Speaker 1 Labor Day weekend, Sunday morning. Well with us this morning is Bruce Blakeman, the county executive for Nashville County, and he’s been doing one hell of a job. And Bruce Braakman, tell us what’s going on, give us a review for what’s going on in Nashall County on this Labor Day weekend.

Speaker 2 Well, a couple of weeks ago, our county legislature passed the first ban on masks since coronavirus. And recently we had an individual arrested. A person in the community called nine one one and said someone had a mask on in the neighborhood. The police went to investigate and basically he was wearing a mask. They stopped him, they started

to question him, and they noticed that he had a bulge hence and they uncover a Rambow style fourteen inch knife and subsequently learned that this individual, who was only eighteen, was an illegal immigrant and may have prize to various gangs.

Speaker 1 Wow, I mean, Bruce brake when your job is the chief nationale county safe and tell us the results.

Speaker 2 Well, we are now the safest county in America according to US News and World Report. I’ve hired in the last two years an additional two hundred police officers. We already have what I believe is the best police department in the United States. We have a very energetic and active and very competent police Commissioner, pat Ryder And this

is just another tool. Masi Pillup, who is a legislator, came up with the idea of the mass and within two weeks we had an arrest with somebody who was about to commit a crime, or we believe was about to commit a crime, and they had a fourteen inch knife and gain connections and they were illegal immigrants. So

that individual was let out without bail because of the stupid and dangerous state laws. With castless bail, that person is illegally in this country because ICE is not able to detain that individual after they’re arrested, which is absolutely absurd.

And if it weren’t for our legislature and for the tip that the individual gave us because they knew we had a law against wearing masks in public unless it’s a health reason or a religious imperative, this individual would have committed a crime. Somebody might have gotten hurt or killed.

So we’re being proactive here in Nassau County.

Speaker 1 That’s the right thing to do, Bruce Blakemans. People of Nassau County want want to feel safe and enough of these people coming in from different countries and carrying How big was the the knife?

Speaker 2 It was a Rambo style knife, fourteen inch blade. Well, that’s a huge knife.

Speaker 1 That’s a huge knife. Bruce Blakeman, thank you for what you’re doing. Thank you for putting you your foot down on this Labor Day weekend and saying I’m going to keep the people of Nassau County safe and our citizens of Nassau County are more important than than the Rambo type migrants that are entering our city and our state

and our counties. Thank you so much for what you’re doing. Anything else you want to tell.

Speaker 2 The people, No, I just want to say, John, you do a great job. WABC does an amazing job getting the workout with. So blessed to have a common sense media outlet that reports the news the way it is. So.

Speaker 1 Thank you. I look forward to seeing you soon. And God bless you. God bless America. On Labor Day weekend and let’s can we have common sense prevail?
