And when we’re going south, mister Hasner, give us your why are you so? I know our education system has deteriorated so much in the last twenty thirty years. And
the fact is that I am worried too. Tell us how you feel about it.
Well, actually, as a matter of fact, John, you’re almost its fault for this, because you have for the last couple of years been asking for, pleading for where’s the common sense? And so I frankly, you’ve made it a political statement in America where people talk about common sense solutions came out of you, my friend. It because because
you recognize something.
I should have patented it.
It still can but and yeah, but you know the tax guy would only get it from here. You don’t want that. So, so here’s the problem. There is no common sense when there is no knowledge. It’s not that people don’t want to have common sense. They don’t have it because they don’t know how to have it. And
what happened is very simple. And I’m going to run through it so that you can follow it. History shows us that the great super powers over the centuries always lost their power when they stopped educating children. Period. Look at Great Britain once they literally besides, only a little piece of us own the world. Now, all you ever
hear from England is how the Royals are doing. As if America cares that much, they might as well be stars in Hollywood. That’s all that’s left of England, the Royals.
The sun sun was what was the only expression, The sun never sets on the Brittish Empire under.
That’s right, Well, the sun set a long time ago and it’s never going to come back. And that’s the key. And that’s where we’re going. And here’s why you and I are first immigrants, the first children of immigrants. Here’s what immigrants knew when they came from Europe, when they came from Asia, and frankly, when they’re trying to come
here as migrants, that’s another story. Today America had jobs. We called it opportunity. But let’s be blunt. There were jobs here and immigrants coming here. However, they got here swimming or on a boat or at als island or coming through a border always knew that if they get a job and they worked hard, here’s all they had
to do for their children. Educate them. Now, that was beautiful, educate them because in Europe, especially if you were a tailor, you were always your children were always going to be tailors. But if you were American American, then your children could be anything. Okay, that’s gone. Where does it go? No one speaks about education anymore. No, there are no education
governors or mayors or presidents. Why do we not care? Is it possible that we don’t care about educating our children. Yes, John, it’s possible that we don’t because we don’t. And here’s why it doesn’t matter. Because if you’ve been a parent for the last twenty years and you’re very good about the twenty thirty year business, you’re almost right on the button.
You’re no longer the child of an immigrant. You’re not even the grandchild of an immigrant. You’re probably the great grandchild. It doesn’t matter anymore your kids. All your kids need is to be happy. We all were great parents. If we can make our children happy, not educated happy. Anybody can go to college. Anybody can go to college. They
can you can get alone at the nearest bank. The college is set it up. Just walk down the street, you’ll get along, you’ll be you’ll be borrowing up to your eyeballs. But so what, everybody can go to college. Well, guess what, no more college. In the nineteen sixties, California decided to change the way. California decided to change the
way we teach reading and we teach arithmetic. Major changes. The result, young people today in their twenties and thirties cannot make change of a five dollars bill if there isn’t a computer handy, or the guy across the guy hasn’t done it for them. And worse, those young people cannot sign their name on a legal document. They don’t
know how to sign their name. It sounds ridiculous.
And education has gotten worse. During COVID, the systems will shut down education.
Yeah, you didn’t say that. You could say that. You could say that because because because the school had very little time to train their teachers how to teach long distance. They had a summer one summer or COVID stop things in late spring. They had a summer to teach them.
They didn’t know how to teach them. They didn’t teach them And here’s what’s going on. Nobody wants to be a teacher right now today in America, not here in the city, but across the suburbs and the rural communities.
They can’t find teachers. So what are they talking about doing having a four day school week? They think if they paid teachers on the basis of five days, but only make them teach four days, teachers will come. And in New York, what are we doing in New York we are saying, you know what, the kids can’t pass
the regents. They’re not smart enough to pass the regions. Let’s drop it. And what excuse are they giving. Well, when somebody, when some child asks us, why do I have to study for the regents? And we tell them because you have to pass the test to graduate. That’s not really a good enough answer for a young person,
because you have to show us you will know enough to pass and get a diploma. That’s where we have sunk. And so when we look at the national political scene, ah, this is what we are finding. Old men and old men running for president.
We’ve got a minute and a half left. Tell me what is the solution.
We have to throw out what doesn’t work, which is what every businessman knows how to do. If it’s failed, get rid of it. We have the computer technology to teach every single child in this country what they have to know, one by one, the reality of teachers as we know them. Forget it, change it. We have the
technology to teach every child what they have to know, what they used to know, and what we know, what we know, one by one. You have to change the whole system. If we continue doing what we’re doing, we’ll continue to hear John Cassumer TV say where’s the common sense?
We got to stop it.
Well, Martin Has, executive director of the Liberal Party of New York, thank you so much for coming on, Thank you for your concerns, and I pledge that I will work with you to help fix the system.
Okay, you got a deal.
