Speaker 1 With us.

Speaker 2 Today is Gordon G Chang and his Twitter. You can keep get informed twenty four hours a day at Gordon g Chang and Gordon. So many things are happening in the Far East and so many updates every day. Sunday morning today, can you give the WABC listeners a heads up on what’s going on?

Speaker 1 The most important thing this weekend is the G twenty in India and Chinese leader c Jmping has given it a miss. And this is really unusual because no Chinese leader has ever missed a G twenty summit. Siegmping has been to all of them, and the question is why Now The universal narrative is that the Chinese want to

snub India to sort of rain on their party. That’s a possibility, of course, because we don’t know the reason why C isn’t going hasn’t gone. But the point here is that Sigean Ping is facing some very important challenges at home over the economy and over just about everything else.

And there’s been there have been purges, there have been unusual developments, and the real possibility is that Siege and Pain feels it’s not safe for him to lead China at this point. So maybe we’ll find out later, but there’s a lot I think there are a lot of reasons to suggest that siege and Pang is staying home

for personal and political reasons.

Speaker 2 In addition, everybody’s scared to travel these days. Putin is scared to travel with the G twenty, the president, prime minister or whatever you want to call them of North Korea. Or we’ll only travel to see Putin by train, I guess see. Everybody’s scared of assassinations.

Speaker 1 Well, I think that they are actually now. The Kim regime, their leaders have always been worried about assassination, and for good reason, there have been assassination attempts, especially on Kim Jong UN’s father, Kim Jong Ill, and so they always travel by train. And then the rumors are that Kim Jong und will travel by train to Vlat of Vostok

in Russia, where he’ll meet Putin. Now, the theory is that that meeting is about North Korea selling ammunition to Russia for use in Ukraine. The United States has publicly talked about that and warned the North Koreans not to do it, but it’s not clear that the Bid administration is willing to impose even tougher sanctions on the North

to prevent these arm sails.

Speaker 2 Understood. What else would you like to talk about this Sunday morning. What do you think is critical that the American people know about happenings?

Speaker 1 Well, the one big story out of China in the last three or four days has been Huawei Technology’s noose phone, the May sixty pro. And this may sound a little weedy, but for China it’s an important development. The Trump administration and big administrations have imposed sanctions that have prevented Huawei from getting chips, and China is in full propaganda mode

about this new phone. People have broken apart the phone, they’ve found different things, but clearly China has been able to obtain chips from Western and Asian suppliers in violation of sanctions, and so the US administration is now thinking about what it wants to do with Huawei. We saw Huawei as sort of only a national security threat with

regard to its servers for the five G telecommunications backbone. American leaders were not worried about the phone business. Well, they should have been for a lot of reasons, but one of them is we’re seeing right now that as China really goes into propaganda on the five G phone.

They are also undermining Apple. There are reports that the Chinese government is now prohibiting the use of Apple phones in China for government officials.

Speaker 3 Last week CNBC reported that yes, and there’s also reports that now provinces and lower government units are also banning Apple phone.

Speaker 1 So here you have a full barreled approach to foreign phones and domestic phones. And I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they’re going after Apple and that they are boasting about Huawei at the same time.

Speaker 2 Understood, Well, thank you Gordon g. Chang for everything you do and bringing American people up to date, and God bless you and God bless America. Thank you so much.

Speaker 1 Well, thank you John, and happy birthday to you.

Speaker 2 Well, thank you so much and thank you. It was good to see you at my birthday party and cousin Bruce’s birth party on Thursday.

Speaker 1 That was a thrill of a lifetime for me because as a kid, I would listen to cousin Brucy on my transistor radio. So that was like the best event that I have ever gone to. So thank you, thank you, thank you John, thank you, and we all had me and you with.

Speaker 2 The transistor radio with three transistors in it, and now our iPhone fourteen has fifteen point two billion transistors, so it’s a difference. I’m impressed. Thank you,
