Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday Morning. Well with us today is the well Nasau County County Executive the safest county in America, twenty five hundred counties in America Nationaal County is the safest. He has told people. He promises to make New York State the safest state of the fifty states we have. Bruce Blakeman.
Welcome to Sunday Morning, and thank you for coming on.
Well, thank you, John. It’s always a pleasure and honor to be on with you.
Tell us, you know you’ve got eighty five days, eighty four days, whatever it is to the election. Give us progress and tell us what you probably have seen millions of people so far on the campaign. What are they interested in? What have you been telling you?
Well, it doesn’t matter what state I’m in, What part of this state I’m in, John, every part of the state. People are just miserable. They find this state on affordable were the most overtaxed state in America. Our electricals are seventy percent higher than the national average, insurance costs or through the roof. So people want change. They want they
want to create jobs. They want a governor who cares about them. They don’t want a governor to spend eight billion dollars of their money on illegal migrants. That money should be used for New Yorkers, not for people who just land here and within five minutes they get free food, free housing, free transportation, or the free cell phone that
ends on day one when I become governor.
It just seems, and I just read last week in the budget that the fact is we’ve signed up another hotel or more hotels at one point eight billion dollar budget for hotels for migrants.
It’s absolutely insane. Kathy Hopeless spent eight billion dollars over the last four years of our taxpayer dollars on people who aren’t New Yorkers. All they have to do is arrive here and they get free everything. They don’t have to earn the same. It’s just insane. It’s malpractice on the governor’s part. She should be looking out for New Yorkers,
and New Yorkers need things. We need to rebuild our infrastructure, We need more money for schools, for hospitals, and we need to cut taxes and cut electric bills. Otherwise people are going to continue to leave the state in droves like.
They have now understood. What other what are the big problems that you’re hearing when you’re on the road.
Well, again, it’s all about affordability. People find that it’s unaffordable to live in New York. All the good jobs are leaving. Kathy Hochelan and Zoorron Mandami are chasing the good jobs out of our state. Taxes are way too high, most overtaxed state in the United States, and the big one is electric bills. Every month people are paying exorbitant
electric fees because Kathy hochl is a through forty eight rate hikes in just four years. That’s like one a month.
It’s just how many price hikes.
Forty eight forty eight rate hikes in four years.
And you know in those windmills off the coast of Long Island, they’re ruining the environment and they’re going to double a triple price of electricity too.
Well, first of all, how insane is it to build sixty story wind turbines in the middle of the ocean. Can you imagine how expensive that is? John, You’ve done some building in your life, and to have to barge everything into the ocean to build out there, to have all of the disruptions out there with hides and the weather.
It just makes no sense. But you know what’s even dumber is solar farms in upstate New York. Five months out of the year they’re covered under snow. They don’t produce any energy. And somebody’s getting billions of dollars and Kathy Hochel’s getting millions in political contributions and we’re producing very little energy. John, We’re sitting on one of the
largest natural gas reserves in the world here in New York, and Kathy Hochel won’t let us extract the gas yet. And this is really crazy. She’s buying it from Pennsylvania.
Well, the old joke in Pennsylvania was they’re driving Cadillacs, and the people in New York state and over the border, of course from the Pennsylvania area, they’re driving fifty four Chevies. You know, I understand a lot of people are leaving New York, upstate, downstate, one hundred people a day, I understand as the latest statistic.
Yes, So what we have to do to retain people is we’ve got to create economic activity, better jobs with better benefits. We’ve got to cut taxes, cut our electric bills, create jobs, and keep people in our state that are producing jobs. Don’t run them out of town. Don’t run businesses out of town, because when they leave, who does
it hurt the most? The middle class. It hurts the taxpayers because they got to fill that tax burden. And also think about this, John, when people with big money leave, that’s going to hurt our carpenters, our plumbers, or electricians, or waiters or waitresses or bartenders, our dog walkers, the flower shop, the dry cleaner. Everybody gets hurt when they leave.
So why run them out of town when every other state is trying to get them to come to their communities. So I will retain them. I will bring them back, and we will create good jobs, good benefits and put more money in people’s pockets.
Understood, Well, we love New York City, we love New York State, and it’s called the Empire State, and we hope we can do everything. You know, quality of life is very important. Safety is very important for our kids and grandkids. And Bruce Blakeman, you know, keep working hard and the letter and we’ll see which way we go.
And it’s down to eighty five days or eighty days.
Yeah, it’s creeping up fast, and we’ve got the momentum We’re going to win, John, and on election day people are going to celebrate like they’ve never celebrated before. Is we’re going to have a governor that really cares about New Yorkers and looks after them.
Well, thank you, Bruce Blakeman, and thank you for doing a great job in Nassau County and it’s a great county and we hope we can do that for the state. And we’ll talk again real soon.
Thanks so much, John,
