Speaker 1 With us today is Harold Ham, one of the most energetic, one of the most entrepreneurial people I have ever met. He is an energy business and he has a new book, Game Changer, by Harold Ham. Harold, Welcome to our show this Sunday morning. Tell us about the book Game Changer.

Tell us about why America is losing out and everybody else is surpassing us on energy.

Speaker 2 Well, thank you, thank you, John. It’s always good to be with you. It’s good to be with you again. So I had to write this story, Game Changer. It tells all about how we became energy independent in America, the entrepreneurial innovation that went into it. And there’s one thing that created this whole thing is hor zonal grilling.

And it wasn’t big company. It’s a small company. My company, very small, you know, when we found a baking and developed a horizontally in the Cedar Hills field, which is the first ever horizontal oil field in the world. So yeah, it’s you’re exactly right. You know. We pulled back on the very things that we need in this country, which

is energy, and it drives cost of food everything else up because inflation. If it’s not done right, and this administration lemitation, you’re not doing it right. They pulled back on all the permitting and leasing of federal lands and that’s twenty six percent of the land mass and it’s about thirty three percent, a third of the productive capacity

to the US. So it was a tremendous blow to our industry. You know what’s been done, and you know they persist in being doing this bad policy. What does drive up the cost to all all consuming public in America.

Speaker 1 And uh solutions besides getting you know, I me and you I believe do not agree with what President Biden has done. Uh. He has favored uh on my end, he has favorite electric vehicles, which I think that uh, the American people should be given a choice. What the CEO of Toyota has said, Harold was, I’m gonna make uh diesel cause

I’m going to make electric cars, going to make hybrid cause I’m gonna make uh uh whatever else there’s there is. Let you let your let you let the people of the world decide what they want to drive. What do you stand on that?

Speaker 2 Well, you know we’ve uh, we’ve spent fifty years and that this has been in the making to become energy independent in America. You’m producing all the oil and natural gas that we need. And here we jump to electric vehicles, which requires all all these metals that we don’t have left him co Walt, all all these things, and where

is it. Well, sixty six percent of it is in China. So we go right back into dependency again on a foreign country that really don’t care for us a whole lot. So we just can’t learn from from the past, from past mistakes. Instead of being dependent on OPEC, we jump over.

Now we’re dependent on China. It doesn’t make any sense at all. And you’re right, we’ll be given a choice that of being forced into electric vehicles, and that’s that’s exactly what’s happening.

Speaker 1 Yeah. The additional thing is somehow there’s an abnormal influence by foreign entities under the the Biden administration, where I believe, well, I heard Donald Trump the other day on w ABC was on what SID saying that in Afghanistan, we gave away Afghanistan, which gave Russia the confidence to go and take Ukraine. In addition to that is we gave Russia

the money by allowing him to go to eighty five to one hundred dollars oil, and they used that money to go after Ukraine, and he also went after seven six or seven African countries because they’re very rich in minerals.

What is your feeling on.

Speaker 2 That, Well, actually John went higher than that. You know, back if you back up a year or two before they invaded, you know, all was about one hundred and sixteen dollars a barrel. So you’re exactly right. They funded Russian aggression bye bye by doing that. And you know it didn’t have to happen beyond.

Speaker 1 We gave them the money. We gave them Russia the money to invade Ukraine and the African countries.

Speaker 2 That’s exactly right. That’s what happened. When you when you look at you know what unfolded. So you know, it’s it’s all about national security, and it’s it’s about the handling. I mean, let’s just turn back to free enterprise here in America instead of trying of you know, meander the system or the process if you will, like this administration

is doing. And yeah, we have a summit coming up in September here, September. We’re in it. We’re in it already. Time flies. But twenty fifth of September in Oklahoma City talking just about those things. And we have such a vivid demonstration here with the Ukrainian invasion by Russia of what it means, you know, when you cut off the pot,

weaponize oil and gas energy, if you will, and that’s what happened to Europe. So you know, it’s like I say, this administration not learning from past mistakes, and here we are about to repeat it going into the China situation on one of the metals it takes to make the battery fuge like the vehicles.

Speaker 1 Absolutely harold him your book again, the name of the book. And I heard everybody it’s a great book. Tell us the name of your book again.

Speaker 2 Yeah. Game changer, and it’s about how the game was changed suddenly and really really really occurred. You know, this past twenty five years with horizontal drilling that just changed the entire energy landscape for America. Happened only here in America, but basically allowed us to more than triple our production of natural gas, which saved Europe this last winter, and

basically triple crude all production here in the country. And it gave us a lot of productive capacity that disadministration seems to be wanting to take away. So it’s a great book. Who’s had great response. It’s just been out a month and we’re approaching fifty thousand copies, so that’s already flown off the shelf. So great response. You never

know when you write one of these things, my first book, what the readability will be. I guess I got lucky. But everybody tells me it reads real well and they love it, so yeah, thanks for letting the public know about it.

Speaker 1 Harold Ham, thank you so much, and God bless you, and let’s fight for America together.

Speaker 2 Well, John, good to be with you, and thanks so much. We’ll see you soon. Thank you.
