Speaker 1 Calling in from Davos. We have a good friend, Charlie Gasperino, Go woke, go broke, and they actually paid him to go to Davos. And Charlie Gasperino, I mean, I’m not gonna ask you how much, but I’m sure you didn’t fly all the way to Davos for for Nichols and Dimes.

Speaker 2 Well, I’m not greedy, I’m I’m happy to be here. And i had a great time moderating a panel with I’m being being a being a panelist that was moderated by someone that from the economists, with Nile Ferguson and Russell and Walter Russell, Mead and others. I moderated a panel on the military situation in the Ukraine and what

that means for the economy. Charlie.

Speaker 2 So you turn a lot here, Charlie.

Speaker 1 If I interrupt you, I’m gonna interrupt you for a second. You know, we’ve got a lot of simple people. This is not the business channel. Tell tell the people who these people are.

Speaker 2 Well. Miles Ferguson is a well known historian. Uh you know you can. He writes for the journal. He writes. I mean, he’s a public intellectual, conservative he’s been on the forefront of fighting DEI on top college campuses. You should read some of this stuff. Pretty amazing. Walter Russell Meade is a calumnist for the Wall Street Journal who

writes a global the Global column, Global affairs column, and you know, he’s one of the smartest people when it comes to the confluence of the economy and global affairs. And it was it was an honor to be with him.

But the person had stole the show here, you know, quite frankly, was your pal Donald Trump. I mean it’s you know, Thursday, late Thursday night here. I mean it’s it’s in the afternoon in New York.

Speaker 1 I heard, I heard you had the standing room only with I mean Donald Trump.

Speaker 2 He transfixed the crowd. I mean, listen, this is a globalist column conference, no doubt. You know, World Economic Form gets a lot of heat for Dabo Man. You would think it’s anything but magotism. But they see a strong leader in Donald Trump. They see power where there wasn’t power before. They see global threats like like Russia, which

you know is obviously making a move on the Ukraine. That’s some of the stuff that I spoke about here. And the economic you know, the potential for economic growth in Ukraine once that war is over. And they see Donald Trump as a one eighty from the weakness of Joe Biden. And it’s it’s just fascinating how they’re how

you know, their response to him. I mean, he won this crowd over, there’s no doubt. And even before he spoke, you know, I picked it up at the various you know, the Panels I was on you know a lot of people.

You know, there’s a ninety day freeze on fourign eight right now that that is the Ukrainian Fighting Bill is because you know, they want they need continued aid and they need weapons. But they understand why he’s knowing it.

They they believe that in the Trump doctrine, they they wholeheartedly support the Trump doctor doctor, and that York needs to kick in. And the fact that Trump came out and took on Vladimir Putin. He did this in the middle of the conference, during a you know, during during the in the middle of the week, he came out

and said, I want Putin to the table to negotiate with with UH, with Zelensky, Vladimir Zelensky, the Ukrainian leader or else. And you know that his economy is going to fall off the cliff because we’re going to hit him with sanctions and tarrifs and you know, produce more oil which would destroy which would really hurt the Russian economy,

which is his entire strength. The fact that he did that and everybody knows he’s seriously, he’s not Joe Biden. He just doesn’t throw out threats is quite remarkable. And that that that was a huge point here at the conference.

So Donald Trump did not attend this conference, but he in many ways I wouldn’t say controlled it, but he he was on He was on everybody’s mind here. He was the man at this conference, even though he wasn’t here physically.

Speaker 1 Wow, this is that is some story, h Charlie. I mean you were at the conference almost a week. Uh uh did you have a chance to talk about your book? Go wo go broke it all?

Speaker 2 You know, people came up to me. It’s that I see. I didn’t think this place would be a place that was open to my central message, which is, you know, which is you know, anti wokeism, you know, to to that that the country needs to get away from all these ESG mandates, which kind of came from Davos. That’s

where the whole notion of zero carbon footprint and uh and they lost.

Speaker 1 The dictator is won and Davos people lost.

Speaker 2 And they did, and but they they are moving away from that. Now. This place is much more servative than it’s ever been. And you know, I haven’t been here, and like I would say, you know, John, I used to come every year. I haven’t been here in about eight years. This place, I’ve never seen the World Economic

form or with as they call it here turned turned his MAGA as it was, It was magga in ways that I never expected. You know, people here respect Trump and respect what he’s bringing to the table right now.

And by the way, as you know, I’ve always I’ve been somewha critical of Donald. He gets mad at me and calls me an never Trumper when I when I say stuff that I disagree with him about. But you know, I’m I’m about cooling balls and strikes. And this is clear.

He clearly dominated this conference, John. You know, maybe not specifically during every paddle, but after every paddle, it’s always what do you think Donald Trump’s gonna do? Where’s he going? I mean, it was just totally amazing I’ve never seen that.

That was not the case when I cover this during the years when uh, when Barack Obama was was was was president, and certainly not the case when when Joe Biden was was was here, was was in the oval office.

Speaker 1 I should say he in three days in office. For four days in office, he has made quite a difference. And and I think Europe is starting to go his way because they noticed that a strong leader really is a strong leader.

Speaker 2 Well let’s think about what he did. Yes, he ended well, he ended wokeness in many ways. That ended it, but put put a put a big, you know, stake to the heart one of the major ones over the week last week on on his DEI executive orders ending the I in the federal government. You know big businesses are

gonna follow that, and and.

Speaker 1 The zillion people have to go to work five days a week.

Speaker 2 Yes, and he’s gonna ease and that’s it too. And you know when he called in to Davos, you mentioned the e I. Yeah, I’m sure they loved it, because they loved it. They used to. They used to break Charlie and everything else.

Speaker 1 We’re out of time, but maybe we can talk over the weekend and we’ll me and you will try to arrange that. Thank you so much, Stay safe and Davos and uh we’ll talk again soon.

Speaker 2 You got it, John,
