Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning. So many things are happening in the world and with us. This morning is Senator Joe Lieberman and h he’s one common sense guy. I have known Senator Liberman for a long time. Well, can I call you Joe this morning? Senator?
Are you kidding? I’d be offended if you didn’t call me. Thanks Joe, Ya. Yeah, it’s great to be back with you as always for good conversation in the public interest, in.
The public interest, because we both love our country, we both love our cities, our states, and and things are not going in the right direction, and it’s just yeah, all I could say is God bless America. Senator. You’ve made a lot of news lately, and No Labels has made a lot of news, lady. And it was a
press release last week that it’s getting close that the No Labels, which you’re chairman of, is gonna come up with candidates soon. Can you give us us and all the American people what’s your thoughts on.
Thanks Sean. So, yeah, this is the moment that we and No Labels have been working toward for a long time. When I remember it said, you know, maybe we should look at running bi partisan unit ticket, particularly if it’s Trump and Biden again, and we said you got to wait till after Super Tuesday, because you know they’re primers.
Who knows who it’s going to be. Meantime, we’re going to work to get on the ballots. We’re making really good progress and that we know that if we run a ticket, we’re gonna be on the ballot in all fifty states, which none of the other third party candidates can say. But I’m really confident about that. But anyway,
Super Tuesday came and went in loanboat. It is Trump and Biden again, and so we’re implementing our plan. I mean, you know, sixty five seventy percent of the American people say they don’t want to be forced to have this choice again. We can do better. We agree with them.
We want to give them that choice to see if they want to take it. And it’s going to be unusual. It’s not going to be like the other third party candidate’s urfk Junior, Barnol West Jill Stein. Ours is going to be a bipartisan unity ticket because we want to undercut the partisanship and ideological extremism in Washington that stuffs
our government for fixing our country’s problems and we think that’s the way to shake it up. So just last Thursday evening, we announced what we call our Country over Party Committee. It’s really a nominating committee on privileged to be on it. We’re going to focus in on finding the two best candidates we can to be on these
no labels third lines around the country, and honestly, John, if we can’t find good enough candidates, we’re not going to do it. But we’re confident we can and that we’ll be able to give the American people the third choice that they want. And of course there are no labels.
Members have been telling us for two years they want us to provide. So honestly, it’s an exciting time somewhere. Frankly, between me and you and everybody listening, I never guess I would have been involved, and I mean I grew up as a Democrat, that was part of who I was.
But honestly, I’ve watched the two parties just set of take care of themselves and not the country, and I just decided, through no Labels, Willie shake this up to bring America back together so the American people could be a lot more optimistic about their future than most of them are now.
Well, you know, we are always honest with each other. The only time I was really disappointed in No Labels was recently because Kevin McCarthy, who was a very decent person. The Democrats that on No Labels aboard or caucus. I felt that they should have done the right thing and supported Kevin McCarthy when when the extreme right wing ended
up voting against them, and I think I’ve been told that he had a commitment from Nancy Pelosi that they were going to support him after he supported the budget going forward or supporting the extension which got his was mad at him, and that’s why five minutes after the the the no confidence vote for Kevin McCarthy, he threw
Nancy Pelosi out of her office.
Yeah, so look on the policy, I totally agree with you. And what we’re talking about here is some of the Democratic congressmen that No Labels helped elect, or centrists who are part of what we call the House problem solvers talkers.
And the truth is, John, we don’t tell them what to do. They’re members of Congress. But I’ll just say this, I was disappointed there too because I thought that that Kevin McCarthy deserved to be saved and protected from the extreme right the Republican Party because he did something right and that he needed some Democrats Democratic votes to do it.
And I wish that are allied members in the House Problems Starvers Caucus had given it to him. Incinneli Brian Fitzpatrick, who’s the Republican co chair of the House Problem Solvers, was very close to Kevin McCarthy and really appealed to his Democratic colleagues, and he was upset when they didn’t support McCarthy’s So, you know, it’s looked nobody’s perfect, but
in this case, respectfully, and he might say lovingly, I think the Democratic members of the House Problem Sarvice focus disappointed me. Let’s put it that way.
In that case, and if we move on now to Israel, I was disappointed with my friend, I mean he’s my friend for forty years, a Senator, Chuck Schumer. In uh, the attitude he took the other day on on Israel.
