Speaker 1 Sunday Morning with us today is a famous, famous, famous New Yorker, Bernadette Castro. We go back a long way to when she was pulling out the Castro convertibles when she was five years old or six years old, and she was worked for Governor Pataki for twelve years running the entire park system of New York State. And now

now she’s busy in Long Island running the Ryder Cup, was involved with the writ a Cup. Well, Bernadette Castro, we haven’t talked in a while, Happy birthday for last week. Tell us what the heck are you doing? And tell us what’s going on in New York.

Speaker 2 Well, let’s talk about New York City, because you are the Quinston City you know, the most established New York City guy that I know. I mean you started there. Anybody that hasn’t read your Wikipedia page, I mean they got to do it. I mean of all the men, I’ve known a lot of made men in my life,

George Steinbrenner and Greenberg, even my dad, but you are an incredible guy who started very young and have you’ve achieved so much with your various business enterprises, supermarkets, oil, real estate. I mean, John, if anybody probably should run the City of New York. It’s probably you well, remind me of my what.

Speaker 1 I was gonna say, I ran familiar in twenty thirteen. I didn’t make it and what at Kotshay. Let the people be punished, punished, and guess what, we’re all be punished.

Speaker 2 Oh boy, I know. We can’t let what happened in the Democrat primary was actually a disgrace. And it happened I think because voter turnout was so small and the far left, the mom donnie you know group, I don’t know what to call them, came out. So that can happen.

I mean this New York City cannot become a socialist city. You know, I read that he even wants to do free grocery stores. I mean, I don’t quite get it. But New York City is the hub of entrepreneurship, whether it’s Wall Street, whether it’s real estate, whether it’s education.

We have confined universities in Manhattan. I mean, we can’t let New York City change for the worst. And I mean, so everybody that cares about New York City, whether you’re Florida, New York resident Texas, I don’t care. I’m a New York resident. I don’t live in Manhattan, but Manhattan made my dad, okay, castro convertibles, So I have a soft

spot for New York City, just as President Trump does, just as you do. So we can’t let it happen. And I just go back to you because I’m looking at the people who are running and I mean, I’m not trying to talk you into it. You’re a lot smarter than I am, John, and you’ll make the right

decision for yourself and your family. But you know, Curtis is a really good guy. I wish that, and I know he won’t give it up. But if you could, if you won, I’m sure you could find some sort of post for him in your administration because he’s got a passion for safety, and God knows we need that.

But you know, Mayor Adams, I mean, we all had hope because he was a former police officer, and he did let us down. I mean, I’m gonna be honest with you right now.

Speaker 1 Right now, he is cooperating with Tom Homan and he’s cooperating with President Trump’s to keep getting New York safe. So I’m praying for that.

Speaker 2 So are you backing Eric Adams? Is that what I’m hearing.

Speaker 1 I am, I am seeing where we had a press conference the other day and we said that we’re let’s wait till September and see how things uh pan themselves out. And the fact is that this guy, uh the z Man might self destruct because the more people get to know him, the more they don’t like him.

Speaker 2 Well, then we’ve got to get the word out because it would not be good for New York. And you know, he’s anti Semitic. How many more things can we say about him?

Speaker 1 Antient? He’s a entire Italian too. I got Angelo vivelo Is coming in to talk about how he’s giving the uh the Italian’s the finger yikes.

Speaker 2 Well, yeah, you know, he’s just it’s it’s just the worst thing ever. And it’s almost like you can’t even write a bad novel and have it work out like this.

Speaker 1 It’s a it’s a right now, it’s a bad dream. Trump saved America. Uh, he saved the free world. Now it’s time to save New York. But let’s get back to you. And what is this writer hop out in Longhand?

Speaker 2 Yeah, so your listeners that play golf will know what the Ryder Cup is. So let me explain it briefly. It’s not like a normal golf tournament. It’s Europe against the United States. It’s two teams, the europe team and the American team. And the Ryder Cup has only played every two years. Last two years ago it was in Rome.

Europe won this September, the last weekend in September, the Ryder Cup will be played on the Black Course at best Page State Park on Long Island. You know, the American team for those that you know, look at the odds and the bettings seem to be the favorite. But it’s unbelievably fun to watch. If you’ve never picked up

a golf club. It’s globally, I think, the most significant sporting event globally that you can watch. Wow, the Europeans.

Speaker 1 Wait, wait, so last week of September, and where can people get more information about it?

Speaker 2 Okay, so they should just go online. Ryder Cup twenty twenty five. So I.

Speaker 1 Right, ry Ryder.

Speaker 2 Correct twenty twenty five and it won’t be back in the United States for two years and then I think it’s going to be in Minnesota. So you know, I don’t know if what kind of tickets are available, but sure, why if you’re a golfer.

Speaker 1 Yeah, well, Bernadette, I look forward. I look forward to seeing you. I will pull you the week before and maybe where. Maybe I’ll go with you and we’ll see how it goes.

Speaker 2 Well. That would be fun. They’d love to see you at the Ryder Cup. That’s a date and you can certainly bring your beautiful wife, Margot. We’ll have fun.

Speaker 1 Sounds good, Bernadette Castro. We love you. New York loves you. And thank you for coming on today and happy birthday for last week.

Speaker 2 Thanks so much, John. You take care
