Astronomer Steve Kates tells John Catsimatidis that a fast radio burst can match several days of the sun’s energy in a fraction of a second. He says the farthest may lie 11 billion light-years away, from neutron stars only 12 to 17 miles across. He notes a space academy President Trump announced on August 28, aimed at 2031, and the Orionid shower peaking Tuesday night.

Key takeaways

  • Kates said one fast radio burst may come from 11 billion light-years away.
  • He said the suspected sources are neutron stars only 12 to 17 miles across.
  • Kates said President Trump announced a space-operations academy on August 28, for 2031.
  • He said the Orionid shower, from Halley’s Comet, peaks Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Speaker 1 Sunday morning.

Speaker 2 With us today is Steve Cates, otherwise known as Dr. Sky. And so many things are going on up there. Well, on Sunday mornings, well, we let our minds wander. Well, Steve Cates, what’s going on this week?

Speaker 1 Well, happy Sunday, John. And here’s something fascinating from astronomy. Really amazing. Mind-blowing. Fast radio bursts. Now, these are powerful signals. Way more powerful than the powerhouse WABC. But what are fast radio bursts? John, deep in the cosmos comes the most powerful, intense, millisecond-long flashes of high-powered radio waves. Now, here’s something amazing. They release as much energy in a

fraction of a second as the sun emits in several days. So here’s the bottom line on this. The most distant fast radio burst is one that recently was detected and possibly coming from a galaxy 11 billion light-years away with two magnetars. These are stars, John, where they think the source of this is. A magnetar is a highly magnetized

neutron star. And the neutron stars, John, are only 12 to 17 miles in diameter. Radio telescopes and the James Webb telescope help determine the location of this cosmic mystery. That is totally amazing, the power of these signals.

Speaker 2 I mean, that is a long way to go. And really, nobody really knows the intent or how it happens or anything like that. So a lot of things to scratch our head about.

Speaker 1 Absolutely, John. And closer to home, here’s a question. What is the U.S. Space Academy? Here’s something interesting. This was proposed, the American Space Service Academy for Space Operations, announced by President Trump on August 28th of this year. What is it?

It’s a training academy for NASA, the Space Force, and the private spaceflight sector. They’re set to get in full motion by 2031. It’ll be something similar to like West Point, the Merchant Marine Academy. Where it’s to be headquartered, John, is still up in the air. Many states are vying for that honor of having the Space Academy, U.S. Space Academy,

at their location. So with President Trump’s leadership, not only developing the Space Force in 2019, but But this looks like a really positive way to teach, educate, and bring forth some of the best candidates, not only in the military, but also in the private sector. I think you’re pretty excited about that, too, I would imagine. You’re certainly right.

I mean, I.

Speaker 2 Think things are moving at warp speed right now, and God knows what else. Anything else? Anything going on on Mars or the moon? Or do you tell us?

Speaker 1 Well, John, I got a real mystery here, and this one comes out by a new book. It’s called Out of the Shadows by a government senior intel officer named Jay Stratton. Now, we’ve heard the story about the government claims, and that is whistleblowers, that the U.S. government and other nations have captured UFO UAPs and bodies. But he brings

some amazing information in his book, The True Nature of the UAP Mystery. He claims the U.S. government, as I mentioned before, does indeed have these captured craft from a long time ago and the bodies. But he also claims that many UAPs, all these particular sightings, the important ones, are all attracted to global nuclear weapons and nuclear weapon facilities.

So his government group, how about this? He set a trap, as he said, for any UAP by sending a U.S. nuclear submarine, John, out to sea just to see if indeed on the surface if these UAPs would appear. And they had a P-3 Orion surveillance craft, the Navy guy craft, flying around above it. And he claims in his book

that this all was recorded so that there is some connection. Isn’t that bizarre? To whoever or whatever these alien craft are, the origins, they seemingly retracted to anything that has nuclear in their vocabulary. And that’s an amazing story, John, an amazing story in a book called Out of the Shadows by senior intelligence officer Jay Stratton. More to come on

this as we dig into it. Pretty fascinating. That is fascinating.

Speaker 2 And you feel this guy’s legitimate? Did you check his credentials?

Speaker 1 Absolutely. One of the highest-ranking members of this whole U.S. military. And it’s interesting, John. I was watching on Fox News television just a few days ago. Brent Baer had a very interesting, exclusive interview with this individual. And we, of course, here, don’t want to be left behind. So we here... Dr.

Sky and the Dr. Sky Experience and other great shows here on the station. We’re pursuing this guest to see if we can hear the continuous and what other mysteries lie in the book, Out of the Shadows. Amazing stuff, John.

Speaker 2 Well, thank you so much. Anything else? You usually have a mystery of the week.

Speaker 1 Well, that would be the mystery. Okay. The mystery. What’s going on in the UAP world? Because if indeed, John, the big question is, when are we ever going to hear about Disclosure? But for people looking in the sky, John, this is something powerful. It’s not just what we think is up there. You’ll find the moon moving on to

its first quarter tonight. Why is that important? Because if you look into the eastern sky, we see the planet Saturn. And we’re getting set, John, for later this week, a meteor shower called the Orionid. It peaks Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. And if you look east, you might see maybe 10 or 20 meteors. They’re all part of Halley’s Comet.

It’s called the Orionid. So we call it the live sky, exciting things for people to see whether they live in big, powerful, brightly lit cities or even out in the country. Always amazing stuff. And check out the Dr. Sky experience proudly to be here on this radio station every Friday midnight to 2 a.m. Saturday and then Saturday night to 2 a.m.

Sunday morning about the many mysteries not only in the world of space and science, but stories of American exceptionalism, John, in this important election site. Steve Cates, thank you so much.