You know, in the United States, shouldn’t my opinion, I shouldn’t publicly get involved in another country’s election process.
Well, I agree with you. I mean, I Tuck Schumer as a friend of mine. We worked together twenty four years when I was in the Senate, and you know, over his career he has been a supporter of a strong supporter of Israel and US Israel relationship, particularly on security.
But I thought that the statement he made this week, which obviously has a right to make, but I thought it was a mistake and I can’t ever remember anything like it. Think about it. We’re talking about the center majority leader of the US A talking about one of our closest allies in the world, I mean close like Britain,
you know, and telling him who they the people of Israel should elect or throw out as their leadership. Now you know it, Chuck to disagree with that Senago’s policies. I think the current government he formed is uh too far right. But that’s his call. Uh, he wanted to that, he needed to do that to fill the coalition, to
get a majority to come back as prime minister. But for for a US senator, a little on the majority, a little in the highest ranking Jewish elected official in Washington, Uh, to tell Israelis that it’s time to get rid of that SnO, that’s outrageous. I mean, John, can you imagine Senator Schumer or anybody else in the US government saying
to the Brits, uh, we don’t like your prime minister, it’s really time for you to dump him, and oh my god, they’d be outrage all around. And you know, sometimes in a way you can take advantage of your friends and you shouldn’t. Incidentally, though, as I said, I think the Danejo government in Israel is too far right
and not capable of, you know, fying the country over the long run, although they appear to be very unified now. But if you look at public opinion polling on the question of whether the Israeli Defense Force is under Attanyahu’s leadership should continue fighting in Gaza until they destroy Hamas.
The support among the Israeli people for that policy, which is the one I think that agitates a lot of people here in America and including on the left of the Democratic Party and presumably agitate Senator Schumer’s wi well, that policy is supported by a great majority of the Israeli people. So I just think it’s a bad precedent
for us to tell a friend and ally a democratic country to elect their leaders they’re not tyrants or dictators. Get rid of this government. We don’t like it, So it was a low point for US Israel relationships. Although I think BB, knowing him and knowing the fact that he knows on this particular policy about what he’s doing
in Gaza, he’s got the support of the Israeli people who were infuriated and heartbroken by what happened in October seventh, and they don’t want to ever face that again. And that means they want the Israeli wars the monks, which actually so painful to watch the impact on innocent civilians, really systematically destroying Hamas, to let them finish that job
as best they can. Of course, we ought to be helping the Israelis, and the Israelis ought to be helping themselves to get food and other humanitarian assistance into the Palestinians. But the war, get it over with and wipe out the possibility of any returned to another October seventh Hamas attack against.
Well, there are ally in the Middle East, and it all happened. I want to remind everybody it all happened when Israel tried to make peace with Saudi Arabia and Iran pushed those buttons and created the havoc.
You are absolutely right, Incidentaliti Hamas was just so devious because for a period of years before October seventh brutal terrorist attack on israelis Hamas kind of fooled the Israeli government to thinking that maybe they were going to begin to behave better and that the Israelis could work with them.
But what what started this? It’s the masters of all the terrorist groups in the Middle East, Hamas, the Hesbela, the hootis right.
Back Iran, I Ran press the button, press the button on the Maas and they press the button on the hoodies for the Red Sea, create havoc in the Red Sea, in the Suez Canal, and is pressing the button on Hesblah in Lebanon.
Absolutely, John, because because as you said, I want to just put an exclamation point on it, it was pretty clear that the Israelis and the Saudis were making big progress towards normalizing relationship, diplomatic relationships. Uh. And that would have been the biggest step forward in the Middle East, honestly since nineteen forty eight when the State of Israel was created. Really give hope for peace
in the Middle East. Hopefully we can get back to that after Hamas is destroyed. But Iran is the enemy, Yes, the target.
Yeah, we have to do and Senator, when I’m scared of is Iran has enough money to buy a comic of nuclear bombs. And we’re out of time. Senator, I want to contain continue our conversation, maybe in the next week or two, and bring the American people up to date as you are, up to date on Israel and
up to date on what’s going on with no labels in all country.
John, I’d be glad You’re always good to talk to. You have a very good Sunday, and we’ll see us in my friend. God bless you, God bless that you
