Speaker 1 With us this morning is doctor Mark Siegel. He’s on Fox News all the time, and uh, doctor Mark Seagull. Uh, there’s a lot of things happening. What do you want to talk about on a Sunday morning.

Speaker 2 Well, you know, this week I was on out Numbered on Fox and we were sitting there about to talk about the flip flopping of of Kamala Harris on h on Silicon Valley and of course on cracking. But as we’re about to launch into that, the horrible shooting occurs, or it was about an hour after that horrible shooting

in Georgia, And what came up over the course of the shooting was the emergency response John, which looked like it was good. Unfortunately, four people ended up dying. You know, gunshot wounds are very, very tricky and difficult to deal with.

But what came up later that I’ve been focusing on is the mental health of the shooter and the fact that there appears to have been a lot of warning signs here, which is which is typical, and then law enforcement didn’t necessarily act on it. He was on FBI radar, but they didn’t act on it. And what I want

the listeners to know is it’s not like people snap. You know, we were brought up with movies. Somebody snaps. People don’t snap. Usually there’s a long prodrome of that violent thinking, aberant behavior, changes in moods, somebody that’s acting strange. Now, of course, we don’t want schools breathing down the necks of our children. But you know, I think this points

out the lack of mental health in the United States not adequate, the lack of mental health observations in schools not adequate, the fact that social media and copycat killings and anxiety and depression is on a tremendous rise in our teens. It’s a very dangerous time.

Speaker 1 Understood. Now, what’s happening to these kids? They just want to show the kids in their school with a big shot. They are, Well, what do you think it is? You know, you’ll life, is there a bit of a psychiatrist? What do you talk about?

Speaker 2 Well, I think that you’re onto something. Some of it is, you know, some kind of sense of prowess, but the other part of it is dissociation. You know, this is where the shooter is not thinking of the victims as human beings. They’re just it’s just psychotic because there’s no valuing of human life. And I think we’re heading more

and more as a society in that direction where if somebody disagrees with you, you squash them, you know, instead of instead of trying to figure out what people are saying and why. One of the things you’re great at, John is bringing out different points of view. You’ve done that all the time. You do it at those breakfasts

we’ve had. You do it all the time, and you’re open to what people are thinking, and that is actually becoming retro when it’s actually really really important. So I think we’re building on a time of divisiveness and hatred, and then on top of that, a kid like this probably becomes psychotic, but again not overnight. It’s something that

there’s a lot of warning signs for. People should be on the lookout for change of behavior, for anger, for misdirected anger, for people that flat out reveal these thoughts violence, social media pintings where you put something up on social media that shows that hatred and anger.

Speaker 1 Well, yes, see, absolutely correct. I don’t know what we can do about it, but naturally, you know, talk about democrats or republicans. The democrats are going to say well, take everybody’s gun away from them, But I don’t think that’s the answer anyway. Well, the criminals always be the criminals will always find a way to get a gun.

Speaker 2 I agree with that totally. By the way, there’s been a lot of attension on that, but a criminal will find a way to get a gun. We certainly should do more background screenings, mental health screenings. But you know what happened in London when they baned guns is that there were more murders by knifings. I mean, you’re not

going to take away the problem by taking away the weapon. The problem is mental health and lack of mental health screenings and looking the other way and not and giving schools too much power too John, which is something that we’re against. Also, somehow you’re handing your child over to a school and then suddenly they’re vulnerable to something like

this and they’re on the increase. And here’s the other problem. Once a shooting like this occurs, everybody feels unsafe. Every school around the country feels unsafe. Are we going to be next? Statistically it’s still low, but it doesn’t feel that way. And the last thing you want is your child to go to school and feel like something could happen.

Speaker 1 Absolutely correct. Tell us what else is going on in the world. You know. I spoke to my assistant, Matt Wanning, and he says that you were you either liked it or didn’t like it. These new weight loss drugs, I like.

Speaker 2 Them, but I’m also looking at them cautiously. What’s happening with the new weight loss drugs is we’re finding more and more that they have positive impacts on the body independent of weight. They’re helping the heart. There’s a new study out that you’re much less likely to die of a heart attack or to have a problem with the

heart if you’re on these drugs. We know that they’re protective of the kidney. We know that they were finding out that they decrease the risk of Alzheimer’s out of cognitive problems. But on top of that, they decrease inflammation in the body. Am I saying everybody should take them? No.

I want diabetics to use them, for sure, and for extreme weight gain, yes, for sure. But we’re becoming a society where we just sit on our duff. We don’t exercise, we don’t eat right well, I would say, as an interness, I rather that we use a drug like ozembic or logovi or zeb bound to get the weight off so

that our blood pressure comes down, or a sleep apnea goes away, or we have less of a risk of heart attack or cancer. So I’m for these drugs, but I want them to be prescribed john by reputable people.

Speaker 1 I understand that. And you know, I had kidney problems fifteen years ago and I was on that Gila Monster drug and some of the doctors blamed.

Speaker 2 On that, and that’s possible. I mean, thank god you have survived that. You know, You’re making a really good point here, which is that we have to always consider long term side effects of drugs that we may not know.

That’s why I’m hesitant to to say just everybody should be on this. I mean, you know, there’s there’s so much of a surge on this talk about investments. You’re always talking about investments. This sector is on fire, and they’re going to be coming out with pills too, company Viking Amjen Lily.

Speaker 1 So we’ve got to be careful. We’ve got to be careful, but we got.

Speaker 2 To be careful. We’ve got to be careful. And you know, this place is like in Beverly hills. You can get them almost in a dispensing machine. Literally tell you by somebody who never even met doctor Sego.

Speaker 1 Would you take the new a vaccine that’s coming out for the new new new.

Speaker 2 COVID depends if you’re in a high risk group, if you have chronic illness, if you’re elderly. I would absolutely consider it. I think it’s gotten a lot of bad press, but I think it matches the strain that’s going around right now. Now. The strain that’s going around right now is a lot milder than what we’ve had before, so

it’s got to be thought of judiciously. And a lot of us have immunity in our bodies from prior COVID or prior vaccine. So it’s a doctor patient situation where you know each patient has to be considered. If you’re immune compromised, if you’ve got chronic illness, if you’re elderly, I definitely would consider it.

Speaker 1 Doctor Marxiegel, thank you so much, Sunday mornings. Good things to ponder about, and we’ll catch up again real soon.

Speaker 2 Always great to be on with you, John. Happy Sunday
