Speaker 1 Well, there’s a Senate electionis November in New York State. And running against Kirston Guildebrand, who’s been the US Senator in New York State for a while now since Governor David Patterson has appointed her, is Mike Sapracone. He’s running for the US Senate. He’s got running guys who are publishing and this November and mike’safracone. Good morning, Sunday Morning.

Tell us why people should vote for you versus voting for your Democratic opponent, Kiston Guildebrand.

Speaker 2 Oh, good morning, John. Thanks for having me. Well, first of all, because I think I’m a common sense candidate. You know, I’m a retired New York City detective. I did that for twenty years here in the city. And I also started a small business over thirty years ago, which I just sold became a global company where I

employed over eight hundred retired in active law enforcement offices around North America and also retire military in the United Kingdom. So I’ve moved on from that and I think it’s time to give back again as I did when I was a police officer and a police detective in the city, and I talk about common sense all the time, John,

and I think how important it is that we start dealing with common sense again, and we lack it in our government and in our representatives. You know, as I travel the state, the great State of New York, the sixty two counties we have here. As I talk to people, they say, well, who are you running against? And I

say Kiston, Kirston, Gill Grant, and I say who is that? Nobody seems to know her. It seems like she’s been missing in action. And you know, as a detective, I talk in police terms, and if you were to put her in a lineup, most people can’t even pick her out of a lineup. So I think it’s it’s important

that we start meeting our constituents and being out there as I travel the state and learning a little bit about what everybody’s issues are and what their needs are. You know, as I travel to Boroughs John in Long Island, and I’m originally from Queens and I’ve lived in Nassau for the last thirty years, so we can talk about congestion,

pricing and the issues and the problems with that. But as I go up to Clinton County or Tioga County, different issues, you know, crime is always an issue everywhere we go, and illegal immigration is an issue of course that we’re dealing with, and we always talk about it on the southern border, and you know, crime and illegal immigration,

they kind of domino into one issue. But as I was up in Clinton County speaking to a young lady up there, she told me her parents had moved from Brooklyn so that they could see the stars at night years ago, and now all they see at night are helicopter lights because of the illegal migrants coming across the

northern border. And we never speak of the northern border, we never speak how large off border is with Canada up north and Erie County and Jefferson County is Clinton County. The illegal immigrants have increased by two hundred and fifty percent this year alone on the northern border. So those.

Speaker 1 That’s a big item. New York City, New York State. The migrant problem unvetted has become a major problem in New York. New Yorkers are up the wall about it because of the open borders down in in uh you know, in our south southern border, we’re getting vetan oil in there, We’re getting migrants in there that have been unvetted. I mean,

is that what you Yeah, I feel it’s important. Do you feel it’s important.

Speaker 2 Too, Oh, it’s very important. I mean just last year alone, I think we’ve stopped one hundred and fifty illegal migrants that were on the terrorist watches. Now, that’s now what keeps me up at night. One hundred and fifty out of the thousands and thousands, hundreds of thousands of people we’ve got in this country that were not vetted, that

were not seen on the on the errors watches, because we didn’t even know they were coming in. So imagine how many people have gotten in this country. And you talk about thankan old John. And it’s not just coming from Mexico, it’s coming from China. It’s coming from everywhere. Venezuela, Mike might immigrate. Illegal immigrants are coming in this country

from anywhere at all. They’ve opened the door. They opened the door, and we’re just allowing everybody to pour in without vetting them, without the proper Now everybody talks about asylum. We’re here for asylum. You know, everybody doesn’t get asylum.

It used to be those of religious prosecution, persecution or because of other kinds of persecution. We don’t even check those things now. Uh.

Speaker 1 The other big item was, Uh, they’re you know, like Venezuela is emptying out their mental asylums and sending them to New York. Uh, they’re emptying out their hospitals, sending them to New York. They’re emptying out their jail cells, their prisons, sending them to New York. I mean it’s unvetted in a couple of days ago. Uh, because this

is Sunday morning. Uh.

Speaker 1 President Biden signed an executive order that he’s limit it to four thousand people a day. But that’s almost two million people a year. That’s still not right.

Speaker 2 Shut it down, John, nobody a day until we start. There’s no we can’t even go on to a Plan B because there’s no Plan A. Shut the border down. Don’t allow anybody inuntil we set up better border, more border patrol offices, more judges to listen to these cases.

Shut it down, going anybody in. You know, it goes back to the old policing days of broken windows, when we looked at uh you know, we looked at quality of life crimes. Let’s start from the beginning. Let’s knock out the garbage, and let’s move forward with a new plan and under President Trump, where did he get that

new plan? John? And you know, we’ll tell where we were three and a half years ago. Uh, before this whole thing started. Those the borders were closed. Biden came and he signed an executive order that opened up the borders and just opened up the ploy gates. We need to get back to reality. We can’t afford our own

homeless people, our own military vets who have no place to live. We’re paying for these illegal immigrants to come into this country. Are paying for their food, for their medical for their housing. It’s not there. It’s not fair to the people who came in here the right way and worked hard, like all of our ancestors.

Speaker 1 Well, Mike, keep fighting hard. I think having another vote in the United States Senate that has more common sense could be very good for New Yorkers. And we want law and order. I mean right now there’s not enough law in order. People still uncomfortable walking around in New York.

I mean, how do you feel about that.

Speaker 2 Well, as a cop for twenty years, I mean we have to if your employees, oh, think about your employees. If they don’t feel safe to come to work, what kind of business will you have? Okay, we need to make sure our employees are residents. Everybody feels safe to go on the subways, to walk the streets to go

to work. You know, you talk about retail, John and CBS’s in different stores. I heard a story the other day where someone was in CVS. Somebody just walked in. They opened up the sliding glass door where sodas and milkwork.

They just took a pile of stuff, smiled and walked right out, and security did nothing for it. John, of all people to know, we’ll get the supermarkets. John, right, it’s different if you’re coming in there. And I understand this.

Speaker 1 We’re losing a ton of money. The old rule was one and a half percent for shrinkage a year. I think that number is closer to six percent now.

Speaker 2 I’m sure it is. I’m sure it is, and it’s not acceptable. It’s not acceptable. You’ll have to raise the prices because you have to cover the losses, and that’s being passed on to the consumers, and that’s not right.

We need to start cracking down, getting back to basics.

Speaker 1 Agreed, one hundred percent. Thank you so much. Mike sapracoone running for the US Senate against Kirsten Gildebrand and we’ll catch up with you again real soon.

Speaker 2 Thanks John, thanks so much for having me
