Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning with us today is the chairman of the GOP, Joe Grutter, and we’re going to talk about the convention. It’s coming up soon. Well, Chairman Grutter, tell us about it. This is the first time ever a major party has done a midterm convention. Tell us about it.
Listen, if you want to defy history, you’ve got to do things a little bit differently. The midterm convention has never been done, but only four times in the last 150 years the incumbent party has been able to defy history and hold the midterms. We’re going to do that this year, and we’re starting it with the midterm convention.
We’re going to bring our message directly to the American people, all the great things that this president has done. All the great things he wants to continue to do. We’re going to display it with real life stories of Americans out there that want to share their experiences and elected officials and candidates. And I call it a Trumpapalooza. But
it’s going to be, listen, John, this is the first time in history that the public, the general public, can actually attend it. They can go to GOPconvention.com and they can join our efforts. I think we still have a couple of seats. It’s a ticket lottery. People can come.
It’s going to be amazing. But I think we’ll be able to make the case. of why we should elect Republicans across the board and the two paths that we can go down as a country, one that is with the mainstream and common sense and one that’s filled with extremism and craziness. I think the American people, for those
that believe that the American dream is alive and well, then the present, what we’re going to be able to offer people and show people and showcase at this convention is, I think will make the case and will also show the contrast, like I said, of what the Democrats would like to do. And listen, you have to take my
word for it. You can believe what they say. They want open borders. They want, you know, no prisons. They want amnesty for everybody, including the rapists and murderers. You know, some of their candidates, you know, have said things like they want to get rid of the Fourth of July and Thanksgiving. I mean, it’s complete lunacy. I mean, they’ve
they’ve they’ve nominated these complete mini Mondami’s from coast to coast. And the question that Americans have to ask themselves is, do they want sanity and reasonableness or do they want craziness? And that’s because that’s what the Democrats are bringing this election.
I think there’s a civil war going on between the Democratic Party itself. But right now, I think the socialists are ahead of some of the common sense Democrats. And I tell our Republican friends that make sure you get the common sense Democrats to vote for you as Republicans because you guys got more common sense. And I said
to them, look at the screen when you do a commercial and say, whom do you trust to make common sense decisions today? in the next two years.
That’s exactly right. It’s very, very simple, very easy. And listen, our candidates across the country are candidates that the president hand-selected. I mean, it’s a, we have, and that’s why I think we’re in great shape. I think we’re going to defy history. I think we’re going to win because we have the candidates that we want in the matchups against these,
you know, crazy radical leftists. We have the resources that we need to be successful. And then we have the best showman that’s ever lived in politics, Donald J. Trump. He’s proven that he can deliver these low-propensity voters. He’s done it three times. We’re going to do this. I call the convention like a Trumpapalooza. And we’re going to
go do a bunch of rallies around the country, and we’re going to motivate these people to to get up and to go and vote, and I think we’re going to be able to defy history. It will be a record-setting year. Don’t listen to all the doom and gloom.
We’re actually in great shape when you look at the actual numbers.
And you have a lot of money. The GOP has a lot more money because– You’ve been fundraising, and the Democrats have been borrowing money.
Yeah, listen, they’re broke. They have negative money in the DNC. I say do not contribute, DNC. We have a record amount of resources on our side. We have the vice president, who’s our finance chairman, the president helping. We have everybody rowing in the same direction. We’re united as a team.
We’re united as a party because we know we can’t lose. We have to win. Because the Democrats are going to rip us apart. They’re going to obstruct. They’re going to impeach. They’re going to investigate. The president’s administration will essentially be over if we lose the midterms. We have to win.
I agree with you 100 percent. Well, Chairman Grutter, thank you so much for coming on. And we vote for common sense. Anything else you want to tell the people?
No, listen, go to GOPconvention.com. Join our efforts. It’s going to be awesome.
How many people are you going to have?
We’re going to have over 20,000 people. It’s going to be awesome.
That is wonderful. Well, thank you so much for coming on this Sunday morning, and we’ll catch up with you again real soon.
Great talking to you, John.
