Speaker 1 What is today is Congressman Iron Estates and he’s on the Ways and Means Committee and in Congress, and nothing happens without the Ways and Means Committee, and very important Congressman from Middle America, Kansas City, Oh Kansas for the Congressional district. Well, welcome Congressman to New York. And there’s so many things happening in our city or states, our country,

the world. Where do you want to begin.

Speaker 2 Oh, there’s so many things going on, and I appreciate the opportunity to talk with you again. You know, the biggest news story in the last few few days has been all the unrest on campuses, with all the anti Semitism and the protests that are coming up, and we’re seeing more and more just hatred and the attacks and

the harassment on Jewish students and trying to prevent them not just from going to class, but actually threatening their life and threatening Israel and the whole creation and the maintenance of the Israeli state. And you know, one of the things that we have responsibility for in Congress is to provide oversight and some checks and balances. And what

we’ve seen is the university professors and the administration they’re not doing their job that they’re supposed to be in terms of providing a safe and secure environment for students to go. And you know, that’s one of the things parents in general, they value being able to send their children to get a higher education so that they can

better themselves and have a good productive life and live the American dream. And this responsibility of the university administrators to focus on that, and so we need to look at some issues that are going on there.

Speaker 1 There is money flowing in to the universities from foreign sources that have undo influence on our universities. Now, the other thing that we discussed about earlier today is you did an analysis of one of the universities.

Speaker 2 Tell us about it right well. Over the weekend, the rest at Washington University in Saint Louis. Over the weekend, there were one hundred people arrested and only twenty seven of them were affiliated students were affiliated with university. So the other seventy three people were brought in by some outside group or groups to be protest. And you know,

that just highlights how critical and how dangerous this environment can be, and the university administrators need to step up and provide that security and address this issue and make sure that they do have a safe and secure environment.

In fact, one of the areas of responsibility they have under Title six, which is the federal taxpayer dollars that they get, is that they’re supposed to provide a safe, secure environment and they’re not doing their job.

Speaker 1 Well, you know, I asked the chief of NYPD the only Sunday show today, and and I don’t know if the NYPD keeps track of the arrest at New York University or Columbia, but I am sure the statistic you just talked about it might be prevalent there too. So I mean, I said, if these people are migrants or

or they they are people would green cards that that are never going to become citizens. I remember when I became a citizen, I had to pledge a legiance to the to the flag of the United States of America.

Then should we deport them? Yeah?

Speaker 2 Really that that is one of the responsibilities, particularly if you’re here on a student visa or if you’re here on a temporary stay within the United States, that you should at least follow the laws of the United States.

You follow the rule of law and make sure that if you’re if you’re being funded through an organization that’s tax exempt, that you’re not breaking the law as part of that funding. And if oh, then we really need to look at their tax exempt status and being able to root that and deporting folks that are actually causing

trouble and are condemning America and are cleaning that they support Hamas and the atrocious things that Hamas did.

Speaker 1 Congressman Estes, Kansas City is Middle America. What are the big issues in Kansas? Middle America? Do you have microant problems too, breaking the border? Do you have fetanol problems? Well? What say you, Yeah, we really do.

Speaker 2 We someone share some of those same issues. The center of my district’s Wichita and south central Kansas. And what we focus on there, Well, I hear from folks day in and day out. They’re concerned about the cost of living, concerned about inflation that continues to go up nineteen and a half percent since President Biden came into office. And

for the average Kansas family, it’s cost one thousand dollars a month more now to buy the same groceries, the same gas, the same rent, the same clothes for the kids. So it’s really a burden on their lifestyle. They’re also concerned about the border and concerned about just the security and safety. It’s not just the college campuses. We’re concerned

about is crime throughout the country and all the additional issues that and threats that have been out there being made across the country in Middle America as well.

Speaker 1 And it’s so scary that the price of oil is up, the price of gasoline is up, the price of food is up, the interest rates are up. You can’t get a thirty year mortgage for less than seven seven and a half percent right now. I mean all that President Biden, whose chief he is, the commander in chief. Ask the

Air Force, ask the Navy, clear up the Red Sea from these hoodies, and then everything will go back. Why isn’t he doing it?

Speaker 2 Yeah, it’s really he’s bought into this. He’s going to attack energy and attack what’s the best form of energy that we have today is actually provided with oil and gaps, and it is so beneficial for us to be able to live our lives. And I just I think he’s bought into this green provisions that we want to kill

fossil fuel at all costs, and so he’s ignored.

Speaker 1 He’s going to break the United States of America.

Speaker 2 It really is, and it’s hurting and we’re seeing it now. The economy is starting to slow. We’re seeing that in the numbers as well as the high inflation.

Speaker 1 We’ve got less than a minute left. What do you want to get off your chest this bunday?

Speaker 2 You know, I think it’s as we all grew America and America became such a strong country because we all work together for a shape, shared sense of values and the American dream that gets talked about. And we need to get back to that point where we’re working together to focus on how do we make America stronger, how

do we provide for our families, and how do we provide for a good, strong country.

Speaker 1 Congress, thank you for coming on today and the number one thing that me and you are responsible for to make sure our kids and grandkids make it to twenty seventy six, the three hundredth year of our country. And if we don’t straighten it out this year, I have my doubts. YEP, I agree with you. Thank you, Congressman.

That’s thanks
