E Sunday morning, Memorial Day. Well, let’s go to Las Vegas and what us today is Peter Plivos and he is chairman of the Voice of the Veterans. And Peter comes from a family of five generations of military people.
And well, Peter, Memorial Day weekend, you’re gonna tell us how you feel about Memorial Day weekend and tell us a little bit about the Voice of the Veterans.
Owne John, and thank you for having me on your program, and also thank you for the great philanthropic work you do for our country. The Voice of the Veteran is one of the largest veteran organizations. We focus on taking care of veterans and military families. And we’re really excited because this year, on June sixth, twenty twenty six, we’re
doing one of the largest veteran events in the history of our country for over twenty thousand veteran and military families at a leeds In Stadium in Las Vegas.
In how many people are you expected?
We will have over twenty thousand families. It’ll be one of the largest events in our country. We’re going to honor our American heroes and the event is really incredible because we have a professional entertainment big and rich. We’ll do a free concert for our heroes. The military loves our events so much. They’re going to honor three war
our heroes at our event. And we’ve raised over three million dollars in goods which we were going to give all the way to the twenty thousand military families and veteran families that are attended our event. And everything is free, and we call it the Day of Gratitude.
That is wonderful news. Wonderful news. And Temmy, you come from five generations of military families, that’s a lot. Tell us a little bit about your family.
So my family came over from Greece in eighteen ninety and my mother’s maiden name was Guntanis. And when the family came over they some settled in Chicago, some moved out west to Nevada to become miners because back in those days, mining paid a lot of money. So in nineteen seventeen, when World War One broke out, my grandfather’s
two brothers, Spiro and Demetrios, were drafted to the US Army and they fought in World War One for the US Army. That was the first generation. And then we had members fighting in World War Two. Uncle Peter fought in Korea and cousins in Vietnam. And then my cousin, Navy Commander Demetrius Grinds, served during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.
So we’re very proud to be Americans. We love our country and respect for the men and women who wear our uniform runs through our DNA because our family has worn the proud uniform of the US military.
And well, that is wonderful news. And you know, I am glad that the military has come up to the strength. We’re number one military in the world right now. We’re well respected from the entire world. And like we said, freedom isn’t free. We have to remember that on Memorial Day, that there are sacrifices to to be made and a
lot of people paid with their lives to keep freedom.
You’re one hundred percent right. President Trump has done a great job to make America safer and stronger again. We are respected internationally. And there is a price to pay for successes, you know, whether it’s business success or military success or geopolitical success, there is a price. And this year, our special feature is we’re going to honor all all
World War Two heroes who are still with us. That’s the focus, and I’m doing the shutout on your program. If there’s any World War Two heroes out there, please come to a Llegiance Stadium. We will arrange for your travel.
We will give you free hotel reservations and accommodations. We’d love to honor you. The focus of this year’s event is to honor all World War Two heroes we’re still with us. John, there’s not many left. There’s a couple of thousand left according to the Veteran Administration, and here in Nevada, we only have about twenty left, and most
of them will be attending the event. And think about this as we think of a memorial days.
Is there a number that can call or is your website you can go to or to be able to make you aware of their existence.
Yeah, they can call me at seven oh two four zero eight to zero eight zero and I’ll set them up with their crew. We have, by the way, six hundred volunteers. We all work for a dollar a year.
We do it for one reason. We love our country. And this event is going to be incredibly beautiful because we’re gonna win that when we have a number probably about twenty thirty World War Two heroes, who by the way, are all over one hundred years old. When we had that group walk into the stadium, that stadium is gonna
go nuts. There’s gonna be a standing ovation, there will be people with tears in their eyes because these are the men and women from the America’s greatest generation.
Give me that number again. Give me that number again for all veterans that were World War Two. But give it to me real slow, so everybody could write it down.
Seven two for zero eight to zero eight zero seven.
O two for zero eight to zero eight zero. If you’re a World War Two veteran and want to participate in the Las Vegas in that arena on June sixth, call that number and Peter thank you for everything you’ve done for America, and thank you for everything your family has done for America. God bless you, and God bless America.
Thank you so much, Thank.
You so much. John, stay well,
