Speaker 1 With us today. Is Cardinal Timothy Dolan, your eminence, it’s Easter weekend? Can you give us a message to all Americans listening? And is it a time for hope?

Speaker 2 Well? I hope so, John, That’s what it’s all about. We can’t understand Easter Sunday unless we understand Good Friday, because life has its share of both. So we’re going from the bleakness, the despair, the darkness, the evil, the hatred, the death of Good Friday afternoon. We go from that to the life and promise and joy and light and

life of Easter Sunday. It’s a journey. It’s sort of like the journey that our Jewish neighbors had from slavery and death in Egypt to promise and hope, from the Exodus, that journey of the Exodus to their journey to the Promised Land. We all go through it. Jesus the Son of God went through it, from Good Friday to Easter Sunday.

And John, we need it. Our city, my God, the city you and I love and cherish, the country, the globe. We need it. We seem to be gripped and almost kind of, Oh God, almost like a straight jacket on good Friday afternoon, and we need that You use the word hope. We need that hope, because what do we

got left if we don’t. We’re hardwired for hope, John, We’re hardwired for hope. Despair can get despair can take over. You look at the death of that brave police officer, Jonathan Dillar. I talked to his wife, I hold his little boy, and even though they’re sobbing, they’re in tremors love good Friday afternoon. They’ve got a grit to them.

They’ve got a hope, they’ve got a light, they got a promise. We’re just kinda we’re just kind of wired for that hope. And it’s never more vivid than in the living poetry and the transition from Good Friday to Easter Sunday.

Speaker 1 Well, Your Eminence, we all pray together, and I believe if enough of us pray and give positive prayer, that something good is going to happen.

Speaker 2 I’m with you, my friend. Thanks for all you do. A blessing Easter to you and to Margo and the family.

Speaker 1 Okay, thank you so much. Bye bye,
