Automated transcript · uncorrectedWell Sunday morning. Was this his Sunday morning? Is doctor Steve Kate otherwise known as doctor Sky or is it Steve Kate otherwise known as doctor Skuy See I call you doctor anyway, Steve Well.
John will never fool the audience. We just try to provide you and everybody, I’m amazing mind experiences of things that we probably don’t talk about because obviously politics seems to be on everybody’s mind. But we talk about on the Cat’s Roundtable other things that hopefully people enjoy.
Well, you know, you have to expand your mind on a Sunday morning and say, my god, what is weedy to answer? I was having a discussion with my son and he was really into explaining how being able to break the light barrier is possible. We just don’t know how to do it.
You’re absolutely right, John, that would be a major milestone in the world of quantum physics. Even Einstein, if you were alive today, would certainly be a good student of that. But we begin John on this Sunday morning with a brief update on the Boeing Starliner. As most people are hearing this every week wondering when are we ever going
to get those two astronauts back. Apparently Boeing had a news conference just the other day and the option still exists. We do not have confirmed dates as to when the astronauts will return. And here’s the simple recaps. The star Line are attached to the iss the space station. It cannot leave autonomously. In other words, they can’t just press
buttons from inside the space station and guide it like a video game. And the reason that this is important they may have to sacrifice that space vehicle so that they can eventually go to another crew Dragon SpaceX craft that’ll bring up a couple of new astronauts. So the reason that they might have to stay up there all
the way till February aplutely confirmed is that they’re not so sure that these thruster issues. They’ve tested twenty seven of twenty eight to the thrusters, John, but right now we don’t have a definitive answer. So that’s really what we can know, at least at this point this Sunday morning on the Boeing Starliner.
You know Boeing is getting a bad reputation.
Yes they are, John, and it’s amazing. I just had an interview yesterday which I’d like to share when I will on the doctor Skuy experience here on WABC Radio. A gentleman who was an engineer for Boeing that worked on the Saturn five moon rocket and he developed, along with others with doctor Vone von Brown, the genius of
this big rocket of the nineteen sixties and seventies. And I asked him straight up, I said, tell me your opinion of what’s going on with Boeing today. And he said, in his way, he was very calm, but he was very much you know, he was right on point that he feels that his team that developed the Boeing I
mean the Apollo rocket, he worked something called zero defects. That was the engineering team. So he simply said, you know, it’s about time they really reason you resurfaced this whole concept of zero defects because they never had a failure John on the Saturn five moon rocket and especially his development of the first day and soho. Boeing has a
lot to do to make these corrections, but zero defects, that was what was all about with the engineers of the past.
Well, Steve, when you’re talking about space travel and with very few options, it isn’t the car. You can’t just pull the car over over the side of the road and wait for triple A to come. This is space travel.
There is nobody out there to restu here.
You’re absolutely right, John, it’s serious.
You need They need that zero zero where is it again?
Zero defects? That was what their engineering team was. That’s right, And if they follow this, you know again, I don’t want attack Boweing. I don’t have a right to. I don’t know all the administrative things, but just from the general public’s view and what we talk about on the CATS roundtable, obviously they need to do a whole review.
And just like this gentleman who’s almost ninety years old, John, how come wisdom at ninety years old gets it right? It’s what like we always talk about common sense, John, You know that better than I can imagine in everything we do. You bet.
What else is going on?
Well, John, we don’t want to talk about another mission that’s going up to space real soon. And this is one that’s quite interesting space X as they continue to be the leader, in my opinion and others in space and privatization. A billionaire named Jared Isaacson is working on a mission called Polari’s Dawn and he and another three
astronauts hopefully can launch as early as August twenty six. And what they’re going to do with that SpaceX crew Dragon capsule is performed the first p private spacewalk ever done in the civilian world. And they’re going to attain an altitude of about four hundred and thirty five miles above the Earth, which is even more incredible. We haven’t
seen astronauts go that high since the Apollo days. And John, they got one other future plan. They may send their mission with private astronauts and engineers to help repair the Hubble space telescope. So it all looks very promising for the private energy of private enterprise in space. Isn’t that incredible?
That is incredible? How long has the Hubble.
Been out, John, we’re talking about nineteen eighty nine, And I remember this launched myself, because this spacecraft has performed great and obviously all the news that we get right now of the James Webb telescope superseding Hubble. A good friend of mine, an astronaut named Story Musgrave, probably the smartest man I ever met. He had like four PhDs
and five master’s degrees, it was the astronaut of previous missions that went up and repaired the Hubble space telescope. And he said to me, and I don’t need to promote him in any way doing something wrong. He basically told me that when he was working on that particular you know, repair mission, he lost a couple of nuts
and bolts. Those nuts and bolts became space debris. But they did get the Hubble fish. It was like having your eyes checked. The original mirror and optics were not properly done from the ground. That’s an interesting story unto.
Itself, and I’ll tell you I’ve said this a long time. McDonald douglas used to build a dc H so like a brick craft house, and Boeing built the seven oh sevens. Boeing built the seven twenty seven to seven forty seven’s a brick crap houses. But when it came to seven thirty seven, and I think the accountants were is roge
at that point.
I think you’re right, John, And going back briefly, I’ve spent a lot of my time talking to the people who’ve developed the earlier aircraft like the Boeing seven forty seven, and I talked to an old timer he’s passed on.
He was responsible for the design of the seven forty seven, the seven twenty seven, And going back to McDonald douglas, many of my good friends were on the design team of the McDonald douglas DC ten and the great DC eight foreigne and jet airliner is a great accomplishment in the world of aviation. And John, we end off with
this mystery of the week very briefly. We always have something to really stimulate our minds. We find out that civilization, of course, is thought to have developed in the area of Mesopotamia modern day geography means Iran Syria in Iraq.
But they’ve found Babylonian clay tablets four thousand years old that have been deciphered and information on those. John talks about the Sun, the moon, the planets. But even more mysterious, they believe that events in the sky on these tablets were signs from the gods about the future of plagues, wars, and the deaths of kings and people like that. So
the mystery remains, John, the ancients had a good view of the heavens. They knew things. Most of those mysteries are being unraveled right now, and John Finally, things that people can see in the sky if you get up early in the morning folks and look into the eastern sky.
Mars and Jupiter are in a close conjunction right now, Jupiter brighter than Mars. Jupiter itself looks white the yellow, but Mars, of course, the red god of war. You can see that. And we’re coming up on the nineteenth with the first of supermoons of the year twenty twenty four, the full Surgeon Moon. John on the nineteenth and what
can listeners do. Go to WABC radio dot com proudly with our doctors sky experience on great events in the heavens and also interviews on American exceptionalism. Always a privileging, Honor John to be with you on the Cat’s Round Table.
And well, one more story. I’m gonna on the Greek island of Nisidos, and on top of them, on monastery that was built five hundred and twenty three years ago. There’s an ancient sword that was built four hundred beasts.
The stones that are laid out on this foot, I don’t know where they came from, because that stones are not prevalent on the island. And those his things are so heavy, How did they get them up the mountain?
How do they place them? It wasn’t the people who lived here.
You know, John, you’re right. And we talked last week about the Egyptians claiming that they used hydraulic water pressure to lift these big stones. But let’s keep our minds open as you and I and probably a lot of listeners.
You’re so right. They may have had a hand, and not necessarily a human hand, in unsolving some of these problems of lifting. The word we call it today would be the concept of anti gravity. That’s fascinating. Steve k got this guy. Thank you for moving our minds and Sunday morning. God bless you and God bless her. Thank you, John.
Good morning to you and the listeners.
