Speaker 1 What is today is Congressman Anthony Desposito on the Homeland Security Committee, and so many things are going on. Congressman, I hear that we were put that the Department of Defense had put security at well, what is it called security alert out to all our bases in Europe? What does that mean?

Speaker 2 It’s that you know, obviously, especially following the debate. I mean, I think this is a conversation that we’ve been having now for months, if not years, that one of the reasons as to why we think that we’ve become such a target for our adversaries is that we’ve seen weak.

We’ve talked about before when President Reagan was in office, he always used the adage piece through strength, and Joe Biden has shown zero strength, and he has shown that he is weak, and that has given our adversaries the ability to take advantage of us. And I mean I speak to law enforcement professionals throughout this country every single day,

and the question is not if we are going to see another terrorist attack, it is when, I mean you have most recently, I know that we talked about this on your show not that long ago, but just last week, the chief of detectives in the NYPD put an alert out locally with regards to Venezuelan gangs that are coming

over the southern border and infiltrating migrant shelters, and they’re actually doing videos online videos to recruit more to this dangerous Vinezuelan gang. So not only are you seeing us here in our homeland become less safety of our open borders, but across the world we are being taken advantage of because we’re not showing the strength that we should as

the American powerhouse.

Speaker 1 I was talking to a friend of ours that used to be Depoveredy of Defense, and he says to me, it’s like the bully in the in the school yard. If the bully knows you’re not gonna you’re not going to retaliate, then he’ll continue to be bullying it to us.

And right now, our commander in chief is not retaliated against the Suez Canal or the red seat closures. And it’s costing the American people money.

Speaker 2 Absolutely, it’s costing us. Uh, it’s costing the American people money, it’s costing us time, it’s costing us resources, and in some cases it’s costing us lives. And that’s really you know, you talk about the the the incidents that we’ve seen over the last year or so. I mean, do we really believe that if President Biden didn’t exude weakness that

we would have that China would have full a spy balloon across the entire United States of America? Do we think that Iran would have taken the opportunity to attack uh and Hamas would have taken the opportunity to attack Israel?

There are there are incidents that we keep seeing. Do we think that that Russia would have been as forthcoming in Ukraine if we had leadership in the White House? And I think we would all agree that across the globe we are being seen as weak and therefore our adversaries are taking advantage of that weakness because they are,

in fact the bullies in the schoolyard.

Speaker 1 You’re absolutely correct. Because the White House has not shown the courage to respond, then they’re they’re just doing whatever they want to do.

Speaker 2 That’s totally correct.

Speaker 1 Whether what you know, it’s at the fourth of July weekend here and what else you at three o’clock in the morning when you wake up and something is bothering you? What else is bothering you?

Speaker 2 Well? You know, obviously we’ve been focused in the in the in the Homeland Security Committee on on securing our border. We passed HR two and it’s it’s been something that Chuck Schumer in the Senate has completely fallen flat on.

We know that the crisis that we’re dealing with is the Biden border crisis. We know that the Vice President Kamala Harris was told to be or we were told that she’s this great borders are when in fact they’ve done nothing, and it’s clear and indicative that they want to keep that border open. I mean other things, you know,

closer to home that we’re working on. I’ve been working closely with the New York City Police Department. Just last month, I’m the chairman of a subcommittee on Emergency Management, Technology and Homeland Security, and we did a subcommittee hearing on the the usage of drones and how our first responders, specifically our law enforcement agencies are handling dangerous drones that

come and come within our airspace so that the federal government can provide them the resources and necessary legislation in order to take these drones down. And it’s something that I know he has been on your station often, but it’s actually someone that I graduated the Police Academy with and now he’s the Deputy Commissioner of Operations, Caz Daughtry.

We’ve been working hand in hand on making sure that not just the NYPD, but we’re hoping that the NYP he will serve as our pilot department, but that all law enforcement agencies throughout the country have the ability to take down drones over our airspace because, as we know, they’re not only utilized to spy on us, but they

they could cause harm and danger, especially in large crowds. I mean, we we actually sort here in Nassau County during the funeral of police Officer Jonathan Diller, there were a few drones that were flying over overhead that eventually, you know, the police, the National County Police Department, under the leadership of County Executive Blakeman and Commissioner Rider, had

to take action in order to take those drones out of our airspace. So, you know, as as technology emerges, as we say all the time, the technology emerges and we find new issues that we need to be concerned about in order to keep the American people safe.

Speaker 1 Well, Congressman Anthony D. Esposito thank you so much for coming on to WABC and a lot of things to be concerned about. Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 Thanks John. We’ll keep fighting. Thank you.
