Sunday morning, what is today is a speaker of newt gingriage and uh one good friend, once more. Guy, he’s done it all? Well, mister speaker, tell us, uh, give us an update of what do you think the heck was going on? And Iran, it seems like we’re going up and down the roller coaster.
I think that’s John. I think you’re exactly right. I think that depending on which fashion it seems stronger that day. There’s apparently a group who really want to negotiate. And as you know, my wife, Callista, is the ambassador to Switzerland, so we’ve watched the negotiations that are taking place here and you get this sense that there’s one group that
are religious fanatics who do not want to negotiate at all. And then there’s a group of more practical people who have basically said, look, you know, the Americans have caused so much damage to our economy and so much damage to our military. We ought to try to find a way to be able to work with them rather than
have them bombas some more. And I think, as your example, the roller coaster is a good one. You know, some days we’re up and things are starting to work, and then it goes down and things aren’t starting to work, and then the next day it goes back up. I mean, it’s very frustrating. I’m sure it’s very frustrating for Trump,
but it looks like in inch it’s getting a little bit better. And I think candidly the President has pivoted. His number one turn is getting the price the gasoline down because he knows that the electionist fall. If gasoline is wellbow of four dollars, the Republican’s probably going to win.
If gasoline’s above four dollars, Republican’s going to have a very hard time winning. So he’s shifted gears. And if I were the Iranians, I would think to myself, you know, the right time to cut a deal is now, because if we get through the election and Trump feels liberated, he may become much tougher and much more willing to
use force. And I would not presume that he is ever weak. He may be calculating, he may be careful, but I think he is a very tough guy. And I think he’s biding his time right now because if you tell the polls last week, people really liked having an armistice. They liked, you know, they were glad that
the killing had stopped. He had very strong polling numbers last week. And that’s why. Now, if gasoline comes down and inflation starts to come down, and the economy continues to grow at the rate it is, he may have a very strong case to make by September about why the Republicans ought to stay in power. And if you
add that to what the Democrats are doing and going crazy and going to the so far to the left the country, they choose to stick with the Republicans trying to get things done right, rather than go to a Democratic Party which increasingly seems to have lost its mind.
It seems when is the Democratic there’s a civil war going going to happen in the Democratic Party are the common sense people are going to put their foot down, you.
Know, I don’t know. I think they’re so intimidated. And if you just watch the body language of AOC or Mundami or these new manners who won the other night, they are so aggressive and they are so confident that they’re right, that it’s it’s, it’s it’s very difficult to see how you’re going to have a good conversation with them.
As a result, I think a lot of the moderates, you know, the very concept of being a moderate very often means you don’t want to fight. And I think that a lot of these guys just wish it would all go away. And it’s not going to go away.
Every every month that goes on, they’re going to recruit more young people. You know, the damage that the education system has done to this country, the degree to which it’s taught people things that are totally false, dishonest, UH is now all coming home to roost and we’re going to pay a significant price for having tolerated a propagandam
machine that was pretending to be an education system.
I agree with you, and we talked about it this week, that America is under attack in so many ways, the drugs, the drugs that are coming into the country, the foreign money that’s trying to influence politics, the the foreign money that’s trying to influence our education system. So we are under attack. I hope, I hope we’re smart enough to
be able to tackle lease.
Well. I have great belief in the all of them, a good sense, you know. Joseph Paterno was a democratic consultant or a terrific book called The Election Game and How to Win It, and his starting quote is, never underestimate the intelligence of the American people, nor overestimate the amount of information they have. And I’ve always thought that
that’s sort of been my motto for forty years, that if I can give you the facts and get you to look at the facts, you are, in fact most of the time come to the right judgment. And I think we’re in one of those great moments when what we’re going to have in the next few years is
an enormous debate about the nature of reality, about works and what doesn’t. And I think that we should we should feel confident that in the end, common sense will defeat fantasies, and facts will defeat people who are just emotional and have nothing goot to go for them. But it’s going to take a fight. It won’t happen overnight,
and it won’t happen if we’re passive and intimidated.
Lude Gingrich, thank you for your wisdom, thank you for speaking out and letting calming down the American people that at the end of the day will fix whatever is broken in our country will live on. And I pray, and I and we all we both work very hard.
And next week it’s the fourth and July weekend. And thank you so much. Take care,
