Speaker 1 With us today is Congressman Brandon Gill, a, well, a businessman, a former investment banker, and now is a congressman from the 26th District in Texas. And he serves on the House Judiciary Committee, the Budget and Oversight Committee, and the Doge Subcommittee. Well, Congressman, you’re one of the brightest guys we have in Texas. Tell us, give us your pulse

of what the heck is going on Is there any chance that Paxton is in danger in Texas?

Speaker 2 Well, first of all, thanks for having me on. I mean, you take every election seriously. You never sleepwalk into an election, and we’ve got to take this one seriously as well. I mean, James Tallarico is raising.

Speaker 3 A lot of money.

Speaker 2 He is very disingenuously, I think, moving to the center. Now we’re going to hold his feet to the fire and make sure everybody knows how radically and insanely.

Speaker 3 Left-wing he is.

Speaker 2 But I think at the end of the day, we’re going to get the message out to Texans. We’re going to make sure that every single voter in Texas knows who James Tallarico is and that every single voter in Texas knows Ken Paxton’s record as attorney general. And I think that they’re going to make– they’re going to see

that contrast and they’re going to be with Paxton.

Speaker 1 Understood. And I– I get the pulse of the situation. And President Trump’s speech the other few days, on Wednesday and Thursday, were phenomenal. And the fact is, the people in Texas don’t want to go backwards. And I think we’re going to be okay. But like you said, you take every election seriously. Now, what other things that are

happening in our country are bothering you? You’re on the Judiciary Committee. What the heck is going on? With every judge, there’s 680 judges, federal judges, and they all try to be the president’s boss.

Speaker 2 Yeah, you know, you’ve got district court judges. I mean, remember, that’s the lowest rung of the federal judiciary who have been issuing nationwide injunctions against the president related to military troop movements, essentially how the composition of the military. I mean, things that you wouldn’t typically associate with a judge, but that’s what we’ve seen. And I think that we’ve got

legislation in the House that would stop, for instance, district court judges from issuing nationwide injunctions.

Speaker 3 But what you have, I think, fundamentally.

Speaker 2 Is a level of judicial activism rooted in a hatred of the president and of his conservative policies. And that’s something that I think that’s an issue that we need to be addressing very, very quickly here.

Speaker 1 I realize that, but is Congress going to do it? But Congress can’t do it because you still need 60 votes in the Senate. I mean, are the federal judges ignoring the Supreme Court that has attempted to be able to say things like that?

Speaker 2 Well, and that’s sort of the, I guess you’d say, the perennial issue that we’ve got here right now. We’ve got a lot of big And I think very important pieces of legislation that we would like to get to the president’s desk.

Speaker 3 You know, we’ve had many good bills that we’ve passed out of the House.

Speaker 2 I mean, most recently, you know, a ban on members of Congress trading stocks. And that’s being sent over to the Senate. But we do need the Senate to figure out a way to get bills passed, because right now with that 60 vote threshold, you’re seeing basically a level of sort of procedural obstruction that is stopping us from getting, again,

very good and common.

Speaker 3 Sense pieces of legislation to the president’s desk. I have been a long time been an advocate for.

Speaker 2 Um, of using a talking filibuster, um, in order to get legislation passed. But that’s the kind of thing that we need. If we’re going to get bills, um, like the bill that we, uh, that we have in the house, which would stop district court judges from issuing nationwide injunctions, that’s what we’re going to.

Speaker 1 Have to do. If it doesn’t get past the Senate, we are only, we’re only wasting our time and just making music for our own selves. Uh, it, Right now, it has to be the Supreme Court. Otherwise, you know, we can’t do it. I mean, it won’t happen.

Speaker 2 Well, it would be great if the Supreme Court would slap down a few of these nationwide injunctions and I think kind of put, in a sense, put the district courts in their place and show them, listen, you do not have unlimited jurisdiction over any political issue that you wish to rule on.

Speaker 3 Your jurisdiction is limited.

Speaker 2 And there’s limited matters that are not political in nature. And I’d like, it’d be nice if we would see the Supreme Court kind of define those parameters a little bit more clearly.

Speaker 1 Understood. What else bothers you at three o’clock in the morning?

Speaker 2 Well, let me tell you that the midterms are the number one issue that we’ve got right now. We’ve got less than 60 days before the midterm elections. And our job right now is to show the American people the choice that they have in front of them. that you’ve got on the one hand, you’ve got Republicans who have

secured the border, which is a monumental achievement under President Trump’s leadership, has brought down inflation from 9% to the 2% to 3% range it’s at now, that has brought down the price of prescription drugs, that has made American cities... tangibly, noticeably safer, brought down the violent crime rate in the 1930s.

Speaker 3 I mean, just achievement. The other side of the aisle, you’ve.

Speaker 2 Got Democrats who are running on a platform of fundamentally destroyed America’s constitutional order.

Speaker 3 That is extreme. It’s radical. It’s defunding the police.

Speaker 2 It’s abolishing prisons. It’s abolishing the United States Senate, abolishing the presidency, defunding our military. These are extreme, extreme ideas that would fundamentally transform the United States. I think that the choice the American people have is, do you.

Speaker 3 Want America, the America that we know and love, to be preserved?

Speaker 2 Or do you want it to be fundamentally destroyed by the platform that the left is running on right now?

Speaker 1 You are 100% right, because the Democratic Party right now is being run by the Democratic Socialist Party, not being run by the regular Democratic Party. And I had former Vice President Pence in my office two weeks ago, And you know what he said? Maybe the Republican Party is not doing everything 100% right, but the Democrats under the

Democratic Socialist Party have completely lost their mind.

Speaker 2 One of the points I made in my talk at the convention was that, listen, both sides have their crazies as elected officials or crazy pundits. Both sides have people who are a little outside the bounds.

Speaker 3 Of political debate.

Speaker 2 The difference between Republicans and Democrats is that Democrats are nominating their crazies to run for Congress now.

Speaker 3 And they are elevating them.

Speaker 2 They are making them the leaders of the party, that their movement has gone so far extreme that it is just completely out of touch with mainstream Americans.

Speaker 1 Understood. Well, Congressman Brandon Gill, thank you. You’re one of the stars in Texas, and we’ll catch up with you again real soon.

Speaker 3 Thank you for having me. Thank you.
