Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning, the end of an old year, the beginning of a new year with us today is former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Newt Kingridge and Newt. Congratulations on your wife, Calisita becoming the ambassador to Switzerland.
Well, so, she’s very honored to have been nominated by President Trump to go to Switzerland. Her mother actually is of Switch descent, so there’s a family tie. And as you know, she served the President and his ambassador to the Vatican in his first term, so she’s used to being an ambassador and being a diplomat. And I think
she’ll work very very hard to represent our interests in Switzerland.
That is wonderful. Uh, it’s the end of the year. What is bothering you? What are you looking forward to?
Well, okay, I think the two biggest challenges, first of all, are to get people to understand that Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House, is doing an extraordinary job. I tell everybody I was a pretty effective speaker. I could never do his job. He has no margins. Any two or three members can rebel at any moment. He has
the patience of job in the Bible. He is a deeply Christian person, and he just calmly listens and listens and listens, and frankly, the recent exercise, which was really the Constitution working the last stand of the old order of the Biden system, I wanted a fifteen hundred page continuing resolution. Trump intervened decisively, as did Elon Musk, and
Johnson managed the process and got that down to one hundred and thirty six pages. Now, it took him three runs to get there, but in the end they had literally taken out almost fourteen hundred pages, huge amounts of money, a number of left wing cuckoo ideas, and we have people are complaining. Well, that is when you have no
margin and you have to maneuver and listen and maneuver and listen. That is how the constitutional process works. President Trump himself said that it was a great achievement that he praised the Speaker Johnson, and I hope that all the Republicans will get together and decide that they need a Republican unity program for the next two years. These
guys who wake up every morning and say I’m going to vote and know what’s the issue are totally destructive and hand the House over to the Democrats. And so they need to start this new year with a pledge that every Republican is going to stick together. They’re going to be a single team. And if they do that,
you’re going to get some things through. And that leads me to my second big concern, which is the tax cut and deregulation bill. In order for the Republicans to keep the House and gain seats, which is what they have to do in twenty twenty six, the economy has to be booming. In order for the economy to boom
by July fourth, they need to sign into law a huge tax cut and deregulation bill. And I think that should be the highest priority domestically of the administration and of every house in centate Republican. We have to keep our word. People have to feel better in their pocketbook, they have to feel optimisty about the future, and they
have to see the economy growing. If those things happen, then like Franklin Delo Roosevelt, they picked up nine House seats in nineteen thirty four, I think Trump can gain seats in twenty twenty six, keep control of the House, and continue to get his program through in twenty seven and twenty eight. But if they fail to do that,
then my fear is the Democrats will win and will immediately be back in the impeachment games and the investigation games and blocking all of Trump’s progress. So, in my mind, the crisis of the first year is whether or not the President and Johnson and Senator Soon and the majority leader in the Senate, whether they can find a way
to get this bill written and pass no later than the fourth of July so it has time to go into effect and has time to start creating jobs, improving the cost of living, getting inflation under control. This is a huge, huge deal and people need to wake up every morning and ask while we’re making progress on this project.
I agree with you on New king Ridge. The only thing I would add to that is the American people have to trust the vote, and I think we have to pass something that have one American one vote. It concerns me of what Californi one years doing where well every single state that Kamala Harris one is a state
that with no voter ID and I think we have to straighten out and making sure the American people feel confident that their vote counts.
Well. The American people overwhelmingly believe you ought to have voter ID. We ought to be sure that no non citizen is voting, and we ought to be sure that the votes are being counted actively. You know, eighty to eighty papics of American people believe this, and I think they need to just get a bill through. And by
the way, they also need to say no non citizen is going to be counted for the purpose of the census. I mean, part of the deal with all these illegal immigrants is but in New York and Illinois and California are going to keep extra cogressional seats because they’re counting non American and I think we’ve got to have a
clear po census will only a portion based upon legal Americans.
Have a happy New Year, new Ingridge and uh you and Callista and we’ll catch up with you in the new year.
Right, look forward to take care of him.
