Speaker 1 Sunday Morning with us today is Angelo Vivilo, and he is part of Columbus Heritage Foundation, which represents a large portion of Italian people in our community. And he’s mad as heck. And why Well, the new leading mayoral candidate, Zahrandani has said things that are not just right with the Italian people. Well what say you, Angela Vivilo?

Speaker 2 Well, thank you John for this opportunity to speak. You know, we found out long ago about this mayor candidate and his position being anti Israel, anti Italian American. And you know, when you offend one one culture, one heritage, one religion, you offend all. And we’re totally against him being elected.

He’s not a person of unity. He’s a person who will divide the community and not be proactive for New Yorker’s going forward. So I hope that my hope is that the general public becomes more aware of his inadequacies, of his diversity, of his feeling about the different members of our community, and does not support him going forward.

His ideas are not doable, He makes promises that cannot be kept. But most of all, most importantly, he is against Talian Americans. He wants to take down the Columbus Day statue in the Storia where he represents. He wants to do away with Columbus Day. He’s anti Columbus and that’s a symbol for the Tan Amerian community and we will

not stand for it.

Speaker 1 And that means he doesn’t well, we know he doesn’t respect the Jewish community, and he doesn’t respect Youralian community. I don’t know. You know, I’m Greek Italian, so I don’t know how he feels about Greeks. I mean, but that’s not what they’re supposed to be doing. Uh. And I mean me and you grew up in New York

when everybody respected each.

Speaker 2 Other absolutely absolutely John and and unfortunately the Mandami doesn’t have that sense of unity. He claims he does, but he really doesn’t. And when he speaks against Israel, and when he speaks against the Jews and and and against the Italian Americans and what we stand for, it is not a person who should be the mayor of New

York City.

Speaker 1 I Uh, well, let’s see what happens, because I do think that a lot of things are coming out about statements he was making before he was running for mayor, and uh, he’s offended a lot of people in his life.

Speaker 2 I totally agree, John, And as I said, I hope that the general public becomes more aware of his inabilities, more aware of his prejudice, and think more clearly in the general election about who they want for the next mayor of New York City.

Speaker 1 I agree one hundred percent. Look comments, I’ve told everybody we hold hope common sense prevails. And myself and Governor David Patterson and Judge Richard Weinberg, you know, David being Black and Richard Weinberg being Jewish and me being Greek and Italian. You know, we just want we want New York to be the greatest city in the world that

it’s always been.

Speaker 2 John, absolutely, And you know when you talk about common sense, it’s all about common sense. Just let just think clearly about what this man stands for and think about common sense, and I believe that you’ll think that he should not be the next mayor of New York City.

Speaker 1 Angelo Vivilo, Columbus Heritage Coalition, thank you so much for coming on, and God bless you, and God bless the Italian people.

Speaker 2 Thank you so much. Sehn, God bless you.
