Speaker 1 Sunday morning. What it’s like every Sunday. Is Governor David Pattison Well a common sense Democrat and wants more democratic more common sense in is a democratic party? Well, Governor Pattison Sunday morning, what do you have on your mind?

Speaker 2 Not before we go into anything else, I have to say John that the Salem witch hunts would seem like a big beach party compared to the Pierre de Tear tax and the way the mayor handled it. First of all, how do you send a list of people to people all around the city to see who has to pay

the tax? None of these people are delinquent. They just came up with the actuary that they had to pay the tax. So I just think it’s totally outrageous. And then to expose people is, in my opinion, creating a danger in the community the same way they did, you know, in the days of the Salem witches. And it’s this

idea that you demonize a certain amount of people so that every place they go, now if anyone sees their name, and it’s obviously a story that’s gotten around, it’s going to be very injurious to them and their families and to their businesses.

Speaker 1 Well, I mean we’ve been talking about it the last few days and people got the letters in the mail. You’ve got mail. They made it like a joke. Absolutely mail and it says that you have to answer by August twenty one otherwise we’re going to put this on record that your deed you have back taxes.

Speaker 2 And it was Mayor Mamdani himself. Since when did he become the economic czar of the city that sent these letters and signed them warning these people that they’ve got basically three and a half weeks to pay up or else.

Speaker 1 The other one. If I was mayor, I would say I would let the somebody in the finance department send them and say, oh, I don’t want to do it. It’s them, it’s them. They need the money to pay the budget. But I mean, are they are they trying to prove something. I don’t understand this. I don’t think

this is a fair tax, and I think it’s going to hurt the overall real estate industry.

Speaker 2 In addition to that, John, it’s a demonizing type of conduct that is desired by a number of people like the mayor, who are socialists who want to change the whole structure of government, the whole structure of the legislature, even the whole structure of who’s running the government. And they do it by making the people who are already there,

who have enough problems to start with, by making them look really bad.

Speaker 1 And people have gotten these notices, and I’ve talked to a lot of people last few days that have lived in their apartment for the last thirty years and they don’t know why they got it.

Speaker 2 John, there are twenty three people now who have documented to be living here in New York for over twenty years. Some of them didn’t even have second homes, and they got the letters as well. But all of this I think is traceable back to Mayor Mamdani. And this is the same mayor that has fomented so much rage and

tension around the city that, as you know, the former Assemblyman from Brooklyn, Dove Hiken, and myself have approached the United States Attorney, the assistant United States Attorney who was charged with running the Civil Rights Bureau, and just a few days ago, she consented to have a conversation with Dove Hiken, which he shared with me, and one of

the things that he said to her is don’t worry when you talk to me. It’s exclusive. I’m not going to talk about it to anyone else other than to David Patterson. Whereupon she said, the things I’ve said in this meeting are public and can be shared with anyone.

And what she said was, they are appalled at the way people in the city are being treated, particularly these riots, and you know, again demonizing people because of their faith. And they’re also very concerned that it could lead to a very huge violent event as this and many other cities have happened, have had happened long ago. And so

I am really proud of the fact that the US Attorney’s Office is going to allow the senior Assistant US Attorney, whose name is Dylan Hermid Dylan, to continue this investigation.

Speaker 1 Understood, where else do we go? I mean, there’s other problems in the city with the supermarkets and and the bodegos, And is this for real or do you think we’re just playing the violin to the mayor’s support us. I mean, it’s not gonna hurt us much. You know what hurt us a lot. Congestion pricing because of New York City

has hurt us a lot.

Speaker 2 It has hurt it has had a demonstrable effect on the economy, on the capacity of people who move around the city. It’s increased traffic, It’s caused a whole lot of other problems. But I think worst of all is the fact that it probably should never have been implemented in the first place.

Speaker 1 I understand that where else do we go on a Sunday morning. I mean, we have the war going on, we have a homelessness going on, we have problems in the city where you know or the NYPD needs better support.

I mean, I don’t know where to go anywhere. John.

Speaker 2 What I will tell you is I heard some of your remarks about the Democratic Party and we’re going broke and that kind of thing. When that sort of thing happens, you have to start getting together and building. It can’t be one person makes a big speech and then everyone’s happy again. And I’m still continuing my attempt to get

common sense Democrats to sit with a group of us, about ten or fifteen of us who’ve already signed on. And that’s pretty good for the last two weeks. And we want to make this city a two party city again and bring hopefully reason to the way we run our government and the way we treat our constituents.

Speaker 1 I agree one hundred percent. Well, Governor David Patterson, thank you for everything you’ve done, thank you for your common sense. And how’s the movement of common sense Democrats doing to protect the common sense of the Democratic Democratic Party.

Speaker 2 I think it’s going to be by confronting a lot of the forces that have contributed to destroying the Democratic Party. The internal friction that’s going on is going to be a very important election on Tuesday, and it’s going to be a primary in the state of Missouri where sitting Democrats being challenged by socialists. It’s going to be exposing

the fact that these types of attempts to overthrow government have happened in the past, but inevitably they failed, and they failed when the majority started to take advantage of the fact that they are the majority and put a lot of these ridiculous theories to bed.

Speaker 1 Governor Patterson, we’ll catch up with you again real soon. Thank you so much for you on and God bless you, God bless me.

Speaker 2 Mark, Thank you, John
