Speaker 1 Sunday Morning with Us is Steve Kates, otherwise known as Doctor Sky and he enlightens us every Sunday Morning on what’s going on up there? Steve Kate, Steve, what the heck is going on this weekend?

Speaker 2 Well, good morning, John. Good to be back on the Cat’s Roundtable and we wish everybody the best for the summer season. John, we start off once again with the Sun. It seems like we’ve been beating that topic up here, but for good reason. Right now, as people would imagine, the Sun is continuing to throw out so many flares

and these coronal mass ejections. Just last week we had a total of about six or seven flares, a bunch of these cmemes called coronal mass ejections headed toward the Earth, lighting up auroras for much of the northern hemisphere. But John, I don’t want to be the one who brings depressing news to the show. But the truth is this silvercycle

is far from over, so we might be able to be seeing in the next month or so another of those big giant flares and CMEs that hit the It’s back in the solar superstorm of May tenth. Isn’t that an incredible story. The Sun is belching out more energy all the time every day.

Speaker 1 Well, you know we can’t control it. I mean, no matter what people say, that’s one thing we have zero control of.

Speaker 2 You’re absolutely right, John, anything new.

Speaker 1 Anything new about the Earth spinning on going to reverse spin.

Speaker 3 I mean that is so mind.

Speaker 2 Body, it is, John, nothing to report this morning. But we do know that the core, as we’ve reported before, not to be double redundant duty here. The core has seemingly slowed and reversed its direction. Now people need to understand that the core itself is about seven hundred and eighty miles in diameter. It’s this very intense and hot

ball of matter, meaning like metal, nickel, iron, and its temperature is actually that or greater than the surface of the Sun. But no, nothing to really worry about at this point in time. It has nothing to do directly with the shift of where the north pole is and the geomagnetic pole. But some are saying that it could

induce Now I say it could very carefully and conservatively more volcanic activity and earthquakes around the world. Will have to figure that out in future editions of the Cats Round Table.

Speaker 3 Well, Johnny, it’s so mind boggling. It can’t be. Just what it’s telling us is the Earth is not just a piece of rock. It’s something that somebody created.

Speaker 2 It’s true, John, And of all the planetary objects in the Solar System, the Earth has one of the most complicated, as we call it, you know, internal components. Not every planet has this similar setup. We have the crust, the mantle, the outer core, and then this inner core. But it’s really interesting that you know this meaning scientists, because they’re

detecting a lot of different waves of earthquakes and how they reflect back to the surface. And that sounds complicated it But the truth is, twenty thirty years ago we never had this technology. But we’ll keep you and the listeners posted on future iterations of the Earth is it is?

Speaker 3 Mind body it is?

Speaker 2 And going to space, John, everybody’s scary, as at least I am, And I know the listeners might be the Boeing Starliner. Obviously they’re not stranded in space. But what I reported last week is they may return as early as the first few days of August. Well that’s a four you know, fargone conclusion. We’re obviously looking at it

longer and extended stay they’re still testing out the leaks and the helium trusters, and of course we hope those astronauts return and they will return safely. It’s just that they have to get it right. And it’s been well over a month of trying to get it right. That’s an interesting story.

Speaker 3 Now, what else is going on?

Speaker 2 Well, John, here’s something interesting. I want to jump right to the mystery of the week. And this is really amazing. You know, I live here in Phoenix, Arizona, where the temperatures at all time high were recorded at about one twenty two back in the late nineties. And here’s an interesting story, John, Here’s seven cities that may become non

habitable because of heat, and this is recent story. Phoenix, of course, is number seven. I’m on number Doha and Cutter. Their temperature reach one hundred and twenty two point seven degrees fahrenheit. Going on to number five Bagdad, Iraq with one hundred and twenty five point two degrees faharaheit, and then go to number four Turbat, Pakistan. You hard to

hear about this one twenty eight point seven degrees fahrenheit. Number three Rafa in Saudi Arabia one hundred and thirty degrees John fahrenheit and then at all time high that was reported a long time ago in nineteen twenty two in al Azizia, Libya. They’re recorded temperature. They don’t know if this was totally accurate. One thirty six point four

degrees pharadheit and number one, everybody’s waiting to hear it. I’m finding this amazing, John Kuwait registered in twenty nineteen one hundred and forty five degrees fahrenheit. Now, this is a surface temperature telling us what not only is the sun pumping out more energy and material, but obviously these temperatures around the world, and these cities mine included in

Phoenix someday may be quote uninhabitable in quotes due to this intense.

Speaker 3 And he did that you better have you better have good air.

Speaker 2 Conditioning, absolutely, and I’m doing that all the time every week, John, we check. Now this sounds a little ridiculous, So we have somebody check our own air conditioner for good reason. And it’s probably the most lucrative business that you could imagine.

In Phoenix. The people that do HGAC don’t you think isn’t that incredible?

Speaker 3 Well, your backup, your backups, you live in the car.

Speaker 2 That’s exactly right, that’s an exact story, and you know, letting people know. John. Obviously, we appreciate being on your station on the Cats Roundtable. More information from the Doctor Sky experience at WABC radio dot com, where n actually you can learn so much more about astronomy, space, aviation, and weather. And like you and the rest of the

folks that promote the good of America, American exceptionalism, we put in there too. So we wish everybody the best for the midsummer as we approach midsummer. August sixth is literally the midpoint of summer twenty twenty four.

Speaker 1 Steve Kates, thank you for the update and we’ll catch up with you again real soon.

Speaker 2 Thank you, John, have a good day.
