Speaker 1 Sunday morning, 9-11 weekend. Well, with us today is the 50th Speaker of the House, Speaker Newt Gingrich, and he really has the pulse of the situation, and he’s calling in today from Dallas. Well, tell us what the heck is going on. Give us your pulse on what happened in Dallas. Give us your pulse on what they’re trying

to do to the President and raise the price of of oil and raise the interest rates, et cetera, et cetera?

Speaker 2 Well, first of all, the convention itself was, I thought, very effective, very powerful. The auditorium was packed. I talked personally to 12 different state delegations, and it was clear that bringing everybody together was creating a wave of enthusiasm and excitement that if one of our major goals is to.

Speaker 3 Turn out the Trump base. This was a very important.

Speaker 2 And very successful convention. In addition, I thought John Fetterman, having made a video for the Republicans, just basically saying that while he’s still a Democrat, he is opposed to virtually all the Democrats. That reminded me a lot of Governor, then Senator Zell Miller in 2004, speaking to the Republican National Convention in favor of President George W. Bush.

Speaker 3 When you have a U.S.

Speaker 2 Senator from Pennsylvania, who, by the way, now has a joint fundraising account with the Republican senator from Pennsylvania, I mean, that’s a significant break. It tells you how far to the left and how radical the Democrats are becoming, that they’re driving people like Fetterman, who we used to think of as a pretty left-wing guy, and he just finds

these people crazy and totally unacceptable. I thought the president’s speech was on the floor.

Speaker 1 While he spoke.

Speaker 3 And I thought, as usual, it was too long. But I thought he had a tremendous number of important topics. And he was very clear. And I’m encouraged that he is so committed that he’s going to go to 35 different places in the next two months to try to help win this election. And I think The.

Speaker 2 Left somehow thinks it’s a mistake for Trump to be involved. The truth is, you can’t be a figure the size of President Trump and be as clear and decisive and not be involved. This is an election about whether you like the Mondomys and the left-wingers or whether, in fact, you want to go back to an America that has

key values And I think this is, the more I look at the left-wing Palo Rico, for example, in Texas, these people are so far to the left, they’re crazy. And I think if people really asked themselves, would you be comfortable with people this radical defining your country’s future, I think they could be in for a remarkably bad

defeat this fall.

Speaker 1 Well, we need You know, I had the former vice president on my show, and I’ve said that to many people this weekend, that he said that maybe the Republicans are not 100% the way that everybody wants to see them to be, but the Democrats, because of the Socialist Party, have completely lost their mind. So the American people have

to realize that, that they’re no longer voting for the regular Democratic Party. They’re voting for the Socialists until we get rid of the Socialists.

Speaker 2 Well, I mean, big government socialism, which is the term I always use, because if you put big government in front of socialism, it’s dramatically more powerful in taking votes away from the Democrats. You look at where they would go, and Mondami is a perfect example. I mean, does anybody seriously believe that a unionized New York bureaucrat is going

to run a more efficient and less expensive restaurant grocery store than Walmart or Costco or Kroger’s or any of the great chains that spend all day every day, Amazon. These people are crazy, and they want power, and they want the power to change our country and the power to control us.

Speaker 1 Now, do you think the American people, you travel around the country sometimes. Are they getting the pulse of that situation that’s really going on? And the other thing, the other question I want to ask you is that with Canada, what the heck is going on with those people?

Speaker 2 Well, let me take one at a time. I think that what has helped the Republicans is the realization by more and more people that the big government socialists are a disaster for the country. And so they may not be happy with us. I mean, nobody’s happy with the current price of gasoline. Nobody’s happy with the war in Iran.

But on the other hand, the alternative is so terrible that they, in a sense, give President Trump another shot at changing things because they’re not an alternative. They’re in terrible shape. Canada has become a very interesting place. The current prime minister of Canada has clearly... more pro-Chinese than he is pro-American. Now, why he would be like that

is beyond me. I mean, how you could have any real knowledge of the Chinese dictatorship and.

Speaker 3 Any real knowledge of what Beijing is like.

Speaker 2 And still be willing to deal with them? And he clearly prefers Beijing to Washington. And I think that it’s a very dangerous situation in a lot of ways. I mean, ultimately, it’s pretty hard for me to see how Canada cuts itself off from the United States. And ultimately, I suspect, we’ll get an agreement. But the current prime minister, building

on top, of course, of a very left-wing and very weak prime minister, really has given Canada some very terrible rules and a terrible cultural attitude that is largely anti-American.

Speaker 1 I like him. I’ve met him. I like the guy. He’s a smart guy, but I don’t understand why he’s favoring, uh, Washington. And he’s also, I mean, favoring, uh, uh, China. And he’s also trying to make alliances, uh, which are going to be anti-Trump with Europe.

Speaker 2 Yeah. I, I think, I think it’s one of those cases is almost like a, you know, having a teenager who says, I’ll show you, um, that he, he, He is for some reason determined not to be part of a Trump defined future and is willing to create almost any kind of relationship that will strengthen him in his

struggle with Trump. But in the long run, the weight of the American economy and the proximity of the United States, it’s very hard for me to see how you go from Toronto to Beijing rather than Toronto to Washington.

Speaker 1 Understood. Anything else you want to get off your chest on a Sunday morning?

Speaker 2 Well, I just think the very strange crash of the cargo plane.

Speaker 3 In Miami, which was clearly pilot error, is.

Speaker 2 A reminder that we need to keep very tough standards on things like airplanes or trains to make sure that that the people who are in charge are trained well enough to deal with emergencies. I think that was a totally avoidable disaster. And it’s just a reminder that you can’t lower your guard and bring in people who don’t

know what they’re doing.

Speaker 1 I understand. Well, thank you, Newt Gingrich. You were one of the best speakers the United States has ever had, and you continue to speak out for our country. Thank you so much, and we’ll catch up with you again real soon.

Speaker 3 Great being with you, John.
