Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning, the week after the Democratic Convention. What the heck is happening? What’s happening in the world? Which way are we going with us this morning? Is the former speaker Nuke Engladge, Nute, tell me what’s going on? What do you think?
Well, you know, one of the biggest things that hit me close and I had been at the Republican Convention, both gave speeches there, and then watching the Democratic Convention. What hit me was how profoundly different they were in their makeup. Republican Convention really was Donald Trump’s convention. A populist America, first mood of change in Washington, and an
aggressive desire to get us back to much more of a free enterprise capitalism and away from a big socialism was very clear in the Republican Convention. And you didn’t have you could see that the party takeover had had really truly been revolutionary. Now you didn’t have former President Bush, former Vice President Cheney, former vice president presidential candidate Paul Ryan.
You really had a profound change in the leadership of the Republican Party. By contrast, I was really struck that the Democratic Party was the machine gathering the very people who had kicked out Biden even though he had won ninety eight percent of the delegates. The bosses got it, and you got to hear the bosses. You got to
hear Hillary Clinton, You got to hear Bill Clinton, You got to hear the Obamas, you got to hear Nancy Pelosi. I mean the difference in the current makeup of the two parts, the degree to which the Democrats are now the entrenched party of the old establishment while the Republicans are going through a profound fundamental change. I thought it
was very, very interesting.
It was very interesting, but half the time I fell asleep because I was either in Europe, you know, Greece time, Greek time, when I was on vacation, or when I came home, I was still transitioning. Give me some many individuals.
You and Bill Clinton worked very very closely together, and you guys reduced the deficit from five and a half triggion down to five trinion. I give you both credit. Well, what did you think of Bill Clinton’s speech?
I thought the speech was pretty good, but he delivered it as though he was very tired. You know, you didn’t know the fire. I mean, Clinton used to be one of the best speechmakers I’ve ever seen. And I didn’t get that kind of a driving, exciting dancing with the crowd that you used to get out of Clinton speech.
And that surprised me. I thought Hillary actually had more energy and more drive in her delivery than Building. And it wasn’t that his speech wasn’t technically good. He’s a very smart guy, but he didn’t have the crowd moving the way he would have had four or eight or twelve years ago. By contrasts, you know, this is clearly
still the Obama Party. I mean, they love Michelle, they loved Barack. They delivered and interacted much more aggressively. I thought the first and I was a little sad in a way, and I think I sort of sensed that Biden had that same feeling that here are all the people who had knifed him in the back, chanting thank
you Joe, Thank you Joe. And I think he’s probably thinking himself, way a second, if you liked me that much, how come I’m not the nominee. And of course he slipped into so late at night. It was almost insulting to have the incumbent president of States not talk until then.
And then he immediately left got on an airplane and went to California, and I think they were there was a big sigh of relief because they would like to run a campaign in which they convince you that Kamela was never actually vice president, She had nothing to do with the last four years, and she agrees with you
that they were bad and we have to change, which considering that she has been vice president over a thousand, three hundred days, it’s kind of a remarkable. I think active Hutzburg.
Understood. I mean, I was with Bill Clinton’s speak. You know how much I love the guy. I’ve been I known him a long time. I just felt that he wasn’t didn’t have his heart in it. I mean, that was my opinion.
Yeah, I mean I I think he was going through the motions. He’d been asked to give a speech, and he ran long as usual, except that was a normal Clinton speech. But I agree, I think I think your instinct is exactly right. But what you didn’t get from Bill was, you know, a sense that he was engaged
and that this mattered to him, and in fact, there was a sadness. I mean, he talked about his age, and then he talked about the fact that this might be his last convention. It was kind of it was kind of almost a wistful tone that I was very struck by.
I had tears in my eyes when I when he said that this might be my last convention.
Yeah, and you could feel it that. I don’t know whether he has continuing health problems or a premonition or just you know that he’s tired. He’d be pointing out he’s been doing this. His first convention was nineteen seventy two.
I mean think about that. That’s I mean, he’s been coming to convenius for fifty two years and maybe he’s sort of conventioned out.
And President Biden does he realize he got stabbed in the back. I mean, it’s like all the brutuses around him were just young, and.
We were told, I don’t know if it’s trouble. We were told. He still has not talked to Nancy Pelosi, and I think he holds the Obama’s very directly responsible. He thinks that the Obamas pushed him out of the way in sixteen for Hillary, and then he thinks that they have sort of shoved him out and that they
basically Speaker Pelosi and the Obamas were the key driving force and kicking him.
Out absolutely one important.
Okay, he didn’t want to go.
