Mike Asaro – Less than 450 Right whales left on earth

Mike Asaro is the Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Branch Chief at the NOAAMIke Asaro  whalesFisheries Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office. He oversees conservation and recovery programs for endangered and threatened marine mammal and sea turtle species in New England and the Mid-Atlantic. This includes working to prevent whales, dolphins, right whaleporpoises, and sea turtles from becoming entangled in fishing gear. Mike also oversees the marine mammal and sea turtle stranding and disentanglement response programs in the Greater Atlantic Region. Mike is a social scientist by training, earning his PhD studying how non-government stakeholders influence and participate in the public policy process.
