Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning with us his Governor George Pataki, and he is very upset. He was there at nine to eleven and things are happening that he does not agree with Governor Patacky. What is going on?
You know, John, You’re absolutely right. I’m not very happy about it. I was there on September eleventh, pretty much every day thereafter for months, and like you and most of the Yorkers, I knew some of those who died in the attacks on the tower. And of course the Biden Harris administration just announced they’re not going to give
the guest death penalty cut to colleague Sheik Mohammad, who was the mastermind and the brains behind this. And I just think it’s another example of weakness from Biden and Harris in the face of terror, and it’s just got to stop.
But they’re not releasing him. That’s the important thing, isn’t that true?
Well, they’re not releasing him, but that means the America and taxpayer is going to be supporting him for the next thirty or forty years, and who knows who’s going to be kidnapped or taking hostage in the meantime, And they demand that he be exchanged for that hostage. So it creates enormous risk and it also sends John a
horrible message that when it comes to terror, we’re not going to be strong. You know that. We saw that with Biden in Afghanistan. We saw it when he said a minor incursion into Ukraine might be okay. And you can trast our approach which is soft and mushy towards terrorists.
And look at Israel where just recently they killed the top Hesbelah person and they killed one of the top Hamas people. They’re not going to tolerate terrorism. They’re going to stand up to it. We too often compromise with it.
And that’s why I think our country is a very great rich risk today.
I agree with you one hundred percent that we are at risk. And so many millions of people have come into the United States and you have to assume two four percent five percent could be terrorists. There could be really bad people where they they opened up jails and just let them out and say go to the US.
That’s exactly right. We have no there’s no question that some of them came from jails, others came from mental institutions, and others are trained terrorists who have been sent here to disrupt and kill Americans. And the open border that Biden Harris, the Harris the borders are have had for the last four years, is a catastrophe. And I fear
that at some point, their open border policy, their weakness on terrorism, their decision now to leave Khaleid Sheik Muhammad alive forever until he dies of natural death, just opens the door to people, for people to feel they can take advantage of us and attack us or take hostages.
Again, understood, and you’re one percent correct? What else concerns you about what’s going on in our great city that in our great state.
John, I’m just very concerned about both the city. You know, everybody points to statistics that crime is going down. If you will ride the subways or walk the streets, you know that’s not true. But when the district attorney won’t arrest people or won’t prosecute people, of course it looks like crime is down because criminals are not being charged
with crimes. You rob a store and they let you walk. So it’s just anybody in New York knows that crime is out of control, and that’s just the district attorney Braggs, who is just an awful district attorney. It’s the no bail laws that Andrew cuomoll ran through the legislature that tie the hands of those who want to put the
prisoner the criminals away. So I’m very concerned. I’m concerned about crime. I’m concerned about the fact that the taxes and the regulatory burden are so high. But John, what concerns me the most is that we’re leading the country and people leaving the state. They’re going to Florida, they’re going to South Carolina, they’re going to North Carolina, they’re
going to Texas, and they’re not coming here. And when I ran for governor the first time, that was one of the things I talked about. I wanted to change that where people wanted to be in New York. And you know, John, new York was the hot place. Everybody in the country wanted to come to New York. Now
we’re leading the country and people leaving the state. So we need to change. We need to have new policies, and if we do, this great city and this great state will continue to try.
I agree again, Governor, what’s going to happen with the mayor race in New York City, and you have any pulse on it.
You know, I don’t we know that Mayor Adams is going to be challenged. Brad Lander, the public Advocate, has already announced he’s running for mayor. He is way left. He is way left like de Blasio was, and he was a disaster for the city. And I’m sure there will be others running for mayor in the primary as well.
But you know, don’t forget a Republican can win in New York. We had Bloomberg for twelve years, we had Julianni for eight years, and the city was better because we had intelligent, centrist Republican mayors. And you know, I’m worried that a far left Democrat could win the primary and make things even worse. But let’s not forget that
the Republican Party gets a chance to and if enough Democrats see the Democratic candidate as having the wrong ideas for the city, then anybody can win.
Governor George Pertaki, thank you for the twelve years you’ve done with New York State and the great job you did. And God bless America. Thank you, and we’ll catch up with you again real soon.
God bless me again. Thank you John, Thanks for all that you have done with ABC. It’s tremendous. God bless
