Speaker 1 Sunday Morning with us. Today’s w George Pataki, and he’s been with us quite open lately, and there’s so many things that are happening happening in Europe, and he wanted to comment on the Ukraine governor PROTACTI tell us, give us an update of what you think is happening.

Speaker 2 Well, I’ll tell you. I think that the President President Trump’s positioning on Ukraine so far has been completely wrong. You look at his what he has done with Hamas and Israel. He has stood with Israel to put eximuent pressure on Hamas because they’re the bad guys. Biden did the opposite Biden pressure of Israel and it did not work.

I think Trump is making the same mistake that Biden made with Israel in the case of Ukraine. Instead of putting all the pressure on Putin, who is clearly the bad guy, a horrible human being, in this case, he’s putting the pressure on Ukraine. I think we all want the war to end as soon as possible. I don’t

think anyone wants the war to end sooner than the Ukrainian people. But the way to do it is not the pressure Ukraine. It’s the pressure Putin and Russia because they’re the ones that are wrong. They’re the ones who have acted like barbarians in this case, and they’re the ones who should be under the pressure to reach a

reasonable peace.

Speaker 1 And something tells me, Governor, and I was with this with the President last week, that I don’t think he trust him. I mean, you know, it’s not a question, what do you know, you have a pretty good gut feeling is he trustworthy enough? Because President Trump has said to him that the minute we make peace with the Putin,

we want elections in Ukraine.

Speaker 2 You know, the person who is completely untrustworthy here is Putin. You know, he has never kept one of his promises. I mean, we had an agreement that Russia would not invade Ukraine and uphold their territorial integrity, but we knew Putin would never uphold it because Putin has lied his entire time in office. This man is a killer who

has been anti American, anti Western, anti the whole concept of civilization. And the thoughts that he might have doubts about Zelensky in comparison to the fact that you know you can’t trust Putin to me, makes it black and white.

This is like Hamas and Israel. Hamas was wrong, Israel was right, Ukraine is right. Russia and Putin are wrong. So, you know, it’s a question of how do we reach peace, and the way to reach peace, in my view, is putting maximum pressure on Russia so that Putin realizes he’s never going to win, there’s never going to be a

Russian conquest of the country of Ukraine, and that the sooner he makes a fair piece, the better it is for him.

Speaker 1 I understood anything else you want to talk about it on a Sunday morning.

Speaker 2 You know, I know that Musk is getting enormous criticism, but the idea that it’s somehow wrong to go after the trillions in fraud and waste and the federal government is ridiculous. It is incredible how much waste and the Federal Owned Accounting Office has indicated in the nature of more than a half trillion dollars a year that is

fraud and waste in the federal government. So instead of the Democrats trying to block Musk and Doge, they should be embracing the idea that going after this fraud and waste is the right thing for America and not something that’s political.

Speaker 1 Well, a couple of days ago, Governor Hopeful decided she’s not going to remove Mayor Adams. And also she was mad as heck at Governor at President Trump for removing the congestion pricing. I mean, everybody else is happy. I mean the Jersey’s happy, west Chester County is happy, National County, Suffolk County is happy. The other out of boroughs of

New York City. You’re happy. Why he’s coming to home, I’m not happy.

Speaker 2 You know, I can’t answer that, John. I think she made the right decision in not removing Adams. You know, yes, he was under indictment, and it looks like those indictments will go away. But the idea that the governor can remove or should remove the elected mayor of New York City when there hasn’t been any prime conviction is simply wrong.

So I think the fact that she finally decided not to remove Adams is right. Let the people decide in November, not politicians in all, but he decide in the winter. And with respect to congestion pricing, you know, we want people to go back to the offices in midtown Manhattan.

And when you put more cost on people, make it more expensive to try to get to your office, you miss, just make it less likely that people are going to go back and return the vibrancy to Manhattan. So the president did he believes he has the power to do it.

Hope that wanted the money. Hey, New York State already gets enough money, too much money from the taxpayers. They don’t need more.

Speaker 1 And the belief, Governor Protectee, is that the MTA is a bottomless pit. You know.

Speaker 2 What was interesting to me is they got this whatever it is, nine billion because of congestion pricing, and the next thing they know, they say, oh, we need another I think it’s ten or fifteen billion dollars. It never ends, you know, and it’s never unsustainable. And New York is too expensive. The government costs too much. We could use

a little bit of doge in Albany and in the city Hall instead of raising it.

Speaker 1 I think we should we need doge from New York City, New York State, in California, Illinois. Why should President Trump put money federal money into those states unless she knows which a county foot.

Speaker 2 Absolutely, unless unless it works for the country, it doesn’t make sense to do that.

Speaker 1 Governor Protack, you thank you for your input. Thank you for your great twelve years of being governor, and we’ll catch up with you again real soon.

Speaker 2 Thank you, John, always good talking with you. Take care,
