Speaker 1 Sunday Morning with us today is Congressman Gus Billeracis, and he’s on many many committees. He’s on the Energy and Commerce Committee. He’s on the Commerce subcommittee with mister Polone Junior on talking about am radios and UH so many other Gus Billeracis Sunday morning, Are you drinking your cup of coffee?

Speaker 2 Absolutely? Absolutely? I need my coffee, John, because we’ve got a lot of work to do to win this election. And I’m not talking about just for myself, but to save the country.

Speaker 1 Where where do you want to start this morning? There’s so many things happening. What do you want to talk about?

Speaker 2 I mean energy? You know what? I tell you? What? What the fact that that the presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris was President of the Senate. As Vice president UH, she’s obligated to attend UH and preside co preside over with the Speaker of the House for a joint session of Congress with the Prime Minister of Israel, Israel being

our greatest ally, absolutely our greatest ally, and she chose to campaign instead of being there doing her duty. If that’s indicative of what she’s going to be like, If as President of the United States, then we’re in trouble.

So you know, I’m doing everything I can to elect President Trump. And then also I was just actually campaigning with Rick Scott, who is considering well, actually he is going to run for Leader of the Senate in the next term.

Speaker 1 So Rick Scott is a very very decent person. You’re absolutely right. Story is on the Energy Committee and the big question in the Energy Committee, there is so big, vast differences between Kamala Harris saying we’re gonna get rid of fossil fuels and we’re gonna be all electric and Donald Trump that says, you know, drill, drill, drill, and

and make America great again by creating the biggest energy and reduce the prices of energy.

Speaker 2 Absolutely, John, Uh, we need to drill, We need to drill, We need domestic production. We could not depend on our adversaries anymore under the Trump administration. That’s exactly what we did. And you saw the prices fall, right, So it’s it’s key, and you know, it’s just not realistic. It’s not realistic to depend on just electric uh. And people should have

choices even with this ev stuff. And we’ll get into the am radio issue. Uh. Well, you know, a lot of a lot of folks listen to AM AM radio. You’re number one in the country, John, Uh. And Uh, you know they depend on AM radio for for so much. Uh.

You know, first of all, it could be a life saver, you know when we have it, particularly here in Florida in the rural areas where we have hurricanes. Uh. It’s the only form of communication for some people. Uh.

Speaker 2 And then you know religious stations, conservative liberal stations, what have you. And of course I listen to my baseball games on AM radio. So the Democrats uh, and not just the Democrats, there are some Democrats like Polone that is doing this bill with me to save AM radio because the car manufacturers are trying to take it out

of the cars. They say they interferes with the EVS. Well, you know, it’s a cost issue for them. Uh.

Speaker 2 And and they could keep the AM radio. And so you know, I have a lot of rural areas, and I know, particularly our seniors, they listen to AM radio. They depend on it for information.

Speaker 1 Yes, we’ve been supporting it, and we’re glad that you and the Polona supporting it. Is there any opposition? I understand the car companies, General Motors and a few other car companies lobbied Washington in a big way with millions and millions and millions of dollars to try to say, get rid of AM radios because they want to charge

nineteen dollars ninety nine cents to give you the AM radio.

Speaker 2 Yeah, that’s what they would do. I mean, Mike, can you imagine that they would want to charge the people to give the original communication AM radio, which is so dependable. And the car companies are fighting us. There’s no cup question.

The manufacturer is not the dealers. They’re fighting us on this, but the people are going to win. And John, you’ve been very, very instrumental, and I appreciate it. With the leadership on both sides. We’re going to have a markup as soon as we get back after Labor Day because Congress is off in August. I don’t think we should

be off, but I’ll be working in my district. But we’re going to have a markup. They promised us this, and this is new for you because I just found out last night they were going to have a markup after the Labor Day holiday and get it on the floor as soon as possible.

Speaker 1 Well, you let me know anything I can help because a lot of people on the right side, and these manufacturers, especially General Motors, you know, somebody better tell them go woke, go broke.

Speaker 2 Yeah, you know, it’s not going to cost them much more. They say they interferes with the evs. Well, I’ve spoken to people say the electric vehicles EV I’ve spoken to folks that say that’s not the case. But even if it is is, they can do it. They have the equipment to do it, and people love their AM radio

and I’m gonna do everything I can to preserve it.

Speaker 1 I agree. Well, lets Bill A. Racis, thank you for everything you do, and stay on top of energy. Let’s make America the low cost energy provider again. Let’s not make poor people poorer by charging them double the price for gasoline.

Speaker 2 Absolutely, you’re right, John, and you’re right. And the seniors are unlimited incomes, poor people. It’s just awful and make it is all about common sense. To you’re a businessman. President Trump’s a businessman. It’s all about common sense, and we’re going to bring common sense back to Washington.

Speaker 1 God bless you and God bless America.

Speaker 2 God bless you, John, Thank you, God bless America,
