Speaker 1 With us this Sunday morning is Ambassador John Bowten, And so many things are happening in the world. Well, one of the big events this week, Prime Minister net Yahoo was in Congress and what are the results. Ambassador give us your analysis of net Yahoo’s visit to the Congress and then private visits with President Biden Vice President Harris.

What is your analysis.

Speaker 2 Well, I think all in all, it was a successful trip for net Yahoo. He got another chance to make the case for why he continues to seek victory over Hamas in the war that Hamas started back on October the seventh. And I think although something like thirty Democrats boycotted the talk to a joint session of Congress, those

who did attend were We’re very enthusiastic. He got something like forty standing ovations. American presidents would like to get that many when they give the State of the Union. And I think he made not only the case for why Israel needs to eliminate the threat from Hamas, but focused on what the real threat in the Middle East is,

and that’s Iran, which armed and equipped, trained, financed, and I think directs not just Tamas, but has Balah in Lebanon and Syria, the hoodies blocking the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, and of course Iran has its own very large armed forces and seeking nuclear weapons. So that’s what America, that’s what the Biden White House has not

focused on for the past several years. The real central threat here is Iran, and Nan Yahoo, almost more than any other politician American or Israeli for that matter, really has made Iran the understands that Iran is the center of the threat that we all face. I think he probably can communicated that to Biden and Harris privately too.

Speaker 1 And is visit to Donald Trump.

Speaker 2 Well, you know, it’s a real contrast among the three meetings with Biden. Almost certainly, although they didn’t they haven’t released the tales, but I’m almost certain that focused on the ongoing cease fire negotiations, which the White House has been saying for months now, or on the verge of success, and they’ve been wrong so far. Maybe things have changed,

Maybe they are about to get a ceasefire. I’d be skeptical myself, but we’ll wait and see. So in other words, they met Yahoo and Biden focused on the real day to day issues that are in front of them. I think what was startling to anybody who watched Kamala Harris’s public posture and statements about the meeting with Net Yahoo

is how different it was from past administrations, even of the Democratic Party. I really think Harry Truman is turning in his grave as to what her position on Israel is going to be. I just think there’s not going to be a special relationship between the US and Israel if Kamala Harris wins the presidency. I think that’s clear.

And you know, with Trump in the first term, Trump was pursued a very pro Israel policy. I think a lot of people assume that that’s what will happen in a second term, and it may be. But Trump has been showing signs of concern about the war and saying Israel’s terrible on public relations. They have to finish it

up and get the hostages back because I don’t think he wants to be burdened with defending Israel as it experiences all this criticism. But you know, all in all, the whole trip I think for Netnyahu made sense. I think it’s always good to talk to your allies and get them to come to Washington and meet with people,

members of Congress and the like. So it was a good thing to do and hopefully we’ll clarify at least for some people what the real threat in the region is, and that’s Iran.

Speaker 1 Absolutely, and nobody’s doing anything about Iran. Iran is responsible for all the terrorist groups, and the Suez Canal and Red Sea is still closed and they’re threatening. Well, the current Circuit Secretary of State said that the coming have an atomic bomb, and Israel said, will never allow that.

What’s going to happen?

Speaker 2 Well, I think ultimately, certainly under Netanyahu, Israel would act to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, but we ought to be prepared to help them. Never forget that although the Ietolas call Israel the Little Satan, they call us the Great Satan. And you mentioned this point about the who he’s keeping the Red Sea shu Has Canal

passage closed. You know that that forces many many oil shipments from the Middle East to go around Africa. All the commercial traffic insurance rates are far too high for ships to go through the Red Sea passage. That’s increasing consumer costs all these goods that are coming to Europe and the United States for Christmas, and violates a principle

of foreign policy that’s been a core American interests since the time of the Revolution, which is freedom of the seas. We allow these hoodies and Yemen to block one of the world’s most important sea lanes of communication. It’s just incredible that we’ve allowed it to go on this long.

Speaker 1 France, France is threatening to pull out of the Ukraine and threatening to pull out of NATO. I mean, is that real or is that unreal?

Speaker 2 Well, you know, their politics are very confused now and this new well he’s not new, but the leader of the left wing coalition that got the most seats in the recent parliamentary election, Jean Luke melon Shaw, has been anti NATO his entire career. He said the other day, if the press report is correct, he said, I favor

the logic of disarmament and pavement. He just set it right out. Wants to withdraw from NATO. I think this is going to cause a clash with the President Emmanuel McCraw, who, whatever his other faults, and they’re a fair amount of him, has not threatened to pull France out of NATO. And under the Fifth Republic’s constitution, the president really has the authority.

But what it means for France is, you know, I hope they can get through the Olympics. They had a terrible problem Friday morning with the sabotage of rail lines and things. I don’t know if that’s a hardbing ear of more to come or what, but I think France is going to be in real trouble once the Olympics

are over. It’s just it’s gotten to a point of political gridlock.

Speaker 1 There understood, well, Ambassador John Bolton, thank you for your wisdom. Keep speaking out for our country, and we pray for America, and I guess we can otherwise. We’re going to take it day by day and there’s that can about one hundred days left for the election, and let’s see what happens.

Speaker 2 That’s indeed the thing to do. Good talking to you, John,
