Speaker 1 Sunday morning, Labor Day Weekend with us this morning is Wilba Ross. He was a Secretary of Commerce under President Trump. And one more guy, one good friend. Well the Secretary Ross, where do you think we are in the process of the election? Where do you think we are in the process of getting our products through the system.

Speaker 2 Well, those are two very good questions, John. In terms of the electoral process, I think it was inevitable that Kamala Harris would get two big bumps early on. One bump was because the left point media were so happy that they had knocked Biden off the ballot that they had to build her up, and they did, even to

the point of denying their own prior stories. When she was appointed the borders are, there were congratulations all over the media about that. But since she never did anything about the border, now they were all saying, oh, she is never the borders are, so they were willing to go to any lengths to promote The second reason she

would get a bump. You always get a bump if you’re a new face, then you’ve just been nominated by a convention, and that’s what happened with her. So I think the real question is what happens once those bumps were off. And I think especially to the degree that the Trump Advance ticket focuses on the issues which are

many and are real, and provokes her to come forward with her own views, her own policies and debate the publicly, then I think we’ll have a real test of what the public thinks. Right now, she’s a new faith and they’re being overwhelmed with one sided material. So I think you’ll start to see that ware off and we’ll get

back to the real election. And especially by the time of the debate, I think the debate will be a very, very important one. This time. It’s always important, but here where people don’t really know Kamala Harris and don’t really know what her policies are and don’t really know know how she behaved, I think this time the debate will

be especially important.

Speaker 1 So, I you know, I don’t think she’s going to be a great debater. Are they really going to allow her to debate the President Trump, who is a great debater?

Speaker 2 Right? The only danger is Trump being big and strong and a man. He has to be careful not to be seen as piling on a woman. People don’t like to see a woman pushed too hard. So I think you should hopefully make the debate bee about the real topics, the inflation, the world’s situation, the border, all the things

that people are really very worried about. And I think he needs to smoke her out as to what are her positions on those topics and subjects, then to real debate. I think you see six of those issues. I think he’ll do fine. I doubt if she has well formed opinions on any of those topics.

Speaker 1 On interest rates, Secretary Russ, A lot of people think it’s going to be a quarter point. Do you have an opinion? Because I feel they have to do at least half a point because things are going to wrong to it.

Speaker 2 Well, I think, frankly, the most important thing is that he apparently is deciding to cut rates because he’s worried about the economy. I’m frankly much more worried about making sure that we really kill inflation. So I would like him to be a little temperate. Not that I don’t think we need grape cuts. I think we do, but

it doesn’t have to be all in one shot. I think two sequential ones of a quarter point each would do just about as much good as one of the half points. So I think it is right probably to make a change in direction. But I think you want to be really careful that we’ve killed inflation, not just

that it’s temporarily in hiding, because if it does come back in a big form, that’s going to be really terrible. That it’ll be terrible for the American consumer, be terrible for the whole country. So I would tend to tread a little lately.

Speaker 1 You got a new book, and yeah, the book is called The Risk and Returns Creating Success in Business and Life. When is the book out there?

Speaker 2 Comes out on the tenth of September, so just two days from now.

Speaker 1 That’s so wonderful. And tell us a little bit about the book.

Speaker 2 Yeah, the purpose of the book is the following. I’ve met a lot of interesting characters over my lengthy life and had dealings with them, and a lot of the anecdotes are interesting. But more importantly, they are trying to take each anecdote and make it into something that gives a useful message to people that could help them in

their career or and in their life. And the basic themes of the book are, first of all, get back to the American Dream, get back to the concept that hard work and careful thinking and taking opportunity is the way you want to build your life. Too many people now, especially young people, are adverse to work. They just don’t

want to work. In fact, John, that may amaze you. There’s actually been put up a Reddit site that has six million subscribers and it’s dedicated to anti work messages. Six will put on it, six million yes, and people put on it messages like I just can’t force myself to go to work and more.

Speaker 1 Wilbur, those people, those people are going to be failures in life. I can guarantee that well.

Speaker 2 I agree with you, John, And the purpose of my book is try to help them understand that that’s a very very wrong way street to go up. They should go back to the American Dream understood. That’s one of the big messages in the book.

Speaker 1 Secretary Wilbur Ross, thank you so much for coming on. Your new book is going to be a great hit, risk and returns Creating success in Business and life, coming out September tenth. You buy it on Amazon or Bonds and Noble. Thank you so much, and we’ll catch up again real suit.

Speaker 2 Thank you very much, John, I enjoyed being on
