Speaker 1 Sunday morning. Well, what’s a Sunday morning without Governor David Pattison to give us some wisdom of what the heck is going on in our city or state or country. Governor Pattison, what do you think is going on? A lot of things happened this week. It looks like the Democrats have a candidate. She hasn’t selected a vice president yet.

Speaker 2 Do tell us, well, John, this is really quite a summer. I want to go back to a couple of weeks ago when almost tragically, our former president could have been killed when he was giving his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, And of course all of our hearts, Republicans or Democrats, went out to him, and those whose hearts didn’t go

out to him just don’t have hearts. But when he comes back and he speaks at the convention and he takes his running mate accept the nomination, things were going really well. And I think at that point the Trump people and maybe other Republicans made a big mistake. They continue to talk about Biden, how he’s not fit, how

he shouldn’t even be running, and they figured that if he got out of the race that the party, the Democratic Party, would be in peril and that there would be a big food fight at the convention in late August.

But that’s not what happened. President Biden, whenever dificiencies he had had the courage to withdraw from the race, but simultaneously endorsed Kamala Harris. And two days after that, she raised one hundred million dollars in one day. And it’s kind of created a new excitement about the presidential race because now you don’t have two octogenarians running for president.

So Harris now is in the spotlight. And I don’t know. In twenty twenty, I was very disappointed with her. I didn’t like the way she treated President Vice President Biden at the time in the debate. But she either went to finishing school or had a seance with the oracle, because when I hear her speak now, she sounds strong,

she sounds like a person who’s informed. She doesn’t come across as being edgy as she used to be. And now she’s pulled even in the polls. And instead of responding, the former president was up saying, oh, Kamala, lying Kamala this, and lying Kamala that. You know, after eight years that gets old. Let’s start talking about the issues, which is

what she’s doing. And I think this is quite a horse race. And I believe that if the Republicans don’t change their tune, because right now they spent a whole week, John, we had new Game which on the show talking about how the Democrats didn’t have a real democracy at their convention.

Political parties are not part of a democracy. They are political parties. They consolidated. We used to say Republicans fall in line, Democrats fall in love, but Republicans fall in line. Well, this time the Democrats fell in line. And I think we’ve got an incredible race coming up. And right now, John, I believe Kamala Harris is the next president.

Speaker 1 Wow wow. Well, you know, don’t forget. She is black, she is Bombay, Indian, she was from Jamaica, Caribbean, she is you know, she’s a Californian. And that’s a lot of votes in California.

Speaker 2 Well, you know, And and I.

Speaker 1 Think it’s I think it’s a closer race than people would like to call it.

Speaker 2 Yes, I think people don’t realize how close it actually is. I think she could win. Remember, she’s a woman. She’s also a black woman, and it was really always black women who turned out the votes in the black community, not black men. And it’s it’s really an exciting time, but it’s also I think a time for leadership instead

of you know, all these issues about how people run conventions and that kind of thing. I think we need to start telling the American people what we can do for them, as opposed to what’s wrong with the other people who think they can do better.

Speaker 1 Let me ask one more question. If you were whispering her ear on a vice presidential pick, who would you whisper.

Speaker 2 If I were whispering in her ear? I think I would go with Kelly from Arizona. He’s a moderate. He’s very careful about how he presents himself because I have a personal feeling about him as I actually was a friend.

I guess I still am a friend, but I can’t talk to her. Of Gabrielle Gifford’s who I knew in the National Conference and state legislators and then when she became a congresswoman. But for the country, I think he’d be the steady choice for vice president. And was starting to see some issues with a President Trump’s choice who

made a remark about women that didn’t have children, and then tried to include Kamala Harris. But Kamala Harris is a stepparent, and as you know, John, I’m a stepparent to two different children, and I love being a parent, and I have my own son that you know, I made myself. But I don’t think we need to get

into that kind of thing. But that’s the kind of thing that I think needs to get cleaned up. If President Trump is going to be the dictor.

Speaker 1 I understood, and I think that would make President Obama very happy, because he was a I understand from behind the scenes that one of the arguments was that he wanted Kelly from Arizona for number one spot.

Speaker 2 Interesting, that’s interesting. Well, you know, there are those in and outside the community who have felt that President Obama wants to be the only black president that was ever in American history. So you know, there are a lot of stories going around, but I think the most important one is that they all jumped on Kamala Harris’s train

and he didn’t get on until last Thursday night, which is not a good time if you’re trying to get a lot of publicity. So in other words, he came kicking and screaming, which I think professionally, he could have done a whole lot better.

Speaker 1 Understood, Governor David Patterson, thank you for your wisdom, and we’ll catch up again real soon.

Speaker 2 Thank you, Johnson
