Parents Must Stay Vigilant as AI Enters the Classroom
Transcript
Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning. Well, every Sunday morning with us is Lynshaw, and she worries about our kids and worries about our kids a lot. Well, Lynn Shaw, what do you have in mind today?
Well, good morning, John. First of all, we want everyone to become a warrior in their own home and community, and we have to talk about your favorite subject. AI. We’re going to focus today on AI in the classrooms across America because we’re experimenting on our kids right now and nobody seems to know about this or have any
answers as to why this is going on. Listen, the launch of big tech was kind of in nineteen ninety six, the launch of when we had two platforms thirty years ago, and we learned so much about the harms of all of this in the past thirty years. And now we’re unleashing this artificial intelligence and we’re talking about something John.
It’s moving faster than you me parents, faster than schools aren’t, frankly, faster than the law. So this artificial intelligence in education sounds very We hear the word innovation and innovative and it’ll help our kids. But I have to tell you the real question we must be asking is is it safe?
That is the question, because we represented the warriors, parents and families who are asking this question, and nobody in power seems to be willing to answer this clearly. So I ask, are we experimenting on our kids in real time?
Right now? What we’re seeing is this AI is being placed directly into classrooms, as do focus groups, into the kids’ hands, into their developmental years, and we don’t fully understand what it is doing to their minds, the relationships, or their future. This is not theory, abstract speculation. This is what we’re living right now. It’s happening in front
of our eyes, and nobody seems to know about it. The parents, educators don’t really know what to do. It’s been dumped onto them. So listen right now, our biggest concern is replace thinking with this prompting of AI. Kids are suffering anyway with the education system, and now we’re going to offload their critical thinking and analysis into machines
or have them use this as a crutch, so you know, we’re outsourcing. So the other thing we have schools introducing this is a big one, introducing AI tools into the chromebooks which most public schools use around the United States around the world without meaningful parental notice or consent, and that’s a fundamental breakdown a trust. Parents and caregivers must
be told what their children are doing in school, and parents seem to be the last ones to know, and they’re dealing with the consequences because we have we learned all this big tech mental health for our kids. So now we’re introducing new systems that haven’t been vetted. We are calling for some sort of applause on this until
we have more studies we can see. Have we learned nothing from the last thirty years what big tech platforms have done to our kids? Not mentioned replacing teachers. This is a real concern because we hear AI as a support tool, you know, and I know they want to know replace the workforce. So here’s what we want everybody
to do. We want everybody to be aware of this. Ask child’s school directly, what AI tools are you being used. Demand transparency, something we don’t have with any big tech and consent before adoption. Every parent has the right to consent.
They have to know what their child’s doing in school. And you’ve got to talk to your kids, ask them what’s happening in the schools. What are you doing, what are you using? And don’t assume the schools have your children’s best interest. It hurts me to say this, John.
You know, at their hearts, but they’re watching everything. They’re not men.
It’s different today. It’s different today than it was forty fifty years ago when I went to grammar school. And in the fact is that the teachers forty fifty years ago, I would say ninety five percent of them had the best intentions for you our children. But it’s a little bit different today. I don’t know what the percentages are,
but I worry about our children.
Yeah, I agree, John, But we’ve got to get our thinking. Something I tell you a lot like we have to forget about the past. We have to kind of erase it. I know that’s hard for all of us to do.
But today we’ve got to deal with what we have now and going forward. And we are not anti technology, none of that stuff. We’re pro responsibility. AI can be a powerful tool, it can support learning, but only if it’s built and deployed with kids in mind first after thought.
But the good news is, John, parents are waking up, the warriors are waking up. We’re here on the cats around table, waking everybody up, and it’s a good thing and to be continued.
Well, thank you so much and for worrying about our kids, because you’re the only one that works as hard as I’ve seen working so hard for our kids. And there was a Supreme Court ruling the other day about and I don’t know if it’s good or bad. I’m waiting for Professor Dershowitz to tell me the analysis of what
really happened. Have you have you heard about that?
I’ve heard about that, But you know, you know what, I’ve got the focus right now in the communities, in the homes, on the education system, on this AI so we can have all these other issues, and all these issues are in twenty twenty six very complex, but we got to focus right now on our kids and they’re
actual like waking up every day learning what’s happening. Because remember, like I always say, our future American adults and leaders, and we’re getting a lot of distractions with other topics. Right now, we got to focus and empower our kids’ families.
Well, Lynn from Lyn’swarriors dot.
Org, is it, That’s just it lynswarriors dot org.
So tune in to Lynswarriors dot org and she is one person that worries about our kids. And thank you for everything you do, and we’ll catch up
With you and get him a sir, Thank you, John