He’s talking about speaker, the speaker, the speaker, the speaker. The first thing Speaker McCarthy did when he lost the vote is he went downstairs five minutes later and threw Nancy Pelosi out of her traditional speaker’s office. Even though she was not speaker, she kept that office. Does that mean she was still running things and he was promised
that things would go well on the vote.
Yeah, she had told him that they would never side with the guys who wanted to knock him out. And then of course she’s given a chance to knock him out as she broke her word. I think he took it.
You know, it’s been a weird year, and that’s what you think about it. You have McCarthy, who works his heart out, earns the speakers, gets stabbed in the back by about eight people. Then you have Biden who feels like he’s the only guy ever to beat Trump and that he’s still in pretty good shape, and bam, he
gets thrown out. And not just he gets thrown out, but within three or four hours, the party bosses have picked Kamala and She’s clearly going to be the nominee. Period done, no contest, no choice. The Democrats what tug about protecting democracy? They knocked out the incumbent president by a coup and then they turned around and imposed Kamala
Harris by a coup. And the average Democrat has nothing to say and no impact understood.
And you know, in the old days new our handshakes meant something. Today I think the handshake and Democratic Party means nothing.
Well, I think that due to a handshake, you better also keep your other hand free to block the knife that’s in the other hand. It’s really it’s a remarkable period. And of course they want to run a campaign now.
I’ve been watching with great interest when when she picked Walls the governor of Minnesota, I thought it was one of the weirdest decisions I’ve ever seen. He is he is the most radical governor in the country. Uh. He is a guy who is a serial liar. There’s a new report coming out that back when he first ran
for Congress, he claimed to have gotten an award from the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and they actually wrote him a letter and said you have to take this out of your campaign material. It’s not true. You never got this award. And every time you turn around with waltsh there’s something weird, you know, putting tampons in and boys
bathrooms for example. I mean, you have to be pretty far to the left to think that fourth, the fifth or sixth grade boys need to have tampons just in case. The whole process of his unwillingness to use the National Guard, letting the city of Minneapolis literally burn I think there were several hundred stores burned down while he did nothing
its walls is going to turn out to be a huge mistake on Paris’s part, both because he’s so totally dishonest and because he is so part of the left that he had a graduates all of our San Francisco radicalism.
I agree. Last question, in July, the Republicans are way ahead because of what the convention and everything. In early August, in the Convention, the Democrats seemed to start to go ahead. And I’ve told everybody September is coming out of time when people are really going to make their decisions. And what do you.
Think, Oh, look, I remember in nineteen eighty eight, Michael Ducaucus came out of the Democratic Convention and he was up by seventeen points, and Bush just chipped away at how radically was and by election day one in early four Americans had switched and we went from seventeen points up for Ducaccus to eight points up for Bush. Literally,
I switched of twenty five percent. I think as people look, for example, at her tax idea, which would destroy the economy, I mean, if you look at them, and then her idea that we’re going to tax, now you get all this because you’re a great businessman. The idea’s going to a tax on realized games. First of all, the bureaucracy
you’d have to set up to measure whether or not you get an unrealized game would be amazing. And second, that would mean that a company or an individual which had not sold anything could suddenly be head with a tax for which they had no money because they hadn’t sold it, and the government would force them to sell
it in order to pay the tax based on some bureaucracy’s evaluation. I mean, this kind of stuff will drive money out of the country and drive jobs out of the country, the kind of big government socialism which has never worked anywhere. And I was astonished when she when when Haras gave a speech to Friday before the convention.
Will you show up? Will you show up at a debate?
Oh sure, I mean, in fact, she’ll show up with some confidence. She’s a prosecutor, she’s glib, she’s willing to lie cheerfully. Actually, I think it will actually be an interesting debate. I mean, I suspect Crump will win, but you never can You can’t tell. But the problem of the Democrats. And I said this before the Trump Biden debate,
I said, I don’t care who is a debate, because two days later people are going to go into a grocery store and be reminded why they’re so mad. Well, she has the same problem. All the things that are real, the illegal immigration, the crime in the streets, the price of food, the fact we just we just told there
are a million fewer jobs than they had told us. I mean, all these different things are real. And the debate, you know, I mean, if Trump wins the debate, he’ll probably go on to crush her. But even if she would have won a debate, it’s very hard for her to get away from the scale of the failure of
what was after all, the Biden Harris administration and losing under NAT. She can to pretend she was never vice president, but that’s a pretty hard sell.
Newt Gingridge, thank you for your input, and speaker to speaker to speaker to speaker, let’s save America. Thank you very much, and we’ll catch up again real soon.
Great, thank you,
