Speaker 1 Sunday Morning with us today is Steve Kates, otherwise known as Doctor Sky, a good friend and makes our minds wander on a Sunday morning, we look up in the skies and someday we’re going to find out the truth.

What the heck is going on up the Steve Kates Sunday Morning, Where do you want to start?

Speaker 2 Good morning, John, brief update on the Boeing Starliner of course returning of course to Earth as that was long overdue as many people do know that have obviously never had the two other astronauts on board. But what’s interesting about this, John, They’re going to have to remain up there.

We keep hearing in the mainstream news till February of twenty twenty five. But what are they going to do to get them back? So hopefully later this month Faith Thanks will launch a crew Dragon nine in spacecraft, not with four astronauts on board, but two. And the interesting story is part of US Space Force is Colonel Nick Hay.

He is obviously the guardian and what he’s going to be doing is he’s responsible for maintaining how they’ll get back. They’re bringing up extra space suits. They’re going to make sure that those astronauts are well taken care of. But the sad part about it is that ship doesn’t undock again until February. What a long stay in space.

Speaker 1 That’s a long long stay in space. We’re not gonna they’re gonna undock the Boeing portion of it and try to return it back empty.

Speaker 2 Yes they are, John, And right now, probably what people will know if that has successfully happened. It’s supposed to have happened this past Friday. And again the part that they really need to examine, in other words, when sadly, when aircraft crash and they want to check the engines and look around and find the black box on this one,

the big part of the spacecraft on the Starliner, which is the service module that of course has all the thrusters. But it burns up in the atmosphere, so we’ll never really get to see what was wrong and how or how poorly those helium thruster leaks were of interesting story.

Speaker 1 The truth will burn up never to be known again. Something similar to that is that something similar to the cremation of the guy that tried to shoot Trump.

Speaker 2 Oh you right spot on, John, Absolutely strangeness continues to grow in many areas, but hopefully the astronauts will return safely to Earth as time permits. But one quick story too is SpaceX’s success. By now hopefully they’ve launched Polaris Dawn.

And this is Jared Isaacman, a multi billionaire who he and his crew privatizing of space. They’re headed up about eight hundred or so miles above the Earth, which is a record distance. They’re going to be testing out part of Starlink, you know, of course Elon Musk communication system in space, and he will be doing the first private

space walk. Now that’s amazing story. So we wish them well as SpaceX continues to tom the news at least from the space side that we know about that is interesting. But John, there’s so many more things to talk about.

Sunspot cycles twenty five. We heard about the big solar superstorm in May. Well, it ain’t over yet, folks, as they say. And here’s the deal. Solar sunspot twenty five cycles twenty five. We’re supposed to peak probably sometime last year, but it may continue, John, in full force for another year or two because two massive coronal mass ejections blasted

off the Sun last week on the far side of the Sun. Lucky for us, we certainly are not in the past. But the planet Venus absorbed all those that’s another story. But we don’t know anybody up there on Venus to get a live report. Absolutely, And now tell us what don’t go John, Yeah, the mystery of the week.

How about this? This is really bizarre. Here’s the question. Is space really a vacuum? Albert Einstein had a problem thinking that. Of course there were some particles in space. So when we think of space as empty, no, it’s not, because John, cosmologists and quantum physicists believe many particles in the universe pop in and out of this so called vacuum. Now,

these particles are electromagnetic waves. They are all possible components of the great mystery called dark matter, which supposedly binds things like galaxies together in the universe. But Eden stranger people have asked, what’s the coldest temperature that you could ever have in the universe? We simply call it absolute zero.

How cold is it? Minus four point fifty nine points six seven degrees fahrenheit? John, And nothing can attain that temperature. But wait, there’s a nebula out in the universe called the Boomerang nebula five thousand light years from the Earth, and it is the coldest place in the entire universe.

It’s only a degree above that absolute zero. Nobody understands why this particular object, a nebula, like a small galaxy or a bunch of gas and dust, can even be that cold. But on the reciprocal side, theoretically, what’s the highest temperature that we could ever imagine? And the quantum physics, John, we don’t make it up. It’s called a plank temperature.

It’s where the physics rules break down. And here’s the temperature, John, Imagine that we’re in Phoenix where we’ve had one hundred days of one hundred degrees plus. But a plank temperature. Get a look at this, folks, John. One hundred million, million, million, million million degrees fahrenheit. Now that is something to talk about.

How about that stuff? Amazing?

Speaker 1 That that is amazing. Now I am intrigued with what’s underneath Antarctica. I am intrigued. You know the other thing I’m intrigued with Steve case how and we’ve talked about it. How at the edge of South America, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Pacific ocean. It’s like two different oceans and two different colors, and they don’t intertwine. I still,

in my head, I cannot believe why they don’t intertwine and mix together.

Speaker 2 Well, John, that occurs in other places around the world, But if in the viewer’s mind, since radio is the theater of the mind, imagine it’s this way, like an estuary we would call it. You’re right, salt water meets up with fresh water.

Speaker 1 And what happens both of salt water, the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean of.

Speaker 2 Both salt No there, you’re correct, and there’s exactly the mystery that nobody seems to understand how and why the mixing of salinity water, like you just said, can remain there as like a barrier between the two. Interesting stuff.

Maybe it’s more chemical components in there, more elements. We’re not really sure, but this occurs, as you mentioned, with salt water. But it also has a thing we call an estuary where you see rivers that have fresh water meet up with salt. That’s a mystery. We’ll have to explore, John, and further additions to find out what the heck is

going on.

Speaker 1 It is mind boggling but Doctor Skuy Steve Kates, thank you for moving our minds forward every Sunday morning, and we’ll catch up again real soon.

Speaker 2 Always a pleasure. Check us out the Doctor s Guy Experience where WABC Radio dot com and honor to be with you John and the listeners on this Sunday morning. Have a great day. YouTube
