Speaker 1 Well, it’s Sunday morning.

Speaker 2 Every Sunday morning, we get together with Governor David Pattison, and he gives us this common sense of what’s going on in our city or state or country. Governor Patterson, we got fifty eight to fifty nine days left for the election. Give us an update. What do you think is going on in Washington? What do you think is

going on with Tamala Harris? With Donald Trump?

Speaker 3 You tell us, well, John Moore, immediately, we have fifty eight or fifty nine hours until their debate on Tuesday night. Some say it’s their first debate. Some don’t think that they’ll debate a second time. And I think there are three measures that will give us an idea. Which one of them is answering the call. The first one is

self awareness, and this goes for both of them. The people around you are going to tell you that the other candidate is stupid, the other candidate is unqualified, the other candidate doesn’t know the issues, the other candidate doesn’t have any morals. If you choose to believe that, you will do what Hillary Clinton did in twenty sixteen when

she walked into to a debate with Donald Trump thinking she was running into debate with a moron, and she got her clock clean. But then again in two thousand, Donald Trump had no respect for Biden, thought this is going to be a walk in the park. Biden out trumped Trump in that first debate, and that set the

motion for him to win the election. Then, So what I’m saying is Bill Russell, the basketball player, once wrote a book that I read when I was a kid, and he said that whoever he was guarding, he assumed that they were the best player on the court. What he wanted to do is try to keep up to them.

In other words, you don’t say it out loud, but you better have a little respect for your adversary or they might surprise you. That’s the first thing. Second thing is both candidates have got to be aware of the CounterPunch.

The CounterPunch is when you make a point about your administration and what it’s done, and the other candidates for a list and a whole lot of ways to believe that it has than done. So with President Trump, he’s softened a little bit on some of the procedures involving pregnant women. Now, the problem is that if he says

that Harris has all kinds of quotes she can give about him over the years that will kind of negate that. Similarly, Harris on Tuesday, No Wednesday, gave this speech about developing small businesses, and later on on a lot of the media they demonstrated that the Biden administration didn’t really spend any money on small businesses, So how can she say

she’s defending their record and doing it now. So that’s the second issue. The final issue, I think is just your overall decorum. You’re not really debating the American. You’re not really debating the other candidate as much as you are trying to demonstrate to Americans that you’re the best person for the job. So a lot of times when

I debated in races I was in, I would actually give my opponent a, you know, a little compliment where they did something, but then go on to demonstrate that I knew the issue better than they did. And I think this is important that you remember that the people who are watching are going to be voting, and it’s

not about making the other person look bad. It’s making yourself look like the right person to lead this country through what I think is going to be a very difficult next couple of years, given all of the foreign affairs problems that we have now.

Speaker 2 The first first step, you are confident that Kamala Harris will show up for the debate of this Thursday, it’s Tuesday, next Thursday. Is it Tuesday next Thursday? I don’t know, Okay, but you’re confident she’s going to show up.

Speaker 3 Absolutely. If she doesn’t show up for the debate, she should go back to wherever she lives and not come out for the rest of the campaign.

Speaker 2 Because I’ve been talking all week and WABC has been taking a survey all week that fifty four percent field that she’s not going to show, forty five percent field she is going to show.

Speaker 1 And the reason being.

Speaker 2 What I said on the air is if she screws up the debate, she loses for sure.

Speaker 1 If she doesn’t show up for the debate, she doesn’t.

Speaker 2 If she doesn’t show up for the debate and she’s just sick, she might not lose that much.

Speaker 3 Well, I mean, if if she or President Trump got sick, and at least Biden’s trying to say that he shouldn’t have gone to the debate now because he was sick, they could have rescheduled the debate. But if she just doesn’t show up for the debate, I think she’s completely wiped out.

You can’t be talking about out of the debate. She was talking about Trump trying to back out of the debate last week. You can’t do that. That’s not going to happen. I’ll take that bet any day. I think we do have a bet, John.

Speaker 1 Okay, all right, we doubled a bet from one dollars.

Speaker 3 To two dollars to two dollars.

Speaker 2 Okay, all right, okay, what else Sunday morning? We got time to talk about a few more things. Anything else you’d like to talk about.

Speaker 3 Well, it’s very interesting because we’re now just about to go into twenty twenty five, which will take the three major offices in New York City government. The Mayor, of the public Advocate, and the Controller will all be running.

The Controller. Brad Lander has decided that he wants to run for mayor against Mayor Adams, and they’re like a million people trying to run for Controller. I get the feeling half of them can’t even count. But we are moving into that sort of local political scene which will really start to warm up once the general election gets over.

I just think John that Eric Adams is not perfect. He’s different from other mayors that we’ve had, but in some ways he’s the same. He’s defended the police department certainly as much as Mayor Koch and Mayor Julianni did.

He has really talked about the migrant situation, how it’s being dumped on the cities. Other public officials have real quit and want to offend anybody. He actually did, and for some reason, it’s just not moving the needle. His poll numbers aren’t going up. However, if somebody thinks that’s enough to come into a Democratic primary and run against him,

they might get a rude awakening because I think that his base is still strong.

Speaker 1 Okay, let’s see what happens.

Speaker 2 I mean, it’s fifty eight days, fifty nine days, whatever the number is. Governor Patterson, your one common sense guy, Thank you for your input.

Speaker 3 Anything else, No, John, it’s just over the weekend, you celebrated a birthday and on behalf of all the listeners. I want to wish you a happy birthday, and you had a great event on Friday, so you couldn’t be happier right now?

Speaker 2 Well, God bless, let’s have more good times together. And I enjoy you being together and celebrating together always, and the God bless America and God bless you

Speaker 3 Too, and you too, John, take care,
