Speaker 1 Sunday morning. What is today is Governor David Pattison like every Sunday morning, and he gives us revelations of things on his mind and things that are going on that the American people should know. Well, Governor, where are we?

I mean, what a mess we have with New York City.

Speaker 2 Well, John, this is a Sunday morning like no other Sunday mornings we’ve ever done, because it’s a Sunday morning in the new week after the first time a New York City mayor has been indicted while in office. There were a couple who were had issues after they left office.

But just Thursday, I guess Wednesday night, Thursday morning, they made the announcement. Then the mayor got up and spoke for himself, and then the US Attorney for the Southern District, Damian Williams, presented the case. And I have to say, and I mean, I’m a big friend of Eric Adams and I wish him well, and he’s always been a

very decent person, a very generous person. But they have a five indictments against him, and they were very thorough in explaining how the indictments were reached. And this is either going to be that they’re right or they’re wrong.

There isn’t going to be any middle ground in this situation. But let’s just assume for a minute that Mayor Adams has to leave office. And if that’s the case, then what it would mean is that somebody got in a lot of trouble where the money that came to them was really not a lot of money. All these trips

where he got free accommodations and hotel rooms in the finest hotels, it only had it up to about one hundred thousand dollars. And that is an egregious price to pay for you know, just not paying on your own or you know, having your campaign pay for it. You can do it a number of ways. That’s what surprised me. So, John,

I just want you to remember, when you hear that I get indicted, you’re going to know that I stole thirty million dollars because I’m going to need ten million dollars for a lawyer.

Speaker 1 I would say at least one hundred million. Yes, Now, when they tried to complain against Cuba Governor Patterson about Yankee tickets, didn’t you tell them that you what would you do with the Yankee tickets? You can’t even see the game.

Speaker 2 I couldn’t see the game. I went to opening dat the Yankees against the Philadelphia Phillies, and I always wanted to go back and and reduce the fine because I’m a Mets fan. But that didn’t work out. But you know, from that investigation, I learned something that I hope Mayor Adams will pay attention to. One is you try not

to litigate the issue in a press conference. I mean, he’s talking about these things that you know it’s inside baseball to just him and the people who know it. What I think you just have to do is be very humble and say that you know you didn’t do anything wrong. You’re not going to resign because you want

to establish your innocence. You don’t want to bear the pain of going through a whole trial and being found not guilty. But now you’re not Mayor anymore, and you hope that the public will accept that in you know, not getting into the details or anything like that. The other thing, my suggestion would be anybody who’s on your

staff who was part of this problem has got to be dismissed, no matter how well you know him, no matter how much you care about them. You’ve got to do it. I always felt that when I did it, it diminished the interest in, you know, persecuting me any further because I really hadn’t done anything wrong. I will

point out, just for full disclosure, that Damian Williams, who is the US Attorney in the Southern District, was one of the three lawyers that defended me in the process, and they really explain to me how to act, you know, how to maintain control. Don’t be lashing out at anyone, because when you lash out, you look guilty. So I

hope the mayor will just understand that if he knows he didn’t do anything wrong, he’s got to also have the decorum of someone that didn’t do anything wrong understood.

Speaker 1 Now the whole thing on the upgrade of the truck or shairline tickets. Are they saying he didn’t pay for the tickets at all, or they that he got a free upgrade from business class to first class or whatever?

Speaker 2 You know, I didn’t understand that because a lot of times people will take a flight and they’ve got seating in the first class and they’re actually upgraded there. It’s something the airline does that you know, promotes a good feeling between the airline and the passenger. And I’m not sure exactly how the campaign finance rules deal with that situation,

but I think there were so many of them that they have accumulated that it’s going to be a lot for Mayor Adams and his attorneys to overcome. But they are innocent until proven guilty. And I would like to send a message to some of the Mayor Adam’s colleagues who love to get attention by calling for him to

resign even though they don’t They know less about the case than anybody. And one of them who.

Speaker 1 Is the brutuses are out he kills Caesars John.

Speaker 2 One of the people is calling for the Mayor’s resignation and call for my resignation when I wasn’t even in died. He was in all kinds of financial trouble for years while he was in public office. And you know that is just outrageous to act that way. And I’ll tell you Karma will come back and deal with him. But

the important issue for this city is it was just so sad to see Gracie Mansion raided by the FBI. Did you ever think you’d see that?

Speaker 1 Or uh, well, I mean when they raided the police Commissioner’s office on the top floor of the NYPD. That was something too.

Speaker 2 Did that happen too, That happened as well, And I mean, it’s just it was this week. This was the week that was. It was just things you just never thought you’d see. And I think conduct around it that could have been more becoming. When Mayor Adams tried to speak, there were people out there heckling him and yelling at him.

They don’t know anything about this case, they just don’t like it. And also, you know, on on the other end, there were some religious leaders who were trying to ask that he’d be given a you know, a fair opportunity. Well, he’s going to get a trial and we’ll find that out.

But I I wish him well and I feel bad for him even though these situations are very serious.

Speaker 1 Governor David Patterson, thank you so much. And I enjoyed talking every Sunday morning common sense and I have it on good that if anything ever happens, you would make a great may But I still but I would still.

Speaker 2 Call you jem okay. I love it.

Speaker 1 Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 I have a better week
