Interview Highlights

“We have seen the numbers (of homeless) on the streets go up, if you look at the shelter census however, since January the number of families in the shelters has gone down slowly but steadily as Mayor de Blasio’s administration has implemented some rental assistance programs to get people up and out of the shelters…we are hoping this will encourage people to come in off the streets.”

40% (of the homeless) have severe and persistent mental illness and what they need is a home with on-site support services.”
