Fernando “Freddy” Ferrer served in the New York City Council from 1982 to 1987 was the Borough President of The Bronx from 1987 to 2001 – and was a candidate for Mayor of New York City in 2001 and the Democratic Party nominee for Mayor in 2005. Mr. Ferrer is currently the acting chairman of the MTA.
