And I hear that there’s updates of what’s going on in Suffolk County. Well, I feel safe when I’m in Suffolk County. Raymond Tierney, tell us give us an update on what’s going on.
Well, Hi, John and thanks so much for having us. Well. This month, we had a Bloodhound Brim takedown, which is a subset of the blood Streak gang. We had a one hundred and three count indictment charging thirty one members and associates of the Bloodhound Brims with a number of crimes including conspiracy to commit murder as well as the
murder of Kimberley Midget as well as eighteen total shootings in Suffolk County from August of twenty twenty one through February of twenty twenty four. And we charge these individuals with conspiracies. So not only did the shooters get held responsible, but also people will help the shooters and who planned the shootings, including the national leader of the Bloodhound Brims,
an individual by the name of Letique Johnson who is in jail in California and who was masterminding a lot of these shootings.
Wow. You know, I remember just a few years ago all the gangs were gone. Are the gang’s back, Well.
You know, it’s it’s very difficult because they they re you know, they sort of regenerate. But the gangs are are unfortunately loud and proud in both Nasau and Suffolk, and they work together. So the good thing about this takedown is we worked with our federal partners. We worked with our great partners in Nassau County uh DA and Donnelly,
as well as the Nasau County Police Department, and we were able to charge the homicide of the forty four year old school teacher, Kimberly Midget, who was a victim of false mistaken identity unfortunately, and gang members killed her.
So the National County Die’s Office charged them with that murder. We charged them with conspiracy here in Suffolk County, and we’re working together to dismantle these gangs.
Wow, that’s that is a whole I mean, I must say it in how is the drug problems in Suffolk County Because I’ve talked to so many people last week. There are a lot of drug problems all over the place and give us your report on it.
Yeah, Unfortunately, in Suffer County, just like New York States, just like the United States, we have these cheap designer drugs such as fentanyl, pouring in over our border and they’re inundating our communities. They’re incredibly dangerous and we’re feeling the effects of it. Twenty twenty two, we had three hundred and ninety nine overdoses from a fentanyl a loan,
which is insane. And uh, you know, we have to keep we have to keep at it and uh, but we also need some help from our federal partners.
Understood. What else would you’d like to tell this You know, it’s Sunday morning, we’re all drinking our coffee. What else is going on in Suffolk County that you want to tell people about.
Well, we also have we have the the trial of the Schechter School, which was a school where an individual he stole millions of dollars from the private school from the from the children and used it allegedly for his own use. Uh. So we’re trying that individual, and you know, we’re trying to set the tone in Suffolk County that
if you commit crimes, if you steal from your neighbor. If you hurt your neighbor, harm your neighbor, we are going to prosecute you to the fullest extentable law, notwithstanding what might be happening in the rest of the country.
Understood any updates on that gil Go Beach situation.
So yeah, So we recently we recently charged the fourth murder, so all of the four victims originally known as the Gilgo Ford they’ve been the defendant has been charged with allegedly having committed to all four of those murders. Last time in court, we filed some DNA evidence, which is cutting edge DNA evidence, and which shows that the that
hairs left at the scene on three of the victims belonged to or were consistent with the genetic profiles of the defendant, the defendant’s daughter, and the defendant’s wife. So we look forward to litigating that in court. But in so doing, we’re going to be one of the first jurisdictions in the United States to use this particular DNA technology.
So it’s pretty exciting.
Understood well, Suffolk County DA, Raymond Hanney, thank you for everything you do to keep Suffolk County safe and God bless you. And God bless America. Thank you so much, Thank you John, thank you
