Dispelling Heating Oil Shortage Rumors During Cold Snap
Transcript
Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning with this rock Olasitosa, and he is the CEO of the New York State Energy Coalition and he’s representing the heating oil industry. Well, Rocco, this is going to be one of the coldest weekends in a long time.
Give us an update. Is there enough heating oil to heat homes?
Yes, there is. You know, there’s been a rumor floating around that, you know, there’s a shortage. I wanted to spell that room, but there’s plenty of supply around the problem is that the demand has increased so much because of this cold period, you know, and and you know the snowstorm on January twenty third that slowed everything down.
We’ve had issues where the Gowanas Canal was frozen up and you know, there was a BArch stuck in place and it couldn’t make its way to the terminal in Brooklyn where it had to go. We got that cleared, but the problem. The other problem was the Hamilton Avenue bridge was frozen in place and that delayed that BArch
for another couple of days. That’s been since doubt and the fuel is flowing and you know they’re out there making their deliveries. Heating oild trucks all over the city of New York and you know, Long Island are are making deliveries to customers at a fast and furious pace right now, trying to keep up with everything. But you know,
this cold weather has just increased demands so much and we have not seen this in such a long time. So but you know, I have to give a big shout out to the members of the New York State Engine Coalition, the guys and gals who have been out there, you know, working day and night to keep their customers
tanks full. So you know they’re doing a great job and we really appreciate what they’re doing.
So Rocco, thank you for the update. And I’m glad that it is enough heating a while to go around. And I’m glad that our people in New York City are going to be warm. Any more snow coming, I don’t know.
I’m not a meteorologist, so I can’t answer that question. You’ll have to see, you know, Channel four or channel to some aready out there maybe to answer that.
Hop hopefully stay warm, stay warm this weekend.
Thank you for your updated for Thanks John
