Speaker 1 Sunday morning with us today, So Jose Santa Maria, and he’s a chief investment officer at the Fundamental an advisory firm in New York. But I know him from the days when he was in Spain, uh and with the banking situations in Spain that he dealt with. Well, Jose Santa Maria, give us an update what’s going on in

Spain because you have a lot of knowledge about it. And also what is the relationship with Spain allowing people to go into Germany because Germany and Italy, I remember put put the put the kebajh on on migrants going from from Spain to Germany or Spain to Italy.

Speaker 2 Absolutely, John, and it’s great to hear from you. So let me tell you, as you know, we had a big invasion of migrants illegally in the cities of Celta, Melaia in the in Spain, which are located in north in Africa. Most of those migrants have returned to Mexico to Morocco. However, there are still about ten thousand that

stayed in those cities. Spain made the decision to take guardianship on four thousand of those miners and those will be relocated.

Speaker 1 So of the fifty sixty seventy thousand, whatever it was, the rest of them went back, which seems very unusual, and only four thousand states.

Speaker 2 Ten thousand state, of which the miners which are about four thousand, will be relocated into different immigration centers in Spain in the peninsula.

Speaker 1 Gotcha, Now, I in mind.

Speaker 2 The cost of may of maintaining these children, and that’s where the economics hit in is up to seven thousand US a month, so there is an economic incentive for some to take the miners. Spain made the decision simply because the situation in the cities was unbeable. There’s been children trafficked, girls’ rate, so it’s a very bad situation.

And the worst is there is an aspected a second wave of illegal immigration. Respected against this weekend on the same premises, the same approach understood.

Speaker 1 Now Germany and Italy had closed their borders to them. Tell us give us an update on that.

Speaker 2 Well, Germany and Italy are very obviously very upset because Spain has the tools I mean when I say Spain, I mean the Prime minister. It does have the tools to pull European resources.

Speaker 3 In order to control the border. They were very surprised that they didn’t, so they put some restrictions into passengers going into Germany and Italy, which is really one of the benefits of being in European is the fact that you don’t.

Speaker 2 Have to go through customs and migration. But this is no longer the case for people traveling from Spain anywhere else. It’s not a great thing that your main partners decide that you’re not trustworthy when it comes to respecting the Shanngen space in Europe.

Speaker 1 Understood, what else is going on? I mean Europe. I’m worried about Europe in keeping the euro opinion union together. Have you or have you ever have any concerns?

Speaker 2 Well, I do have concerns that there are some weaknesses which are very obvious in the European Union, particular RELI when it comes to security. Europe has not been committing to the fact infan security, particularly some countries like Spain.

But what I find surprising is that foreign aide for example, from Spain, have jumped to almost a billion dollars last year. We’ll go into countries like Conduras, Mauritania, Palestine, so it’s.

Speaker 3 Very suspicious in my opinion, The.

Speaker 2 Other thing that I’d say, broadly speaking, when I look at twenty first century socialism and I see what’s going on, I realized, look in Argentina, Christina Kirshner was in prisoned in Ecuador, Russhelle Correa was convicted in Bolivia, but Morality was convicted. Maduro was captured in Venezuela, Colombian XPM Petro is under investigation, and we have a very serious corruption

case against the Hosteluiz Rodriguez a Patero in Spain. All of these is telling you something. The last thing that just happened and that affects Mexico, which is the closest. Obviously, one of our allies in the US has to do with the cartels basically getting into legitimate businesses such as time shirts. There was a recent intervention by Ovak which

was announced this morning, in particular against the Hallisco New Generation cartel, where about six thousand Americans have been subject to fraud in the range of three to five hundred million dollars with regards to timeshirts. So do you realize that the network.

Speaker 1 Mexican deals that the people did on time sharing.

Speaker 2 That’s correct, and they get marketed in the US for people to go and have their timeshirt space in Mexico. But it so happens that is related to one or several cartels, and the numbers are big. We’re talking six thousand American citizens.

Speaker 1 So not only those quartels selling drugs, they are now in the new business of conning American people in the time sharing business.

Speaker 3 I’m afraid so. And as you can tell, it’s all interconnected. It goes from Venezuela.

Speaker 2 To Stay back to Mexico, all the way down in Latin America. That’s why the work that our Marco Rubio is doing is so important. And of course our President Donald Trump has been excellent in the particularly in the struction of Maduro, which is weakening all this network of criminal activity.

Speaker 1 Well, Hose Santa Maria, we are at a time but I want to talk further on that. So let’s talk next week a little bit further more about this situation with the time sharing.

Speaker 3 It would be my pleasure. John, have a great day. Thank you,
