Asteroid potential in 2032 years.

Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning with us as Steve Kates, otherwise known as doctor Sky, and he is one good friend, and he is one smart guy, and he tells us about the problems in the universe. Steve, what’s up to this week?
Well, good morning John to all the listeners of the Cast Roundtable. Here we go again with another update as we spoke about last week and before, of asteroid twenty twenty four. Why are four and just in case people miss it. The original assessment was that it had a one point six percent chance of striking the Earth in
twenty thirty two, and we did another update because they updated we had breaking Yes, absolutely and always good to be the one to report it first. It went from one point six to two point two and now astronomers all huddled together with their great muttons and telescopes. They’ll be putting the James Web telescope on extra duty. It’s
now up to a two point six percent. John.
Not to alarm people, but many are saying that if it were to strike the Earth, and that prediction of where it’s going to hit is not exactly right. Now, we will time to figure it out if indeed it does come close. But back in nineteen oh eight, we had a very serious event June thirtieth, nineteen oh eight,
was something called the Tunguska event. And the reason I mentioned if the same size asteroid obviously that we’re talking about here, the twenty twenty four one. It created the most incredible destruction over northern Siberia. Now, not to be alarmed, we don’t know if this asteroids Nico Lyon or it’s just a big pile of rubble. But John, that’s an
interesting story because we’re going to get more information as the scientists explore it and track it and get the orbit with the James Webb telescope do an extra duty.
Well, I guess we’re not going to send Bruce Willis up there, not any time, So tell us what other things are going on, anything new on My friend called me today and says he’s on his way to Antia.
I said, make sure you get the WABC’s single done there.
Well, John, that’s amazing because we have a quick story to talk about. Relating to that. The question would be asked, is I know you know aircraft, And as a pilot a question would be wider aircraft not regularly fly over Antarctica.
Many people will say, well, obviously it’s cold, harsh weather, few refueling locations and quality airstrips to boot. There’s also a weaker magnetic field there, and of course divergent airports. But as you might know, and many people of course in the aviation world know this, but many out there do not. Many aircraft today have a system called atops,
and obviously that dictates how these airplanes can fly, a limiting distance that aircraft can fly, let’s say, on one engine over the ocean. Now that’s very important because over Antarctica, that would be very disastrous if we have no way to calculate the next landing strip. But this is mostly over water. So some people, in a humorous way, and
I don’t like to be too funny here, they describe tops as this. Its real designation is more sophisticated one. But they’re saying it stands where engines turn or people swim. So there’s certain concerns about that. Maybe that’s the mix of why you don’t see aircraft regularly flying routes that are that distant overland.
I’ve never I’ve never flown over Antarctica, but I have flown in a single engine aircraft when I was young, young, and stupid over the Gulf of America used to be America Mexico, from from Tampa all the way to King Kun.
And when you’re in a single engine, every once in a while you think your ears tell you that engine sounds funny. If you have only one engine, you either it either stays on or you go swimming.
Absolutely, just like we said, engines turner, people swim. Yeah, you have the honor of speaking to President Trump, and I think here’s a great suggestion if you hadn’t mentioned it to him before I mentioned it to you privately, I said, change the name of the Bermuter Triangle to the American Triangle. What say you?
I think that it could be an He’s the American Triangle is bad news. We only want good news for America.
Absolutely, so let it stay Bermuda.
No, because there are magnetic forces there. You know, we have to do a story on it in the future. There are magnetic forces there that do affect airplanes.
Well, we got the mystery of the week. This is an interesting one. It’s very difficult to explain in such a short time, but here we go. The question would be when did time begin? And according to many cosmologists and scientists, it may not have been the Big Bang.
So to make it simple, in the short time we have here, if you mix space time together, you get something called singularity. That’s what’s deep inside a black hole. That’s where everything is compressed and crushed. But some are saying that the universe before us, they were assuming there was a meta universe, a meta universe like something before us,
that somehow it bounced and it created the Big Bang as we know now. And this goes on and on, but it gets more bizarre. John, we know three dimensionals, you know, spatial dimensions. The fourth dimension, as many people may know, is time according to Mines. But here it goes even more bizarre to know that we really don’t
know about time string theory. John talks about the possibility of ten to twenty six dimensions and if we could dig into that, imagine the things we would discover. And I think that’s even more mind perplexing than we even have time for today. But what do we do on the show? John always open people’s minds to explore these
things that I think are so fascinating, and I know you and the listeners I’m sure appreciate it.
Yes, I can understand four dimensions because the fourth dimension being time and it occupies a certain time in a certain place. But I don’t understand fifth dimension, and they don’t.
But I can tell you this much. Yes, I did enjoy. Not to be totally humorous, I always enjoyed the music of the fifth dimension. How about that.
Okay, we’ll take that. But so sometime in the future we’ll talk about the multiple dimensions that people.
Tell you will do.
But my mind does not comprehend it.
Nobody does. John. It’s one of the great mysteries. That’s why we bring this information to the listeners on Sunday morning with your permission, and I want to mention always more information and the doctor Sky experienced the great information from these realms and stories of American exceptionalism. At WABC radio dot com and John Off sneak peek into March,
listeners across this country and around the world, particularly the Western hemisphere, get a total lunar eclipse which will occur on the night of the thirteenth into the fourteenth of March. We’ll be talking more about that, so everybody gets to see what some call the red blood moon. Fascinating stuff.
Well, Steve cage. Thank you so much and we’ll catch up real soon.
Thank you. John had a good sun
