On President Obama’s decision to release 6,000 federal inmates this weekend: “We have to be very concerned about who we’re letting out.

One of the issues of concern is when people go to jail, often times they go to jail with negotiated charges, if you will, so that somebody that is in jail that seems like they’re non-violent, they may in fact have crimes of violence in their record.”

“Judges need to – and district attorneys, and we the police, and the public – need to take into account that some people, I’m sorry, they’re criminals. Some people are bad people, and we need to separate the bad people from the good people.”

Commissioner Bill Bratton is the New York City Police Commissioner. He has previously served as the Commissioner of the Boston Police Department (BPD) (1993-1994), New York City Police Department (NYPD) Commissioner (1994–1996), and Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) (2002–2009). New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that Bratton would return to the post of Police Commissioner in New York City. Commissioner Bratton is having another successful run as Police Commissioner. Crime is down, and he has overcome unrest in the Department and civilian complaints. It has been and awful past couple of weeks for the NYPD. Another officer has fallen, 4 in the past 10 months, and the Commissioner has had some very harsh words for Congress which has been dragging its feet to control illegal guns for years.
