Automated transcript · uncorrectedWith us today is Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, Earl Seors, and she is working very hard to improve what’s going on in Virginia. And the typical problems that existed was our education system, and that’s why she got elected, and that’s why the governor, Young King got elected, and also the crime situation. Lieutenant Governor, give us an update what
is going on in Virginia.
Well, Hi, John, good morning or afternoon. I suppose whenever your listeners are hearing this, you know, I was raised in the Bronx, so I still at times consider myself a New Yorker. But here I am now in our great Commonwealth of Virginia, and we hope that things are improving.
We’re trying to get things improved. And I know that there are people who have said, well, we’ve given you the governorship, the Lieutenant governorship, the Attorney General’s House, and the House itself, and why aren’t things changing. And the fact of the matter is, John, we’ve still got a Senate that’s democrat in nature democratic and until we can
get the majority there, you can’t move very many mountains. And especially when the Democrats have decided that they are going to be a wall, and they’ve absolutely said that they’re going to be Wow.
I mean, the education system needs improvement and they’re stopping you.
Well, this is it. And it’s not all Democrats, you know. There We couldn’t have one in Virginia, John, unless we were able to convince enough Democrats and independent leaning Democrats that change was needed and we could be that bulwark for them for parents when it came to when it comes to their children’s education. And so they voted for us.
So we’re not talking about all Democrats. Where there are democrats we can work with, and then there are some they have control of the state Senate and they’re just determined that they’re not going to make any change, except they keep saying we need to keep throwing money at it and money at it, and that doesn’t do any good.
When the Democrats had full control of the process and the governor’s house, you know what they did when it came to fully funding education. Nothing, nothing, And now they’re blaming us that we’re not fully funding education. This is the stupidness we have to deal with.
Wow. And there’s so many things that all over our country. Our country has fallen behind on education. Here where I live in New York. I believe when we’re we’re down to fifty sixth in the world in education. I mean, for we spend the most money in the world and our kids are not getting.
Benefit of it, which is proof that the issue is not education. The issue as we see it, We’ve got problems in our society. You see it popping up everywhere. And what we need is the ability, John, And as businessman, you know this. When there is competition in the business environment, people either improve or things change very quickly. And if
somebody can build a better mouse trap, people are going to go there. What we’re saying is in Virginia that the parents want the ability to choose where their children should attend school period and the story, I am responsible for the education of my child, not the government. And if I want a better opportunity for my child somewhere else,
who are these politicians who are standing in the doorway blocking me from sending my child to the school that’s best for him. When did you become the parent? So what we’re trying to have is exactly that parents making that decision. And we have certain Democrats, the overwhelming majority of them, standing in the way. And yet John, you
know what we’re finding that these very democrats, they send their children to private school, believe it or not, send their children to private school. But the rest of us we can’t make that decision. It’s the new red line, which says, if you live in a neighborhood, that’s your school, and that’s your school only and only the rich really
have that kind of choice where you can still live in that same neighborhood, but send your child somewhere else. We want that opportunity for everybody.
I agree one hundred percent. Now, how is the crime situation up here in New York? A lot of people are leaving because the crime situation is out of control.
You know this thing about no cash bail ruin our country, It doesn’t make any sense, John, you hear that. I don’t even have words to express the nonsensical idea that you keep the criminals out of jail so that they can continue to destroy our society, so that they can continue to go back into the same neighborhoods and terrorize them.
It doesn’t make any sense. These are democratic policies that are destroying us. This isn’t common sense. Criminals belong behind bars because I have information here and we’re going to follow the science, John, You remember that follow the science.
So we’re going to look at the numbers. And according to the data, it says that when it comes to these bail reformers where no cash bail, crimes are committed at a forty three percent higher rate for no cash bail than if the criminals had stayed in jail while waiting for their arraignments and all of that to be decided.
Well, you know, in New York City, I am the chairman of the Police Athletic League and we take care of the inner city kids. And with no bail law, the inner city kids, the black and brown kids are suffering the most, and I can’t understand it.
This is what we’re trying to say. This isn’t a white and black racial problem. This is a political problem. These problems that our communities are suffering were caused by politicians who supposedly want equality and all that or equity, but it’s none of that. They’re terrorizing us, and we need to get a grip on it and figure out
who are we electing and are they really for us? Because I hear Republicans as supposedly the ones who hate people, but you know, if you say you love me, you got to show it. And if you’re letting out as Democrats, if you’re letting out these criminals and they’re terrorizing my community, that ain’t love John.
I know, I understand that completely. You know, I grew up in Harlem, and I understand that a lot of the Democrats are even criticizing you, calling you a blackface of white racism. I mean, which is.
Oh crazy, because it’s crazy. And the reason why they’re doing it is because they’re only concerned about power. They’re concerned that here I am a black woman, an immigrant, because I’m the one who stepped off the plane from Jamaica landing in the Bronx, and they’re the ones who are concerned about I may be able to talk to
a group of people who look just like me, have the same issues that I have, and pull them away from the Democratic Party. My idea is not to have political control. It’s to show people we can have a choice.
We owe nothing to politicians. The politicians are supposed to answer to us, whether they be Republicans, Democrats, Green Party, Reform Party, whatever it is. This is America. We the people aren’t in charge, not the politicians. I agree.
So that’s what they’re afraid of. They’re afraid of someone like me who has freedom of thought.
Well, Lieutenant Governor Sears, thank you so much, calling in from Virginia this morning, and let’s fight for America and make it a better world to live in for everybody.
We have to, John, because my dad only came with a dollar seventy five in his pocket at what seventeen days for Martin Luther King Junior gave us I have a dream speech. There were real dog whistles. A black man who begged to come into the country at that time because he saw opportunity. John, You remember in the
old country where you were born, only rise as far as your father got. But in America it’s different. And you know who knows that, the people too, who are trying to come from.
Now, Lieutenant governor of a very big state, thank you so much. Take care, We’ll catch up soon.
