Speaker 1 Good morning, America. This is the Cats Round Table, and today is Greek Easter. And so many people said to me, well, Greek Greek Easter, Catholic Easter, Protestant Easter, Passover, give us all the differences. Well, last week we had Cardinal going on to speak for Catholics, and we had Rabbi Protectionnik to speak about the Passover. Today we have the former

Vicar General of the Greek Orthodox Church of North America also representing his old Holiness, the Patriarch and Constantinople. We have Father Alex Carluzzos. Father Alex to tell you know, most of the American people don’t understand the timing of Passover and Catholic Easter, Protestant Easter, and Orthodox Easter. Tell us what’s going on.

Speaker 2 Well, in relationship to the calendars, of course, we’re all celebrating those, let’s say, Catholic and Protestants Easter, but in Greek we also call it Pasca, which means from the Jewish tradition of Passover. So basically what has happened Easter.

The date is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox, which means March twenty first so the first Sunday after the first full moon is Easter. However, the Orthodox wanted to honor Passover of our brothers and sisters in the Jewish tradition, so the first Passover Pasca occurs and then the second Passover Pasca the Resurrection of Jesus.

Easter is celebrated by the Orthodox once Passover is complete. So that’s why we have a difference with our brothers and sisters in the Christian tradition, Catholic and Protestants. And we are celebrating Orthodox Easter this week. Russian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Greek, all of the Athodox Christian churches around the world are celebrating Easter. In the United States and specifically in the Habits.

We get a great deal because all they we get all our Eastern candy at a discount, so where all the kids are happy.

Speaker 1 Yes, you buy all the Orthodox Christians by the Easter candy a week later and you get it for a half price.

Speaker 2 From from what the cat is doing, I want to find it out. One is that everybody there at christiities get a discount. I love it, I love.

Speaker 1 It, thank you, and I hope you’re enjoying a great Uh, Easter Sunday with your family and and and you. By the way, the Catholics, uh, the Orthodox have a midnight Mass at Easter and then you break the fast afterwards.

The Catholics who not have a midnight Mess.

Speaker 2 No, the Catholics do the midnight Mass for Christmas. We do it at Easter. We close the lights in the entire church. The priest comes out with one candle, then it lights from one person to the other. The whole church lights up, which in christ has risen. It’s a big celebration. And then you break the fast and everybody

goes out and they’re going out for Lamb and all the wonderful traditions of Musaka the busy show. And at our home today we are with We’ll have seventy five eighty people from different parts of the world, Nigeria, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, the United States are Jewish brothers and sisters and Mike Kubadi and I’m looking forward to seeing them and it’ll

be a wonderful time. And it’s all happening today. So we’re really excited. And we thank you John for giving this opportunity to say hello to everybody and greet them in love. East knows about resurrection and forgiveness, and we’ve always got to move forward in love and forgiveness.

Speaker 1 Well, thank you so much for coming on, thank you for explaining it to everybody. And we’ll celebrate it. And and I hope that God prays for our city or state or country in the world because of everything that’s going on.

Speaker 2 Father, Well, look at the betrayal. Look at we talk about the betrayal of Judas. At this point, this guy Jack ticks here, what’s going on, the betrayal of our country. All of us have to be dedicated to America. And we’ve got to put America first, above our politics, above our person It’s got to be God bless America, and

we always got to make sure that America is always doing God’s will. And these people that are constantly undermining our fabric are just dangerous. So we have to be able to forgive them, but they also have to meet punishment for what they’ve done.

Speaker 1 That’s so agreed, Father, Alex. Enjoy Easter and we’ll catch up again in the after Easter. Okay, buddy,
