Speaker 1 Sunday Morning with us is Steve Kates, otherwise known as Doctor Sky, and he’s always giving us mysteries to make our mind wander. Well Steve Kates, this morning, what’s or what’s up?

Speaker 2 Well, Good morning, Happy Sunday to you and the listeners. John, we go to Mars, we take that journey and we’ll talk a little bit about the Perseverance Rover, this robotic spacecraft. John’s been on the surface as of the eighteenth of April, the fifteen and twenty days. Just to let the listeners know, a day on Mars, if you and I were, there’s

thirty nine minutes longer than our twenty four hour day. But the Perseverance Rover is actually in a region on a hill in this area called the Zero Crater. It’s not on a region called Skull Hill. They name these things after what they think, you know, just kind of mimicking names interesting ones. So they actually see that this particular

spacecraft has actually found more evidence no water per se, of sedimentary type rocks, some strange formations, they’ve noticed, some different type of chemistry. What they’re doing is trying to sample some of this and put them in little test tubes.

But this Perseverance rover is quite interesting, John, because you know it takes now about ten or eleven minutes when they send a signal from the Earth just to tell a little over what to do and move along. So great research. Still, of course, the story hasn’t been finished with Perseverance.

Speaker 1 Now. A couple of weeks ago they found a crater that supposedly and it might be possibly an ocean underneath or water underneath.

Speaker 2 Very true, John, And we’re seeing this on the surface of Mars. It’s really strange because some people have jumped the gun and said maybe this would be a good habitation place for man missions, like you could literally live inside there to shield yourself from Martian radiation and dust storms and such. But it’s interesting what’s happening. They think

these particular ones are found near the Martian poles, and they’re thinking that when the ice, which is not water ice per se, it’s mostly frozen you know, carbon dioxide like dry ice. When this changes, what happens is the technical term is when the ice supposedly melks, it goes and sublimates, I mean it goes from a solid, it

passes liquid, and it goes to a gas. And that erosion may have actually caused some of these little potholes you want to call them. On Mars again, Mars, John, as you and I both talk about the most amazing place, the mysteries are just continuing, and I’m glad to report about that.

Speaker 1 Someday we will find out the truth. What else is on? What else is out there this morning?

Speaker 2 Well, closer to home, John, we’re looking at China and the development of their fifth jet generation, you know, military fighter. One of them is called this one is the Chinese Chengdu. They call it the J twenty. Translating the name, it means the mighty Dragon. Well, a lot of people in the aerospace industry are looking at this aircraft saying, wow,

look at all the features that has, you know, just like it mimics some of our F twenty two raptor the F thirty five, and a couple of Russian aircraft. And again a lot of people are saying that this is basically not that I know this, but this is what many in the aerospace industry believe, is that there’s

nothing really new under the sun with the Chinese developing this particular platform, and many I can’t prove it, but this is what the report states, many of this technology may have been compromised to espionage, and again we don’t know for sure. But again we’ve built some of the most amazing fighters. And in this administration with President Trump

and Boeing, they’re looking to build the F forty seven, which will actually be a next generation called the sixth generation fighter. Obviously, the technology here in America and other countries is incredible understood, not a mystery. Wait, oh here we go, John, We saved the best for last. In my opinion, how about this? The question is did the

Sun once have a companion star? And every so called, oh maybe twenty six million years, this little tiny red dwarf comes back around in orbit. Could be the thing that causes some of the extinctions that we’ve had on Earth because it unleashes high holy hell from the cosmos.

When this star allegedly gets closed. The star’s name is of course called Nemesis. We haven’t proven that Nemesis is out there, but the theory and the reason we haven’t proven it is the star maybe too far away to know if it’s locked onto the Earth, but here every twenty six million years, this theory goes that it shakes

up this comet orbit that’s around the Sun. We know that, and that the inner Solar system just gets continually bombarded. And you and I have talked about mass extinctions here on the Earth. What the good news is Mother Earth has this amazing way to heal herself, and even if nemesis is true, well we don’t have to worry about

anything at least, according to that prediction, for maybe another twenty or so million years. How about that.

Speaker 1 That’s a long time, it sure is.

Speaker 2 That’s incredible, And we want to remind everybody proud to be here on your station WABC every Friday midnight to Saturday morning two am. The Doctor Sky experience. Always great guests. I appreciate the opportunity. And what do we do, John, We say, always remember to keep your eyes to the skies, your feet on the ground. And the sole purpose of

that is simply this. People tell me they like it to open our minds about the mysteries that we do here on the Catch Round Table every Sunday, and continuing that in a longer form. So thank you and a happy Sunday to you and all the listeners around the nation and around the world.

Speaker 1 Steve Kates, Doctor the Sky thank you so much, and thank you for enlightening us and expanding our minds on Sunday mornings and I we’ll catch up with you again real soon.

Speaker 2 Always a pleasure. Have a good morning.
