You met folks in the Midwest and especially in Iowa, are very concerned about the direction of our country.
And I serve on the Armed Services Committee.
I’m a veteran served overseas in the Iowa Army National Guard during the Iraq War.
And so I’m on the Armed Services Committee.
And who do we have in front of us this past week but Secretary grand Home of the Department of Energy, and she was there testifying about moving our entire non tactical vehicle fleet in the Department of Defense to electric. Yes, folks, you heard it. This of Biden administration wants to make our vehicles all electric in the military by twenty thirty.
How do you fight a war.
You don’t fight a war that way.
This administration has taken it to the extremes with this climate agenda. We are not focusing on the lethality of our American military. Instead, they’re focusing on green energy and climate change. This is not how we project power around the world.
Unbelievable, and there’s so many problems in the world. What are the things concern you.
Well, one, it’s the fact that we’re not investing in our military the way we should or be focusing on lethality other things. Of course, we have the debt sealing argument that’s coming up, and it’s not even really an argument anymore because Speaker McCarthy has presented a plan, and yet we have Joe Biden who is absolutely unwilling to
sit down and negotiate with the House Republicans on any level of a deal, which is wrong. We know that Americas depending on negotiations to happen, and yet the president is unwilling or unable to participate in those negotiations. So Iowa’s are really concerned about that. I’m hearing about it all the time. And of course we continue to see inflation.
You know, folks are trying to fill up their gas tanks, they’re going to the grocery stores, and they’re wondering what the heck is going on.
Now, Iowa, we got the primaries are going to be coming up someday. When are the primaries?
Well, they are coming up.
And in Iowa, folks may know that we do caucuses when it comes to presidential candidates, and that will be coming up the early part of twenty twenty four.
Iowa is the.
First in the nation caucus state when it comes to Republicans. So we do have a lot of those folks coming through Iowa vying for votes, a lot of excitement around that, and we just want to hear about the future of our nation. What do these folks see in mind for our country. We have such a great country and yet
we’ve seen a lot of decline during the Biden administration.
Well, what I’ve said is the poor people during the current administration got poorer and the middle class got poorer. And because of the price of gasoline and price of food caused by the price of gasoline, a trillion dollars maybe has moved over from North America to Russia and Saudi Arabia and Opic nations.
Yes, we have vast amounts of natural resources across the United States, and we are not capitalizing on our energy potential because of the climate agenda that’s being pushed by the very far left. We can all agree we want clean water, clean air, you know, but this is such a radical move by this administration.
Now the borders are having big problems with fetanoyl and so many people are dying. Yes, has fetanoyl invaded the problem invaded in Iowa.
Yes, absolutely, it has on And we are now saying that every state is a border state because of the border crisis. And I visited the Port of San Diego not all that long ago. We had a group that went down saw some of the issues there having with fentanyl coming across the border. But I took it a
step further, John I went into Mexico and went to Mexico City to meet with Mexican officials and really raise the issue of fentanyl with them. If we’re not talking to them, how can we expect to do better the Biden administration.
They’re not going to do a darn thing on the border.
So what we have to do is go in talk to the Mexicans and hope, for Heaven’s sakes that we can get a little participation out of them.
More people have died in the last twelve months from fentanyl in the United States than all three wars combined.
Absolutely, and it’s not just just striking one class or another. It’s hitting every family out there. It’s poisoning our communities. The Chinese are behind this, sending precursors into Mexico, allowing the drug cartels to manufacture this garbage, and then sending it into the United States of America.
Well, Senator, thank you so much for stopping by and calling into Sunday morning. And God bless you and God bless America.
Thank you for being such a great patriot. John, much appreciated. Thank you
