Speaker 1 Well, so many things happened last night and with us today is Chief of Patrol John Schell, and chief give us a description what was going on. I watched it on television and it looked like a lot of havoc.

Speaker 2 It was a very long night yesterday dealing with Columbia University and City College. Both schools gave us a letter getting what they wanted. They wanted the encampments removed and in Columbia’s case, they wanted the Hamilton house back. We put together a very strategic layer plan with hundreds of cops, and we performed very well last night. We arrested about

eight hundred excuse me, two hundred eighty two people. We cleared both campuses and secured both campuses. There were no incidents whatsoever. We got the Hamilton building back. It was very chaotic, a lot of moving parts. But our department, our young cops, everyone performed quite well last night.

Speaker 1 Well, I commend the NYPD for doing such a great job. And like we talk about crime, you can’t allow a couple of hundred students to screw up the entire you know, the entire university system. People.

Speaker 2 Yeah, look it was students, but now we know A good portion of the protests is or a portion of or outside agitators looking to influence, radicalize some of these students teach them how to perform better tactics in regards to shutting down cameras, blocking doors tactics. That’s what’s going on here. And it’s just and it’s a shame.

Speaker 1 It’s a it’s a damn, damn shame. And it Uh, my friend congressmen at was on the other day in the Saint Louis University, the Washington University in Saint Louis. Of the one hundred people that were arrested, only twenty seven, twenty seven of them were students and the rest of them outside agitators. And and somebody’s paying them. And I

think that’s the job of the FBI to find out who’s paying these people.

Speaker 2 Yes, and in part this goes back to the BLM protests back in twenty twenty. A lot of people arrested in New York City who were creating havoc weren’t from New York City. And we know we don’t have the number yet. Well, we’re going to know the number of people arrested last night from each school who was a

student and who was not a student, And if you were not a student, you are an agitator and to what degree that becomes. Our intelligence division will let us know about that. But I couldn’t agree more.

Speaker 1 What is the status of these people they were arrested, when they actually put in jail or were they just given tickets?

Speaker 2 So about two hundred and forty five of them were we’re given summonses. About twenty seven of them was a live arrestaurant called they went through the system. That’s for the burglary of the Hamilton house. Yes, and another eleven were given desk appearance tickets for criminal mischiefs. So it kind of ran the gamut. But again a flawless performance.

Nobody got hurt. There were two minor minor injuries for the protesters. We showed the nation in the city what a strong force we are and we are not the extent that we can and going to put up with any of this nonsense. We continue to make a strong stand and we won’t stop doing that.

Speaker 1 And I believe I’ve heard from some of the students, the regular students, that they commend the police for straightening out their school.

Speaker 2 So it’s funny you say that there was about two thousand kids that were in five dorms that we had to secure so they wouldn’t come outside and maybe get hurt. And a decent majority, to your point, was saying exactly what you’re saying, get them out of here, which was I felt bad for those students because they were overwhelmed,

but there was a voice in those students.

Speaker 1 Well, Chief shall we’ll talk to you in the next few days and see if there’s any updates and and thank you. And I think the what the city council and everybody has to understand that the paid agitators should be arrested and put away because they’re making eight and a half million people miserable and it’s wrong, that’s my.

Speaker 2 Opinion, right, And there’s a bigger story to this. There’s someone behind the scenes who are pulling the strings at these protests, funding the money, and like you said, it should we looked into I agree.

Speaker 1 One, thank your Chief Shell, thank you for the great job you do, and please thank them the men of the m y p D. And we’ll catch up with you again real soon.

Speaker 2 Thank I Shertinly will thank you
