led the difficult, ongoing recovery from Hurricane Sandy.
